Dancing with a Star

Following our contemporary dance, we were rushed back stage to get ready for our hip-hop. I didn’t have to change much, just throw a snapback over my head and change clothes. I also had to get a re-touch on my make-up.
Evelina on the other hand? She had to tame the curls on her head, but keep the same look. She had to re-do her make-up, change her clothes, and make sure everything looked perfect.
Doing a transition from a soft, flowy dance to a hip-hop was a big transition, but we did it, only with a few minutes to spare though because as soon as Evelina was done and her hat was secured on, they called our names for the waiting spot.
We did a quick run through before our time was here.
We walked out on stage and Tom introduced us, giving the music guy his cue.
I was by myself, her being surrounded by girls as well. Peta was actually in this dance, so she knew it anyways.
At the start, I looked at the girls, and pretended to spot her. I walked over and tapped her shoulder.
I was basically flirting it up, through dance. Much like I did in Dance with Me Tonight.
Did we have some sexy moments? Yes, but it’s hip-hop and the song is literally talking about sex.
It just wasn’t just grinding though, although there was some of that.
When we finished, I was breathing heavily and was super excited when I saw Bruno jumping up and down, smiling like a fool. Evelina looked at me with a smile.
“Len and I knew it! We knew you had some hip-hop talent in your bones! That was just the right amount of sexy, Evelina, which gave Niall a chance to show off his true talent.”
I hugged Evelina tighter.
The good news about this show is that I can put my arms around her waist and hold her from behind and nobody will question it. Val does it literally all the time.
“That was amazing. For you two to have been apart and Niall learn that from Peta, it was awesome. Evelina, I know that the last time I told you that I lost the dance in your last dance with a big production, I didn’t think that was the case this time. I think you had other dancers, but you still focused on the dance aspect of it,” Len said.
She jumped up a little, making me smile. That’s the thing, Len won’t just critique the celebrities. If he thinks the routine sucks, he’ll tell you.
Carrie-Ann basically said the same thing as the other two, which honestly shocked everyone. She liked my last hip-hop routine.
They were about to go to commercials, so we just stayed at the bottom.
After we got our scores, Evelina would leave and go back to the hospital.
Tom talked for a little bit before we got our scores, which of course was perfect tens.
Tom then told Evelina she is now welcome to return to the hospital, to which she nodded and as they went to commercial break, she ran backstage.
One of us had to stay, so I was going to, and then following the show, I was going to go get all of us some food and then head to the hospital.
As I reached the women’s dressing room, I reached up to knock when the door slammed open and Evelina came out in grey leggings and a t-shirt. She had brushed her hair and then shoved it into a messy bun. She wiped all of her make-up off, and she honestly looked beautiful.
“What?”
“Nothing,” I smirked.
“It’s obviously something.”
“I’ll tell you later. Too many nosey people as it is.”
She smiled before giving me a hug and then leaving.
With Wesley currently awake at the hospital, she wanted to be there every chance she could, especially because we didn’t know what he could do or say.
Doctor warned us that chemo, in the past, has made children act out in ways that they usually don’t.
All I could think of was getting past these next couple of dances before I would join Evelina at the hospital.
Unfortunately, I got a call from her. She was bawling her eyes out, which made me grow worried.
“Evelina, what’s wrong? Is Wesley okay?”
“He’s fine, Niall. He just won’t stop screaming, which is causing a scene. I’ve tried to hush him, but he won’t. He just keeps screaming your name. What am I doing wrong?”
“Absolutely nothing, love. Put him on the phone.”
I then heard a shuffle and screaming, before Evelina telling him it was me, causing the screaming to stop.
“Daddy?”
“Yeah, bud, it’s me.”
“Why won’t you come see me?”
“Somebody has to stay here or Momma will lose her job.”
“Momma can leave.”
“Wesley Sutter, do not disrespect your mother. She loves you very much, Wesley. She just wants what’s best for you.”
“No she doesn’t. If she wanted what was best for you, she wouldn’t let them keep sticking me.”
“Wesley, just trust Momma and I okay? We know what’s best for you. Remember before you met me, you wanted her to be happy, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, them sticking you is helping Wesley, just trust Momma and I okay? We know what’s best for you. Remember before you met me, you wanted her to be happy, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, them sticking you is helping you get better so Momma can be happy again, and so you can dance with Momma again.”
“Will you dance with Momma and I when I get better?”
I felt my heart swell.
This little boy has been through so much, yet his main concern is the woman who gave birth to him. That boy is definitely a Momma’s boy, but that’s what stole my heart, because I saw me in him, even though he isn’t my son, he very easily could be.
“I promise, Wesley. I promise that when you get better, I will dance with you and Momma.”
“Daddy?”
“Yes, Wesley?”
“I love you and thank you for making Momma happy.”
“I love you more than you could ever imagine. Now, I have to go, okay? Give Momma kisses for me.”
As I hung up, I thanked God for private rooms. No one needed to hear that phone call, especially Emily.

So, funny story. I actually thought I updated this a few days ago, but apparently not... so here we are! :)
Thank you guys for being so patient with me!
I have had school, work, and then my grandmother had a minor heart attack so I was dealing with that. Also, I had a friend, well I say friend, we didn't know each other that well, but I knew him and I knew he was a sweet guy. Well, where I live, when you go into one of our big cities there is a huge bridge that you have to cross (I have to cover my eyes when going over it and have never once drove over it), well that guy hit somebody, making his car flip, which made his car go airborne, and he fell off the bridge, killing him instantly.
So, it's been an eventful two weeks.
