“Shhhhhhh. Babe, you gotta keep quiet.” Luke giggled into my hair.

“Luke Hemmings… did you just giggle?” I smiled up at him.

We were riding in the elevator up to our floor in our original hotel. We had both woken up feeling groggy and hung over but we knew we had to get back before anyone else woke up. He was telling some cheesy joke and I couldn’t keep my laughter down. I really liked this boy. Last night may have been a game changer.

“So what if I did?” he rolled his eyes as the lift stopped.

“I dunno, it was cute.” I shrugged, leaving him alone in the elevator.

“I’m not cute, I’m manly.” He puffed out his chest as he walked towards me.

“Stop! See it’s shit like that, that’s going to get us caught!” I covered my mouth to quiet my laughter down.

“Good girls are bad girls, that haven’t been caught.” He winked as he pushed past me.

“Your own lyrics? Seriously.” I chuckled. “Besides, everyone knows I’m a bad girl, I’ve been caught. You on the other hand, you’re a good girl that hasn’t been caught.”

“I’m a fucking man. I can do as I please.” He crossed his arms over his chest as we stopped in front of his door.

“Oh yeah? Would said man care to kiss the lovely lady in front of him goodbye before we have to pretend this whole night didn’t happen in front of everyone else?” I batted my eyelashes.

“I was going to do that regardless of my man stature.” He smirked as he lowered his lips to mine.

I couldn’t help but smile into the kiss when he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me in tight. There was something different about the way he kissed me now, compared to the first time during the first tour stop. I wish I knew what had changed in him, but nonetheless, I liked it.

It made me think back to Calum though. There was always the heat and passion from the very first day in the closet. Boys say we’re a confusing gender, well, they’ve got it all wrong.

I felt Luke take a few steps forward, causing me to take a few steps back. On the last step, my back hit the wall. He started to run his hands up and down my sides, eventually tangling one through my hair. Things were getting hot again except this time we were in a hallway of a hotel, not a personal room.

I heard a door click open but couldn’t get Luke off of me in time.

“Well at least you’re still alive.” I heard Ashton’s monotone voice boom throughout the hall. “Could have done without seeing my best mate stick his tongue down my little sisters throat, but at least you’re still alive.” He mumbled as he passed us heading towards the elevator.

“Where are you going?” Luke asked, taking a measurable step away from me.

“I woke up early because I’ve been worried sick since no one told me you’d be out all night. Literally all night. So I’m going to the gym. I need to work out some stress.” He rolled his eyes as the lift dinged, signaling it was to our floor.

“Um Ashton…?” I asked, reluctantly.

“What Kenz?” he whipped his head to the side to look at me.

“Can you not mention what you just saw to anyone?” I bit my fingernail.

“Wouldn’t dream of getting into the middle of this fucked up love triangle.” He rolled his eyes before stepping completely into the elevator.

“What does he mean love triangle?” Luke looked at me. “You told me you and Cal had nothing going on?”

I chuckled nervously with a shrug. Fuck Ashton. “Yeah, I don’t know what he’s talking about.”

“Positive?” Luke raised an eyebrow.

“Swear on my life.” I nodded.

“Good, I know you’re being honest because you love no one more than yourself.” He chuckled.

“Hey!” I hit his arm. “That’s mean… but true!”

“Exactly, see you later babe.” He kissed me one last time before slipping his room key into the door.

I watched as he disappeared behind the closed door. I sighed loudly, heading towards my room. I needed to get a grip. I slipped my own key into my door and tried to stay as quiet as possible. I didn’t want to wake Piper up. I changed into some comfortable clothes and hopped into bed. I tucked myself in tight, hoping I would be able to get a few more hours of semi-decent sleep.

“Is the bet over?” I heard Piper mumble from the bed beside me.

“Not yet.” I answered.

“Damn.” She rolled back over, falling back into a light snore.

I wasn’t sure the bet would ever really end on this tour. Skylar had been getting pretty close to Mikey, but I really hadn’t spent a lot of time with the girls lately. That’s exactly what today called for. A girl’s day out before the concert tonight. I missed my best friends even though they were right here with me. We needed to sit down and have a girl’s day. I reached for my phone on the bedside table.

To: Sky, Scar, Pipe: How about a girl’s day out?

I pressed send and set my phone back down. I snuggled in tight to bed missing the warm feeling of arms being wrapped around me. I always thought at a moment like this, it would be when I decided who I needed to be with. I thought I’d picture who I would want behind or beside me, but like usual, both boys came into my mind. Calum was a great spooner and Luke’s chest was a great pillow for my head.

Maybe one day I’d know what I wanted. Maybe my heart would straighten out my brain or vice versa, hopefully soon.




Later that day

“I’m so glad we decided to do this!” I smiled at Skylar.

“I feel like we never see you anymore, Kenz!” Scarlett glared at me.

“Sorry, I’ve been a little preoccupied I guess.” I shrugged, stirring my milkshake.

The girls and I decided that we were going to grab lunch, go shopping for new outfits for tonight’s show and then make our way to the venue at some point. We stopped at some cute little diner and were taking in lunch now.

“Preoccupied sucking dick.” Sky wiggled her eyebrows.

“Like you aren’t!” I shot back with a stern gaze.

“Hmmm…” she started. “You got me there!”

“What!!! You didn’t tell us this!” Piper almost shouted.

“Yeah, seriously spill the details.” Scar added.

“It happened like I don’t know, last week?” Skylar shrugged.

“You’ve waited a week to tell us this?” piper looked offended.

“What about Mackenzie?!” Skylar pointed at me. “She’s been out gallivanting with Calum AND Luke, but no one wants to talk about that?!”

“Well gee thanks Sky.” I joking stuck out my tongue. “But she’s right, you guys deserve an explanation.”

“So spill.” Scar said.

“It’s really simple to be honest.” I shrugged. “I like them both! It started out as the bet with Luke, I was only getting closer to him so I could win, but I’ve accidently developed feelings.”

“Accidently?” Piper rolled her eyes.

“Well it’s not like I got on the plane at home and had it all planned out to fall for one of them, let alone two! You guys know best that Mackenzie Irwin doesn’t do feelings.” I flicked my hair off my shoulder.

“So have you and Luke…you know?” Skylar asked.

“No, we haven’t and before any of you ask, I haven’t with Calum either.” I started. “Honestly, I thought I would be moving faster with Calum but Luke has been surprising me. He’s quite assertive.”

“What do you mean?” Scar raised an eyebrow.

“Well you guys know how Cal is. He’s upfront and forward but with me, it’s like he different. He still cracks his usual sex jokes and we’ve been in positions for something to happen, but he never pushes anything. I wasn’t expecting him to be so sweet and caring. He takes me out on dates and it’s almost like he’s romancing me. It’s weird coming from him but I like it.”

“So what’s the problem?” Skylar asked.

“Then I always remember the bet and I go back to Luke.” I sighed.

“Mackenzie, look at me.” Scarlett started. I did as I was told and locked eyes with my best friend. “If you like Calum, don’t let this bet ruin that! Date Calum, be his girlfriend, get married, make babies, be happy. Fuck this bet if you really like him.”

“Listen to Scar for once Kenz.” Skylar added.

“You guys didn’t let me tell you about Luke.” I looked around the table. Everyone gave me their undivided attention. “He’s not like normal Luke that we knew in school. He’s got a wild side no one knows about. He’s spontaneous and outgoing. He cares too but it’s different. He doesn’t treat me like I’m fragile, he knows I can handle whatever he throws at me. Last night, he took me to this street festival and then he rented a hotel room for us. I was so scared.”

“Since when does Mackenzie Irwin get scared?” Piper giggled.

“Right?! Now do you see what these boys are doing to me?” I chuckled.

“So what did you guys do last night though?” Scar asked.

“Um, we sort of, did some things.” I shrugged. I knew that wasn’t going to satisfy them so before anyone could ask what, I told them. “Head and ate me out. There.”

“You’re ahead of me then.” Skylar said. “I’ve only given Mikey head.”

“So what does that mean for you and Calum then?” Piper asked, curiously.

“Well, that’s why I need a girl’s day. I need help.” I smiled.

“I have an idea!” Scar said.

“Good lord, that’s never good.” Sky joked.

“Whatever, hear me out.” I nodded at Scar. “Okay, you can go on dates with both the guys and we’ll watch from afar and see how you act with each of them. We’re you’re best friends, I know we’ll be able to tell who you like more.”

“I don’t know about that.” I shook my head.

“Why not, Kenz? We do know you better than you know yourself half the time.” Piper added.

“I mean I guess so.” I shrugged. “Fine, fine we’ll do it.”

“Okay!” The girls shouted together.

“I’ll set up dates with both of them then let you know.” I sighed, I wasn’t so sure about this idea. “BUT! If you guys tell either of them about each other or that you’re even going to follow us, I’ll ship you home!”

“Noted, we aren’t ruining this trip for anything!” Scarlett said.

I glanced down at my phone, noticing the time. “If we want to shop before the show we better go.”

“Yeah, I definitely could use something cute.” Skylar said.

“OOOOHHHHHH for Mikey?” Piper laughed.

“Shut up.” Skylar rolled her eyes.

“Oh yeah, how’s it going with Ashton, Scar?” I asked, curious.

“I don’t know really. He’s nice but I don’t think he’s interested past friends.” she frowned. “Maybe you could talk to him and figure it out?”

“Yeah, I can. I need to talk to him soon anyways, he’s all pissed off at me.”

“Why?”

“He saw me and Luke sucking face this morning.” I giggled.

“Yeah, I don’t blame him! I would be mad if I saw my little sister and my best mate eating each other’s faces.” Piper added.

“Any word on you and Calum?” I asked Piper.

“No, he’s nice but I think even if you weren’t involved, he still wouldn’t be interested. He’s always starring at girls everywhere we go.” she said.

“Oh really?” I asked, almost hurt.

“I mean, kind of, they all do it.” Piper tried to cover it up quickly.

“Hmmm.” Was all I said. I’d get to the bottom of that. But it wasn’t really like I had any room to talk. I was fondling his best friend.

“Now, let’s go shop.” Scarlett said, trying to keep me from thinking too hard.

But it didn’t really work. Of course I was going to think about this all day. Calum is checking out other girls and flirting. Of course. But on the other side, I wasn’t any better. Tour wasn’t supposed to be this complicated. Maybe the girls were right, maybe I should take the bet out of the picture and see who I like more. Luke opened up to me in an incredible way, which has to count for something major.

I’ll figure it out. I always say that, but this time I mean it. I’m going to figure it all out.
