Running After You
Twenty Seven
I woke up with a killer headache and in the backseat of the car. I had crust around my mouth and from the smell of my breath, I definitely could tell that I had gotten sick earlier. I don't even remember last night.
I sat up, wondering why I was in the back. “Yo Ni–”
Niall was gone.
I looked out the window, and see I am in an abandoned parking lot. Across the street were some office buildings, and in the lot next to me a hotel. Where would Niall be?
I try to make a list of logical explanations in my head:
—He went to the hotel to go to the bathroom
That's all I had. I climbed into the driver’s seat. I groaned; the arrow pointed to ‘E’.
I took the key of the car and my jacket, exiting the vehicle, and locking it. The wind was cold and dry.
I stomped my way to the hotel. “ ‘Daisy’s Paradise’, ” I read, rolling my eyes and opening the door.
As soon as I walked in, I heard a young man’s voice say, “Hello, can I help you?” I sighed, looking at the man. He had sandy brown hair and brown eyes. He had ink showing from under his long sleeve shirt: it looked like an arrow sign you see on the road.
“I need to know if you've seen someone–blonde hair, blue eyes?” The boy smiled.
“I've seen a lot of blonde-hair-blue-eyes people. What's it to ya?” He smirked devilishly, which infuriated me.
“He– we–” I saw the boy’s smirk widen, and his brow was held high. I looked at the man’s name tag. “Listen– Liam, it is?– I've been in a car with him, driving for months. I don't remember anything from last night, I have no fuel, I don't know where I am, or where he is, and you are not being very helpful at the moment!”
“Well, Miss, you'll have to give me a better description now don't you.” I told him what Niall looked like, and he listened, leaning forward on his desk.
When we had finished talking, Liam turned around and grabbed a key from a hook, and faced me again. “Why don't you get your pretty face some sleep, and we’ll start looking tomorrow.”
