Mandolin Rain

Seven

Elliot's POV- Chapter 7

Its been almost two weeks since I helped Harry on the day of his accident. I haven't seen him or heard from him in about a week but I wasn't really holding my breath. Once his mom and band mates got there I figured he didn't really need me anymore. I mean, lets face it, he's world famous, I was just in the right place at the wrong time and he needed me then, not anymore. All good.

“Okay everyone, that's all for today. Thank you for coming, hope to see you all again soon. Please roll up your mats and if you borrowed, put them back in the cubbies in the back. Have a peaceful day.” I finish up my last class of the day. Tuesday's I always teach a late class at 8, I'm usually in charge of locking up for the day because I'm the last one to leave. Everyone usually takes turns during the week closing up shop, mom has Monday’s and Thursday’s, I have Tuesday, another instructor, Polly, has Wednesdays, and thankfully, we have different weekend staff that teach classes on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

After I unroll all the mats and spray them with sanitizer, I let them dry and make my rounds to all the rooms to gather the trash and lower any blinds that any teachers might have forgotten. Count the money in the drawer and place it in the safe below the counter, and quick clean the bathrooms. As I'm walking back towards my room to roll the mats up and turn the lights off something catches my eye at the door. I do a double takeI turn to see none other than Harry. With flowers. Of course the door is locked so he can't get in, and it's raining. Poor Harry. Everything is just dramatic when it comes to him.

I rush to open it and let him in.

“Ah, thanks its a little wet out there!” Harry tries to shake off any extra standing water on himself. “Hi.” He smiles at me as his eyes light up.

“Hi yourself. You shouldn't be getting that cast wet mister.” I point to his leg and grab a towel from behind the desk to throw at him.

“Thanks. It should be fine, I went as fast as I could with these awesome crutches.”

“A regular pro already! I see you still have the sling as well.”

“Yeah, I get it off Friday hopefully. Then this thing on my leg comes off in about four weeks. Can't wait, it's a pain in the ass to do anything.” He runs the towel through his hair to try to dry it as much as possible. “So this is your studio?” He asks looking around.

“Well, not mine, it's my moms, but I'm like the second woman in charge. This is the lobby, and the two studios over there, and the bathrooms. Nothing exciting but we make it work.” I tell him, pointing to everything around the rooms, it helps that the studios have windows so you can see in them, plus bathrooms aren't very exciting to see.

“No, it's nice. Very relaxing.” He says looking around.

“Well, that's because no one else is here. It's quiet.” I elbow him.

“Oh, these are for you!” He finally hands me the white daisy’s he's been holding in his good hand.

“Ah, thank you! Daisy's are actually my favorite.” I smell them, even wet, still smell amazing.

“Well, it's the least I can do for everything you did for me last week. Sorry I haven't called you or tried to talk to you this past week, it's been crazy trying to adjust to life in a cast and a sling, plus dealing with all the press, and insurance, and my mum, I just didn't have time. I'm sorry.” He explains, obviously a little nervous with all of his rambling.

“It's okay Harry. I figured you were busy, I didn't take it personally.” I assure him.

“Well, I don't think flowers are enough. You want to go to dinner with me sometime? Maybe Friday after I get the okay to take my sling off?” Okay, Harry is really nervous now, fidgeting with his hair and tapping his cast free foot.

“I'd love to go out to dinner, but to be honest, I'd rather just hit up a baseball game. The Dodgers are in town that night. I can get tickets really easy. What do you think?” I ask.

“I've never really been to a baseball game, but I'll go.”

“Oh wow, don't sound so excited Harry.” I laugh. “I'll talk to my guy and see what he can get for us.”

“Your guy? Are you a like drug dealer? You have special guys for things?” He teases at me.

“No, my cousin Joe works for the Dodgers. You know, my roommate. He can hook us up behind home plate.” I finish folding the clean gym towels from the dryer and put them back in the basket and notice that it's almost ten at night. “Well, I'm going to close up shop, so either you stay here in the dark or we get wet again outside. I park in the back, so if you want you can come with me and I'll drop you off at your car.” I let him chose.

“Lead the way yoga master.” He slips his arms back in his crutches to follow me. I grab the flowers from the counter and lock the front door once more.

--------------------

Friday rolls around quickly, and thankfully my last class is over with a three so plenty of time to shower and get ready for the game. It starts at seven but with traffic I told Harry I'd pick him up at five. He wasn't super excited that I was picking him up, but I knew my way around the stadium better then he did and I didn't have a cast on my leg to compete with when I drove.

I step out of the shower, quick dry off, lotion everywhere, and run to my room to change. Joe is already gone so I can walk around naked if I want. I opt for a pair of dark skinny jeans and a plain royal blue t-shirt. I like the Dodgers but I don't go all crazy with my clothes. I put my makeup on and start blow drying my hair, I'm just styling my hair in beach waves and wearing my old Dodgers hat, it used to be my brother James' hat but his head got too big.

I answer the 20th text from Harry, all asking what I'm wearing because apparently he has no idea. I chuckle to myself as I slip my shoes on and throw my purse over my shoulder as I grab my keys and off I go.

I arrive at Harry's house as per his directions, and press the button at his gate over and over again until he answers.

“What?” His voice booms over the speaker.

“Let me in, or get your ass out here Harry.” I tell him as the gate buzzes and the gates open. I pull into the drive to an immaculate white structure with perfect landscaping and I can't help by be in awe. Harry is just opening the door and I see his crutches come out, but no sling, so that's an improvement.

“You didn't tell me you had a jeep! My hair will get all messed up.” He whines.

“Oh my god just get in. You can't not have a vehicle like this in California.” I smile widely at him.

“There's no doors.” He complains to me as if I didn't already know, carefully climbs inside and pulls his crutches up. I motion for him to throw them in the back seat.

“I know. It's summer. It's better this way. Feel the breeze on your face. You're being a baby again.” I start the jeep up again.

“Am not. What if we get into an accident?” He asks.

“Well, you wear your seat belt and pray you don't die. Obvious.” I roll my eyes at him.

“Very funny.” I note the sarcasm in his voice.

“I figure we can eat at the game, hopefully traffic isn't too bad. Ready?” I look at him and wait for his nervous nod before I take off.

@All-is-on
Ah thank you!! I'm super excited that you're reading my other stories, Liam's story needs a bit more looking back at it but it was my first! And a lot of people don't like how I ended it, I've been thinking about adding a bonus chapter for a while but I'm all wrapped up in Niall's story at the moment! :)
