Killing The Studio

Lexi's Pov.

I strummed the strings of my bass guitar to the song "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor. Soon after I heard my band mate's instruments start to play along after me. I looked to my right where my band mate, Elise, was strumming along with her guitar. As I turned to my left, where my band mate Celeste was in the middle of a solo I saw something on the poster board behind her. There was a large poster, with words I couldn't quite make out. The only words that were actually intelligable on the poster, were bolded. It read ,"Battle Of The Bands!!" I tried to focus on the chords I was playing, but excitement was building up in me. I could hardly focus on the song, I could get distracted sometimes -this was one of those time. Then the chorus came on and I had to sing. I did my best to force my mind off the poster and perform. I wanted to pour all of my devotion into this performance but my mind wouldn't allow it. I only sang when my part came on, or when the chorus repeats itself. Finally, the song ended.

As I looked behind me I saw my bandmate's Vivian, Everly, and Jasmine all smiling. Everly smiled widely and twirled her drumsticks in one hand before slamming them back down on the drums. Then we started to pack up our instruments, our set at Rockpool Bar&Grill was over. Vivian and Elise packed away their guitars into their cases. I put away my bass back into it's case. Everly and Jasmine just walked off stage since theur instruments were loaned, and the their actual ones were at their homes. Celeste didn't play an instrument and just sang, which was still good since she had an amazing voice. The six of us walked off stage.Vivian, Everly, Jasmine, and Elise all walked to a table and sat down. They all started engaging in excited banter about the set we had just performed. Celeste went to the bar to order our food, what we usually did after our weekly gig here. Instead I walked over to the board that had caught my attention during our performance. As I neared the board I started to get more excited. I read the poster as I finally could see what it all said.
It gave all the standard rules thaf any battle of the bands would have "must be ameuture bands" and all that nonsense. Then something caught my eyes that almost made me sqeaul in excitment. The grand prize was a record deal. I read the rest if the poster much more carefully now. It said that there would be "celebrity" mentors to the groups, but that was something I seriously doubted. It would probably be a local celebrity. I started to scramble for a pen until I felt something tap my shoulder. I jumped and looked up quickly. I relaxed as soon as I saw that it was only Nikki, Elise's little sister. My little sister, Rachel stood right behind her.
"Lexi? What are you doing? You're usually eating hot wings by now." Said Rachel. Her eyes had a curious look in them.
"Oh, I was signing-"
"A battle of the bands?" Nikki intereupted. She read the poster behind me.
"Yeah, I was going to sign up the girls and I." I explained. Nikki shook her head.
"Go eat hot wings, we'll sign you up." She said and grabbed a pen from her bag.
"Really? Thank you!" I called over my shoulder ad I walked away. When I reached the gable I saw that Elise and Celeste weren't there, but Vivian, Jasmine, and Everly were having a random conversation.
"Where are Celeste and Elise?" I asked. Everly looked up at me and pointed at the bar,
"Over there." She said. I muttered a "thanks" as I walked towards them. I saw that Elise and Celeste where talking to the owner of the restraunt. Once I reached them Elise turned to me.
"Oh hey, Lexi! Did you hear? There's going to be a battle of the bands contest here!" she said excitedly.

"Oh yeah, I know. Nikki and Rachel signed us up." I said. As soon as I said that Celeste's face lit up. She could be a bit closed off sometimes, but she loved performing.

"Really? That's amazing!Tony told us that the grand prize is a record deal! What if we win?!" She said. She was smiling brightly, something that was very special when it came to Celeste. Then as the owner of the resteraunt left we all sat at the bar and ordered waters, we didn't like drinking to often. I zoned off a bit, fantasizing about the contest and what could happen if we did win. Then i was snapped out of my day dream as Elise hissed at me,
"Lexi! Look!" She said nudging her head behind her. I looked past her and saw four boys coming towards us.

So yeah, this was the first chapter. It was sort of co-written by Sammy and I. So I'm writing the chapters from Elise's perspective and Sam is going to be writing Lexi's perspective.Sorry if this wasn't the best....and sorry if there are any typos..Thank you for reading! :) ~Mari
