Troubled

Chapter 5

Zayn huffed loudly and tried to calm down, his fingers running through the wild quiff on his head. His breath was quick and harsh. Eyes dark. He probably didn't know what would he do with a father in his gang.

"Zayn?" I called quietly and my voice reminded him of my old, sweet self. The innocent one.

"Baby," he answered, his elbows still resting against the wall, head low.

In a second, my arms were wrapped around his strong waist, cheek resting against the hard muscles on his back. I hugged him hard.

"Are you okay?"

"No," he replied honestly, "What am I going to do with Mike as a father? How am I going to tell him? Should I kick him out of the gang?"

Gasping lightly, I shook my head against his back.

"No, of course not. Don't worry. I'll tell him. Just not now...she's not ready."

Nodding to himself, Zayn sighed heavily and pushed himself off the wall. Turning around, he caressed my cheek and stared into my eyes.

"We need to talk, Zayn."

Frowning lightly, Zayn moved his hands away and allowed me to push him down on the bed. Sitting next to him, I moved my hands across my thighs and looked at him nervously.
"Where is your sister? Tell me what happened. How did you save her?"

Clenching his jaw, Zayn looked away but I wanted him to give me the answers, no matter how much they hurt him.

"When I came in Spain...Zayn told me where Alejandro lives. He wasn't prepared. I stabbed him and tried to find my sister. She...she was sleeping. She had no bruises on her body."

"I was so relieved that I found her. However, when I took her away and told her that I was her brother she...she slapped me. She didn't want to hear it."

"The worst thing was when she said Alejandro was her brother. And she begged me to let her go back. But I couldn't...Angela, I couldn't..."

Shaking his head, Zayn buried his face into his hands.

"I gave her a house to live in. Zayn is taking care of her. The other boys, too. But she's very sad. And she hates me."

"When I came back here, I found out that you were...different. And I followed you all the time. The boys actually followed you, and when I came back, I followed you by myself for two months before I broke down into your apartment."

I should be mad at him, I knew. He had to understand. I had every right to be mad at him.

"I'm so fucked up. And there's no help for me. I'm possessive, damaged, mad. Insane. I don't deserve you."

I bit onto my trembling lower lip as I stared at him. He chuckled lightly.

"You should be with that guy...Leo..."

I frowned hard and whimpered, throwing my arms around him. He responded immediately by pulling my body against his, his arms squeezing me hard to show how much he cared.
"No...Leo was just a mistake. Every guy that wasn't you was a huge mistake..." I sobbed and hid my face in his marble chest. Zayn looked up at the ceiling and swallowed back the tears that were tickling his eyes.

"God, Angela- "

"I've changed. I know I've changed. But Zayn, I had to. You left me and I loved you so much. But I want to be your Angel again. I want you to help me. Change me."

It was a cry for help, coming straight out of my heart. Zayn's body tensed as I cried more. I wanted him to stop my tears. I wanted him to kiss them away, to leave small kisses over my face, to hold me while she sniffled into his already damp t-shirt.

"I'll help you," he promised.

"Oh my! Look at this cute, little thing!" Eleanor squealed and grabbed a small baby outfit. It was navy blue with yellow stars sprayed across the small t-shirt.

"Oh my," Barbara bit her lip and joined her while Erin and I stood close to them with our arms crossed. My eyes were wide in happiness because I loved babies, but Erin's were narrowed. She would never be a mother.

"Angie, look at this," Barbra gasped and lifted a light yellow outfit with football balls decorating it. Everything looked so cute and small.

"You're definitely buying that one. Mike is obsessed with football. He'd like his son to be a pro in football like him," I grinned but regretted my words when I saw Barbara's sad face.

"Yeah...I'll buy it," she nodded sadly and clutched the small outfit to her chest. The girls rushed over her.

"Shh, it's okay. Don't stress. For the baby."

"For Franco," Barbara whispered.

Widening my eyes, I looked down at her, a smile playing on my lips.

"Franco? Mike's middle name?"

Nodding, Barbara sniffled and giggled lightly. She had those mood switches when she was sad then happy.

"Yeah. I like it."

"Me too," Eleanor nodded.

We continued with shopping but I noticed how quiet Erin was. Her arms were crossed on her chest as she stared down at the ground.

"Erin? What's going on?" I nudged her side but she just shook her head as if nothing was wrong. I knew she was hiding something.

"Wait! What happened with Niall and you? You've never told me."

Taking a deep breath in, I remembered the night when The Devils came back. Niall had picked up Erin off the floor and carried her to the bedroom. He hadn't spoke to her. When I woke up that morning, I had found him in the kitchen, sitting and reading newspapers, rubbing at his light brown stubble. He had a damn stubble.

Erin talked to him but he was so quiet, so far away from her. That was the end. He was around her all the time, but even more mysterious than before.

"He doesn't want to talk to me. Must be because of all the boys I've fucked before," Erin shrugged causing me to cringe.

"Don't say that..."

"But it's true. He hates me when I should be the one to hate him. But I can't. I still fucking love that boy...man," Erin corrected herself and shook her head in disbelief.

I decided to stay silent as we walked from store to store. It was Erin's business; I didn't want to mess in it.

I walked across the shiny floor of the mall and couldn't help myself but feel as if someone was watching me. Looking around in fear, I tutted to myself and kept walking with the girls.

As the time passed slowly, I found myself walking alone around the mall, looking at the shops and searching for more things for the baby. I stopped in front of the shop with lots of baby clothes and toys, and I looked down at my flat belly, wondering how would it feel to have a life inside of me. Especially if it would be Zayn's.
Frowning hard, I looked up and pressed my forehead against the glass as I looked at the shiny shop. Zayn would probably kill me and the baby if I was pregnant. But I was not. Thank God.

Somebody's breath brushed the back of my neck and caused the small hair on my skin to stand up. I shivered. Maybe it was an innocent person who just wanted to shop around...

"Angela, Angela..." An evil voice murmured in my ear and I jumped in fear, spinning around on my heels to be met by Alejandro's dark, seductive eyes.

"I'm so happy to see you again," he smirked and before I could react, he pressed a white cloth over my mouth and nose and I breathed in.
