Year Two
Ready
The next day I was still pretty tired. I went to all my classes but couldnt focus properly. I was still in a bit of a daze from everything that had happened. The concert was amazing. And Ashton had kissed me. Properly this time. Neither of us were drunk or in a relationship. The first time that had happened.
We really needed to talk about it. This meant he liked me, right? It had to. I decided I needed to head around to his place and ask him about it. I needed a bit of clarity on the whole situation.
Once I arrived at Ashton's, I knocked on the door. My stomach was fluttering when I heard movement inside. What was I supposed to say to him? How was I meant to start the conversation?
However my nerves faded a little when the door opened to reveal Calum. He raised an eyebrow as I exhaled a breath.
"Is Ashton here?" I asked, walking in past him.
"No, him and Luke went out to do the shopping. What's up, you look weird?" He responded with a question as I sat on the couch.
"I'm fine, I just need to talk to him" I told him.
"Did something happen with you two? Ashton's been going round with this dopey grin on his face since he got back" Calum stated as he too sat down on the couch.
I felt my cheeks heat up considerably as I shrugged. Since telling Calum I liked Ashton I felt there was no need to lie to him.
"Well at the concert, he kissed me.. But I don't know, we haven't talked about it so I'm not sure how he feels" I explained, twirling the ends of my hair around my finger - a recent habit I had developed.
Calum's face split into a wide grin.
"That's awesome Rach. You like him, he likes you. What more could you ask for?" His voice was cheery.
"That's the thing though. Does he like me? I mean he might've just been caught up in the moment-" I began but was cut off by a new voice.
"Please Rachel. Ashton's been attempting to 'woo' you since pretty much the day he met you" I turned my head to see Michael leaning in his doorway.
Before either me or Calum had a chance to respond, the door opened and Luke walked in followed by Ashton.
"Okay guys, we got bread, milk, vinegar -" Ashton began but stopped suddenly when he saw me.
"Rach! Hey" he greeted, his lips pulling into a goofy grin and his cheeks flushing a little. I felt myself blush a little as well.
"Rachel needs to talk to you! Its important, you guys should should take a walk" Calum interjected quickly, nudging me to get up off of the couch.
Once again Ashton met my eye and I nodded slightly.
"Sure..Sure. A walk sounds great.. Just let me drop these in the kitchen and we'll go" I could tell he was nervous from the shaky tone of his voice. It was strange that his nervousness calmed me but it did.
Once he had returned from the kitchen he looked to me.
"Ready?" He asked.
It was a simple question. Only one-word but it made my stomach flutter. Was I ready? Was I ready for this conversation and what it may lead to?
In that moment I made up my mind.
"Yeah, I'm ready"
