The Heartbreakers

Chapter 7

Kandice's POV
*One week later*

It was a Friday night and I found myself once again going to an overly advertised house party.

Of course my mother knew I was going but I was left to figure my clothing choices out by myself as she was on yet another night shift.

I had to admit I was quite nervous about this party compared to all the others I've been to because I knew for a fact that all the boys had been invited to this one.

Since last weekend when I reluctantly decided it was time to fix the friendships between them all, we have been slowly spending time together as a group again but I didn't want to make it seem like nothing had changed. I managed to get them all to agree with just walking home together to start with, I didn't want to hang out with them in school yet because I knew it would make it harder to still be friends with the girls and strangely enough I had grown attached to those girly girls.

There was suddenly a knock at the front door making me groan and put down my lip liner to answer the door grumpily.

"Calum?" I asked confused as he flashed me a toothy grin and invited himself inside making me glare.

"You do realize you can't just walk into my house whenever you want right?"

My attitude towards the matter didn't go by un-noticed as he chuckled and shook his head.

"I knocked didn't I?" He smirked as my eyes widened in surprised at his playful humour that I hadn't really missed at all.

"What are you in my house for?" I sighed and he perked up again.

"Party time!" I stated simply and I scoffed.

"Sarah was going to pick me up."

He responded fast letting me know that he had already thought it through.

"I let her know I was giving you a ride."

I glared again making him shift uncomfortably under my stare.

Good.

"You know I didn't want people to know that we're friends again." I snapped and he just shrugged while stuffing his hands into his Jean pockets.

"It would have happened eventually, and with how popular you've become, I doubt anyone will say anything bad about you."

I sighed and muttered a quiet fine as I walked back up the stairs and he followed behind me.

Everything in me wanted to yell and scream at him for thinking he could just walk up here so causally but I kept calm and tried my hardest to ignore him.

"Your rooms changed a lot in only six months." He stated as a matter of fact before sitting down on the edge of my bed.

I looked around and for the first time realized that there was indeed plenty more pink coloured objects now.

"Yeah, so?" I agreed with him as I rolled my eyes at the fact that I had to admit he was right.

He simply shook his head and handed me my brown timberland boots which is exactly the shoes I had picked to go with my outfit. I hadn't moved them away from the rest of my shoe collection so I looked up at him shocked that he had still known what I would have wanted.

"I still know you." He whispered with a slight smirk before telling me to hurry up and finish so I could met him outside.

I stood there for a moment, still wide eyed as I tried to push my feelings back down to the pit of my stomach.

Once I had gathered myself, I met him at what looked like his car he received for his birthday a few months ago. I was still quietly nervous to get in the car with him as he didn't drive very often.

"Party time!" He cheered once again and I sighed knowing this was going to be a long night.

*2 hours later*

"Dance with me!" Calum shouted as he walked closer to me.

I bit my lips softly as I looked away from him.

All night since we arrived, I had done my best to avoid him but he was making it harder and harder by the minute.

"Just one dance, okay?" I sighed and gave in as I nodded and he smiled widely before gripping my hand.

I let the music take over as we dance in the middle of the overly packed lounge room, every now and then taking a sip from the cup in my hand.

The only reason Calum is even this close to me right now is because I had to be friends with him. But still it wasn't the worst thing in the world to be pressed against him. At least it would be easy to knee him in the balls if he pissed me off.

"I miss you Kandy." He whispered next to my eye suddenly, making me cringe.

I was just about to tell him I still didn't want him to call me that when I spotted Ashton over Calum's shoulder. He was watching us with a blank face until he caught my gaze on him, he flicked his head to the side in a way that was telling me to follow him outside and I sighed as I felt my whole body spark with anticipation and excitement.

I quickly chugged down the rest of my drink and took a small step away from Calum as I was careful not to stumble into anyone else.

"I'm just going to get another drink." I stated and watched his eyes dull.

"I'll be back." I mumbled and he obviously heard as he nodded and grinned again.

Honestly I wasn't sure if I wanted to go back over to him but I knew I really did want to go see Ashton so I walked straight outside without even looking to see if anyone was watching.

Ashton pulled me into his chest as soon as I reached him and connected our lips as if his life was dependant on it.

"Hey babe.' He mumbled against my lips and wrapped his arms around my waist and he pushed me against the tree we were standing next to.

Looks like I've got two boys to entertain tonight.
