Chapter 18
Marilynn
We headed towards the exit. I got bloated as hell. Damn that ravioli was bomb. The previous waiter held the door opened for us until we left. “Mary, did you find the waiter attractive?” my mother scolded.
“He’s a good looking guy.” I nodded.
“I just hope that your politeness was only politeness and not flirting.”
“Mom-“ I began but she interrupted me.
“Because your father wouldn’t want you flirting with the lower class, keep that in mind. Waiters don’t make much and they can’t provide stable homes.” She said lowly.
“I wasn’t flirting, I was being nice. Obviously you wouldn’t be able to comprehend that.” I fired back.
“I think it’s time we go back home.” Deloris spoke up.
“I think you’re right.” My mother replied, glaring at me one last time before walking towards the car.
“Hey sis maybe you shouldn’t be so hard on mom nor yourself.” Lori suggested.
“She’s the one accusing me of flirting with some waiter. That isn’t fair.” I told her.
“Look I know exactly how you feel but move past this. We don’t have dad and one day we won’t have mom either. Be nice to her.” Deloris had a point and whether or not I wanted to believe what she said; it never really hit me that what she was saying was true.

After being in the car for what seemed like forever, we arrived home and even Lori had a great point and all, I needed sometime before I started up a conversation with my mom.
