Dancing with a Star

06. Disappointing Results

There was no way in hell that I could get through this week.
Evelina and I had the last dress rehearsal early this morning so Evelina’s mother was watching Wesley.
I didn’t want to go back to Emily.
Not after what she did.
Unfortunately, I had to not only speak to her, but dance with her.
That is why it is an hour before show time and I’m stuck in the dressing room literally getting new jeans because my other ones didn’t fit without sucking the life out of me. If I couldn’t breathe in them, how the hell am I supposed to dance in them?
So, I was getting some more. I basically just went home and grabbed my own pair. They were looser and way more comfortable.
“Emily Wainright and Niall Horan!” the director yelled.
I stood up, thankful my clothes were finished and my hair and makeup was finished.
“Okay, there you are, Niall. Where is Emily?”
“I don’t know, sir. I haven’t seen her since I danced with her in rehearsal.”
He nodded and left, continuously screaming her name, ordering me to not move.
So, I sat there for thirty minutes until the director stormed over to me, a pissed off look on his face.
“Have you seen her?”
“No, sir, she hasn’t come here yet.”
“Emily Wainright, if I do not find you within the next two minutes you will not dance this dance, or any other dance for that matter!”
Everyone knew that when he made threats of firing you, he was serious.
Thankfully, another five minutes later, she popped up beside me.
“How pissed is he?”
“Raising Hell pissed. Where in the bloody hell were you?”
“In the back, getting hyped.”
“More like getting stoned. How high are you?”
“Higher than she could ever make you feel, darling,” she said, grabbing my arm lightly and rubbing it.
I shrugged it out of her grip.
“We’re on in ten, we’ll dance, and then never speak to each other again.”
She stormed off to the curtain, knowing damn well that professionals were about to dance.
“Pros to spot, NOW!” the director yelled over the speaker.
Emily ran to her starting position.
Suddenly, Better When I’m Dancing by Meghan Trainor came on.
All of the contestants start showing off our worst dance moves backstage as the pros let it all go.
We are all laughing and cutting up when the music ends.
The contestants all line up quickly.
Emily and Niall!
We both start shaking and it’s amazing how cool she actually is when she is higher than a kite.
This night might be bearable.
I then hear Evelina’s name and I look to see her laughing and completely carefree.
Do we look like that?
Emily went to quickly change as we went to commercial break while I got in position.
During the video tape, which I didn’t really pay attention to, Emily came and stood in front of me, like she choreographed.
We then were introduced, and I closed my eyes, imagining this was Evelina.
The song started and the dance started. I danced to the best of my ability.
Most of the dance was her grinding on me.
Thankfully, the dance didn’t last long.
“Okay, let’s get the judge comments-”
“What the bloody hell was that?” Len started, even though it wasn’t his turn.
“Our dance,” Emily said.
“To me, that was you basically having sex on the dance floor as much as allowed on television. Niall looked extremely uncomfortable on that floor and like he didn’t want to be there, and I don’t blame him.”
Everyone cheered. Not a single noise from the crowd, except people agreeing with him.
“Okay. Len was actually being nice for once. Look, you were trying to have a hot dance. You failed, miserably. Where were the hip hop moves in that dance? All I saw was you grinding on him, and him following because he had to. You used what little power you had over him to your advantage and it didn’t work for you, Emily, at all.”
Everyone was dead silent, waiting for Carrie-Ann’s response.
“I’m not saying anything except that it wasn’t Niall’s fault.”
Everyone was shocked. Carrie-Ann didn’t say a thing.
So, we were directed up the stairs to get our scores, which Erin went right into, ignoring all questions.
“Carrie-Ann Inaba.”
“I’m sorry, Niall. 4.”
“Len Goodman.”
“Lowest score I’ve ever given. 3.”
Everyone gasped while Emily looked downright pissed.
“Bruno Antonio.”
“Four.”
Emily looked at me before storming off backstage.
It was whatever though.
“Alright, well, Niall is going to need your votes with those scores. Call this number to vote and remember you only get nine votes tonight.”
The night continued and it was Evelina, who did a jive. It was great, but the judges didn’t think so.
They gave her two eights and a seven, when her partner was used to getting eight and nines.
“I’m sorry, Whit. I’m so sorry,” she cried to Whitney.
“Hey, you were great. It’ll be okay. Emily just put them in a bad mood.”
She nodded, and then Whitney turned around, seeing me.
“I got this, thank Whitney.”
She winked and nodded.
“Oh, Whitney?”
“Yes?”
“Where do cameras not go?” I whispered, where the camera crew couldn’t hear.
“I’ll distract them, go find a secret spot. The practice rooms are always a safe spot during the show. Just don’t take too long.”
I nodded and grabbed Evelina’s hand, dragging her away from everyone.
We reached our ballroom.
“Evelina, look at me.”
She looked at me with tears in her eyes.
“Yes, Niall?”
“It’s okay. They’ll get through. Although, I hate to tell you that if I don’t go home this week, next week will definitely be it.”
“That’s just it. You can’t.
“What?”
“What?”
“Don’t start this, Eveli.”
She smiled at me.
“The show told me that if I didn’t get past week four, I would not continue being a professional dancer.”
“Wait. Like, a dancer that dances with the contestants…?”
She looked at me, giving me my answer.
“They are going to fire you?”
She bit her lip and nodded.
“Tweet. Post. I don’t care. We will get through this next week. If we get past Disney week, you will be safe.”
“Is that all you want?”
“Of course not.”
“How far do you want to go?”
I sensed the double-sided question.
“As far as you will let me.”

Notes

I'm alive!!
So, good news! I have a new computer! I absolutely love it! Also, on the 22nd of July, I will be screaming at the top of my lungs because I will be seeing 5 Seconds of Summer live in concert! :D My sister and I both are! I'm super excited!
Bad news! I have been working a bunch. Like, I only get two days a week off and on those days, I have been utterly exhausted, so I'm terribly sorry for not updating sooner, but work, the stress of college, and life has gotten in the way.
I will try to update again sometime soon, but no promises!
Stay great and I love feedback and this feedback I am already getting!
Love you guys!

Definitely! Denny's is definitely better! I like the nachos at Dennys. :) Waffle House just isn't good to me. My family loves it, but it makes me sick.
