The Spy Within

Settling In.

We got dropped off at the airport a couple hours after leaving Black Cove, the man at the door taking our belongings from the trunk of the car and loading it onto a cart that he brought with him. The wind picks up, forcing me to close my jacket around me tighter. Its always cold around here. The sun wasn’t out yet, the stars still twinkling in their spots in the sky. I stand by Ryan as I check my phone for the time. 3:00 am. Another hour to go.

The man finishes removing the luggage and wheels in the cart to the loading area. We follow the man inside, Ryan letting me go inside first. We got ourselves checked in and awaited in some seats by the gate. I rested my head against Ryan’s shoulder, the drowsy feeling returning from my early morning. Ryan, however, seemed unaffected by the early wake up call.

“How are you not tired?” I mumbled. He draped his arm around my shoulders, tugging me closer to him.

“I don’t know, guess I’m used to it.” he shrugs.

“What do you mean? Do you always wake up this early?” I look up at him.

“Sometimes. I mostly head to the gym for an early workout.”

“Oh.” I replied.

I rested my head back to it’s previous position. I glance out in front of me, watching the few amount of people passing by, rushing to get to their flights. Here’s me, about to head out to America. A land that I haven’t been to, in forever. About to see new things. Different personalities, people, culture. A whole other point of view of life.

“You asleep?” Ryan whispers softly. I grin slightly, looking up at him.

“Nope.” I chuckle.

“You excited to go to America?” He questions me. I shrug.

“Sort of.”

“Don’t worry, everything will be fine.” He pauses for a moment. “Do you have the files still?” he pokes at my side, making me squirm.

“Really… I’m trying to sleep. I’ll get it out later.” I mumble into his chest, curling up. He laughs quietly, shaking me slightly.

“Come on. I need to read it.”

“You already did yesterday.”

“I need to read it again.”

“You remember it. I know you do.”

“Please?”

“No.”

“Please??”

“No, Ryan.”

“Please, Elizabeth?” He smirks.

“No Ryan.” I huff, and remove myself from him. I got up from the chair, and laid down on the floor a couple feet away from him, so he isn’t in kicking distance, and proceeded with my resting. I’m already in sweatpants and a jacket, so it was alright for me to casually lay down. I hear rustling of the travel bag that he brought with us, mostly with my needs before I sense him close by me. I open my eyes, startled by his close proximity.

“Ryan, I just want to sleep, leave me be.” I shove him away from me, and turn to face the chairs.

“Alright, alright.” His arms picked me up from the floor, and placed me on his lap as he sat down. He then moved his arms around me, so I won’t fall over and stay in place.

“Ari. Wake up.” I hear someone say. I flutter my eyes open to see the one and only smiling at me.

“Morning.” I tell him, before rolling over to my side, bringing the blanket to my head.

“Come on now. We got to get to breakfast. No sleeping.” The blanket was yanked away from me, a cool breeze hitting my bare legs, forcing me to curl up.

“Niall…” I whined. He made a tsk noise at me before lifting me from my small enclosure and draping me on his shoulder.

“Gee, how nice of you.” I sarcastically stated as I swung side to side with every step Niall took.

“You know it.” Even though I couldn’t see his face I could tell he was smirking.

“Good morning!” Many voices shouted from my blind spot, bringing a smile to my face. I was turned and was greeted with the owners of the other voices.

“Hey Ari, wake up!” I was shaken, snapping me awake. I stood up straight in my seat, looking around.

“What?” I frantically asked.

“You were sleeping. Just wanted to tell you that we just took off.” Ryan smirked at me. I slouched back in my seat, my hand going through my hair.

“Alright.” I answer him. He nods and starts to mess with the small tv in front of him, going through the selection of movies. Did I really just dream of Niall? That arse? Where was I? Who were those people? Where was Ryan? That was horrible. I look out the window, the lights of London slowly burning out as we pass through the clouds, growing weaker and weaker. My home. Goodbye.

“Do you want to watch a movie or sleep?” He asks me, pulling me out of my thoughts.

“You know that if I watch a movie, I will fall asleep not even half way through it.” I smirked at him.

“True. So I’ll pick the movie. You put these on.” He hands me a pair of headsets that they provided for us and I place them on my head. The clicks of Ryan picking the movie was heard through the headsets, as I lay down on his shoulder and close my eyes, not even going to pay attention either way.

Once we landed, there was a chauffeur waiting for us, holding a white sheet of paper reading Elizabeth Rogers and scribbled on the bottom in pencil was Ryan Williams. I pointed it out to him, and he just sighed, making me crack up. We collected our bags and got into our car. Ryan sat down in the passenger seat, while I took up the back seat with the travel bag.

“Madame, we have your hotel room ready for you, and luckily there is a second bed in one room. Is it alright with you to share a room with Mr. Williams?” He asks, in a noticeable french accent, one that I had become accustomed to all my life.

“Yes that is alright, I suppose.” I say, looking out the window. The flight was about 6 hours, and by now it would be 10 am in London. So here in Boston it should be 5 am. The sun was slowly peeking out of the horizon, casting a red glow onto the morning sky.

“Ari, look at this.” I heard Ryan say. I looked in his general direction of view to see that we stopped at the Boston Harbor Hotel, looking incredibly fancy from the outside.

“Absolutely gorgeous.” I say.

“Yes, Walter wanted the best for your stay.” I hear the driver say. We pull up to the front and exit the cab. The bellman at the door comes and removes the bags. I take the travel bag, and sling it over my shoulder, only for it to be removed seconds after. Ryan smirks at me as he places it on his own shoulder.

“I got it. You can go get the rooms, please.” He asks kindly. I roll my eyes in amusement but head to the front desk inside. Many teenage girls stood inside, screaming when I opened the door, stopping when they see me. A blond woman that appeared to be in her late 40’s eyed me from her seat.

“They aren’t here yet. You have to wait, please?” She asks rudely. My eyes widened.

“I’m here for the room under Chester Hayward.” I say, using Walter’s cover name. She continues to stare at me before scanning her list, eyes widening when realization hit.

“My apologies, ma’am. I thought you were one of the Directioners. Here is the key. Enjoy your stay.” She says quietly, avoiding eye contact, placing the key card on the table.

“Directioners?” I ask. She nudged her head to the large crowd of girls. I shook my head at her and thanked her before making my way to the elevator. Ryan was already there waiting for me.

“Tough lady?” He questions as we step into the elevator. I shrug.

“She cooperated either way. It was alright, but what is with them being called Directioners?” I question as the screams get louder. He shrugs, not having a clue. I try to look at whom has entered, but the crowd was too large. These men in black appeared, pushing through the crowd with what I thought was five guys right behind. When I took a good look at the first three, my heart dropped, just as doors shut, blocking my view.

“Hey, you okay?” Ryan asks, concerned. I nod.

“Yeah, I thought I saw someone, that’s all.”

“You sure? You look a bit pale.” He continues. The elevator dings, signaling our arrival. The doors open revealing a long elegant hallway. I stride out first, counting the numbers on the doors that I pass until we got to 46.

“This it?” He asks. I nod and hand him the key card. He opens the door and gestures for me to enter. I take my first steps in, awe and beauty hitting me hard.

“It looks even better in the inside.” I say, astonished. The walls were a cream white, the furniture Cheshire brown, the sheets on the bed a golden color with floral prints, with a dark brown throw pillow in the center of the two beds.

“Shall we make ourselves at home?” He asks, dropping onto the bed, claiming it as his.
