Still British
Prologue
They’d moved away nearly seven years ago, when she was ten, and she resented every moment of it. She’d lost contact with all of her friends, including her practically-brother-best-friend-she-had-a-crush-on, Harry. That was literally all she remembered about him, as she’d only been ten when they moved, and only really gotten to see him on weekends and holidays. She only even got to meet him because of their parents. Her dad had grown up with his, and when their kids were four and seven, they decided to meet up again to go on holiday together. The kids were inseparable after that. Until 2007.
She still sounded British. She still looked British. She still loved England. She still felt British. And it hurt. It hurt a lot. She’d moved away from the only, and – in her opinion – the best place she’d ever known. She’d lost contact with just about everybody. She’d forgotten. It was painful to realize, but true. She cried herself to sleep the night she realized it.
He’d taken the loss of her pretty hard, too. Not too long after that, he decided he wanted to sing for a career, and formed a band not too long after she left. It was his way of releasing emotions, which he’d been overrun with since she left. A few years after that, he auditioned for X Factor, formed a boy band, and became famous. It looked as though he’d forgotten her, but he hadn’t. At least, not completely. Sure, he couldn’t remember every single thing about her, but he’d started photo albums, one with each important person in his life, and she had one. Hers was nearly full, too. He took the time to go through it every once in a while, but it was so painful…
