Running After You
Sixteen
The morning was awkward, though I knew Niall only remembered the part about Naomi. He looked like a lovesick, depressed puppy; and it killed me.
We had sat down at a local breakfast eatery just a few minutes from the hotel.
"I was thinking," I said, hoping not to scare him with my cautious tone, "I think it would be best if I left your little road trip. I'd give you my car, I'll just find a small flat somewhere, and then..." I shrugged, but Niall looked at me like I'd grown two additional frog heads and was doing the Macarena.
"I, uh.." I trailed off, getting lost in his ghostly gray/blue eyes. They were the prettiest thing you'd ever saw.
"No," he stated. I furrowed my eyebrows. "We're in this together, yeah?" I frowned, then put on my best fake smile.
"Yeah, uh, of course."

I had said my goodbye to Zayn, and we packed up the car with our luggage and junk. Niall still wasn't fond of him, though.
"So, we're now going to … where, exactly?" I questioned him. Niall put on a smile, like it was Christmas and he'd gotten his favorite toy.
"A friend of mine in Cheshire. We'll stay a his house for a while," he said, then looked over at me. "Is that okay?"
"Um, yeah, I guess. It's your goose chase, not mine." He frowned, but started up the car again and onto the highway.
