chapter 1
Chapter 1:
I was reading ‘The Hunger Games’ for the fifth time this year when my mother called me upstairs. “Why is there a suitcase on your bed” I asked when I walked into her room.
“If you would be patient I just might tell you”. I walked over to the bed and flopped hitting my head on the suitcase.
“Super klutz is on the way to… hurt herself?” I sat up rubbing the back of my head. “So, the suitcase?”
“Well super klutz what I’m about to say is very important so listen up. And before I say this you have to promise not to get mad” if this is what she is starting with, oh gosh.
“I promise” Which may have been a lie.
“Well we’re moving to the UK.”
well I’ve always wanted to go there. “where in the UK?”
“a little village called Holmes Chapel” I was still in shock because we weren't the type to just up and move.
I didn't’t want to get to make a scene so I just got up and said “well I’m going to do some research and I'll get back to you”. My mom knew I was upset anyway because I only do that clinical robot thing when I’m trying to process my feelings (ironic right). She didn't say anything as I left. As I sat down at my computer I thought I might cry but I didn’t. I wasn't exactly attached to anything here. I guess I wasn’t too upset because I didn't have much to lose. I actually did do some research on Holmes Chapel. Let’s just say it was ‘picturesque’. Well my mom had always wanted to live in a little town instead of the city; well I guess she was getting what she wanted.
—————
As I packed up the last of my room I thought about how things would be when we got there. I would probably be labeled as a nerd on the first day of school. I was definitely going to miss New York. It was a really big change but that’s why my mom told me we were moving because I “needed a life change” and I “should experience life” BS. I called my ‘friend’ Jessica to say goodbye but I got no answer. I got ready to go putting on a pair of sweatpants and a tee shirt along with my doc martins and glasses. I really don't need the glasses I just like them. I left my hair alone because I knew I would fall asleep on the plane and it would get messed up. As we left I wondered why I ever wanted to stay. When we got on the plane I set my iPod to shuffle and watched the plane lift off as I fell asleep.
