Just A Little Bit
Fifteen
A bland constant ringing woke me from deep slumber. I woke with hair in my eyes, arms pressing me flush against a very bare Zayn. My back was to his front, his chin nuzzling to the top of my head, hands cupping my hips and holding me in place. He looked so peaceful, sleepy hair ruffled and tossed everywhere but still looking perfectly. The stubble I first saw almost a week ago was growing thicker and darker. His eyelashes lay perfectly across his cheekbones.
I turned away from him to find the source of the obnoxious sound lying on the floor near my bag I dropped in the middle of the floor last night. I lifted Zayn's arms away from me gently, wriggling from his side and padding over to the phone.
I answered it without checking the ID.
"What?" I snapped, feeling slightly annoyed that the caller had ruined my peaceful sleep. And Zayn had stayed the night with me, cuddling against me. How long had we been like that?
"Did I wake you?" Calum's worried voice sang from the other line. I glanced at the clock. Almost nine in the morning. I sighed heavily. It was only Calum. I guess it could be worse.
"Yeah but I probably needed to get up anyways."
I moved around the dorm, picking up both Zayn and I's dirty clothes and throwing them in the hamper. It looked almost full and considering classes started tomorrow I needed to wash them. I frowned at the thought. I hated doing laundry- I could do any other chore, but that.
"So classes start tomorrow and I was wondering if you want to go do something before we all become insanely busy again." He rushed, still nervous to ask me out. I glanced over my shoulder at Zayn to see he had moved in his sleep, but his eyes were still closed. I look away.
"What did you have in mind?"
"Paint balling. I know a guy who knows a guy that could get us and a couple friends in for half the price per person. I was thinking tonight at 5:30, so we get that at 6. It's an hour and a half session."
Hm sounds fun. Not something someone does all the time. "How many friends can I bring?"
"Well, the deal is for ten to twelve people. I'm bringing the boys, so that makes three plus me and you, so six. We need four more people."
"Cool I'll ask Elizabeth and maybe a guy from work."
"Awesome. I'll pick you up at 5:30."
"Thanks."
"Talk to you later."
I hung up and tossed my phone back in my bag, going to the dresser drawers. My pajama shirt was lying on the floor completely forgotten from last night. I picked it up and threw it over my head, fumbling in the bottom drawer for some jean shorts and underwear.
I turned, ready to wake Zayn. I stopped startled to see his shining auburn eyes flaming at me, his head resting against the wall and his naked chest gleaming before ending beneath the covers.
"Who was on the phone?" Oh his morning voice was to die for. I angled my toes to close in on each other so I stood pigeon toed.
"Calum."
Zayn groaned and ran a hand through his just-fucked hair. "What did he want?"
"He wanted to go paint balling."
"Oh?"
"Yeah. I thought it would be something different. He knows a guy that knows a guy that can give us a discount."
"Do you need money?"
I shook my head, remembering I got paid yesterday. Zayn sighed heavily and leaped from the bed. I flushed and looked away. His warm chuckle sounded too close.
"Where are my clothes?" He asks.
I nodded towards the clothes bin.
"I can wash them for you."
"Can I go paint balling with you?" He asks suddenly, skimming my knuckles with his thumb. I followed the movement with my eyes before not being able to handle it and pressing my left thumb against his.
"If I find Elizabeth and Kevin, I can invite two more people. You can come if you choose. I don't know how well that would blow over with Calum though."
"Ah," He hummed, still stark naked in my room. I reached up, smoothing over his fuzz. It was scratchy and thick and I loved the way it made him look immaculate and older in a way. "Should I ask who Kevin is?" I giggled and he smiled, eyes brightening in humor.
"Someone from work."
"Then he's older and I don't need to worry?"
"You sound like a possessive boyfriend."
"I don't share well, Grace." He shot me a pointed look and I stifled a grin. He hadn't denied the boyfriend part and I wondered how he saw me through his eyes. Did he see me as just another hopeless romantic or another girl on his list? Or did he see me as something else? Maybe he was persistent to sleep with all of his toys.
"Who else should I bring?" I mumbled, breaking away from him and pacing around the room. I felt Zayn's eyes follow me around curiously. "Oh I know! I think David is in town! He'll like this idea!"
I looked back to Zayn with glee. His face had gone from warm to cold. I frowned at him. "What?" I asked skeptically.
"Another male? Grace..." He looked uneasy with this prospect, shifting on his feet. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. "He's my brother. And he's gay." Zayn dropped his stone exterior, mouth open to form an O.
"What time should I pick you up?"
"Calum will pick me up. Meet us there at 6." I smiled generously, bending down to find my phone again. I needed to make a couple calls.
"You do realize its now a competition against Calum and I?" I puckered my lips, not liking the idea of a competition between two opposites that represented what my mind wanted for me and what my body wanted from me.
Zayn was openly admitting to me that he wanted me? Like the way Calum wanted me? Did I want him as a boyfriend? His sex, yes, and his body, yes. He was a little wacky sometimes, changing moods in an instant. A little possessive- territorial. But he had bought me a car, treated my red wrists, didn't want to have sex with unless I was sober.
He had some morals. As much as it could be hard to tell, he did have some feelings, or some glimmers of emotions. I could tell just by searching closely in his eyes.
I wanted the full story on him, how he was how he was. Was it just pure selfishness that he did what he did? I didn't believe that. There was so much more to him that I wanted to know. It only made sense to want to be with him to find out.
There was no denying I was attracted to him. I couldn't doubt there was more than physical desire.
"I'll wash your clothes and then you can go." I smiled lamely at him, dodging his wondering hands and grabbing the dirty clothes. "Stay here and don't be seen because...well..." I gestured to his naked body and slammed the door closed behind me before I could here his tantalizing laughter.
I had my phone in my hand quickly, dialing my friends. Even though I spoke and did other things, one thing was occupying my mind quite thoroughly.
Calum or Zayn?
O.o GRACE IS DEAD?! NOOOO!!
