Running After You

"Well, she's just got a bad case of the flu," the doctor said to me after pulling me aside and away from Rosa. "Just give her three of these for the next two days, and she'll be alright." He handed me some pills. "Oh, and you shouldn't travel until she's better, alright?"

I thanked the doctor, paying him for coming and then showed him the door. Rosa was laying on the bed, a wet cloth on her forehead and her eyes closed.

"What is it?" She asked.

"Just a case of the flu. You'll live through it," I teased. She smiled wearily. "Do you want me to get you some water?"

"Yes, please," she said.

When I came back with her water, I told her how we shouldn't be on the road until she got better. "Maybe two or three days," I said. She nodded, sitting up in the bed.

"Niall, I'm hungry," she said. "Throwing up does that to you, doesn't it?" I nodded, smiling at her before phoning room service.

"Niall! That's expensive! I meant, like, fast food or something," Rosa scolded me when I came back. I shrugged, knowing I had enough in my bank account anyway.

"I'm going to take a shower, okay?" I said. "If the room service comes, here's my card." I showed her credit card, putting it on the table near the door, then opening the bathroom door an putting on the shower.

There was a knock at the door. Niall was still in the shower, so I was the one who had to get the stuff. Great.

I put the now warm cloth that had been on my head into the small sink, grabbing Niall's credit card and going to the door. Opening it, a boy around my age, or maybe a little older, with brown eyes and black hair came in, pushing a cart with the food Niall ordered on it.

"Hello," I said.

"Um, Hi," the boy said. I handed him Niall's card, and he swiped it into a small machine. He gave it back. "I need a signature, miss."

"Oh," I said. "Um, I'm sorry, he's in the shower. Could you wait here?"

"I, uh, guess?"

"You won't get in trouble, I promise," I said. "He'll be out any minute."
