Shopping
"OMG I can't believe you're going to London!" my friend, Nicole shouted. We were in the mall shopping for clothes that I was supposed to wear while in London. I didn't want to, but I had to, because it was my last day in LA before leaving for London.
"Shut up! Or at least keep it down!" I hissed at her.
"Shut doesn't go up, Car," she retorted.
"No, but your jaw does," I replied, smiling. "Let's get going. We have to meet the others at the food court in five minutes."
We walked in silence until we got to the food court, then were attacked by Mika and Ashton, our other friends.
"I can't believe you're flying to London tomorrow! Aren't you excited?!" Mika asked, jumping up and down.
"Well, yeah, except you guys aren't coming with me. What will you ever do without me?" I said dramatically, putting the back of my hand on my forehead.
"Oh, dear! I hadn't thought of that! What ever will we do without you here?" Ashton said, mimicking my actions.
"Come on! Let's get shopping!" Nicole said, practically bursting with excitement. I never let her shop for me. And this is why.
"Okay! Forever 21 first!" she shouted, grabbing mine and Mika's hands and pulling us in the direction of the store.
"But I'm hungry!" Ashton protested.
"Ugh! Fine! But only 'cuz I love you, Ash," Nicole said, groaning. She let go of our hands and stomped dramatically back toward the food court.
"Yay!" Ashton squealed, running toward the McDonald's kiosk like a kid in a candy store on a sugar high. Then she turned around and put her hands on her hips. "Carmella Maria Bratlie, you are going to get McDonald's with me. Junk food ain't gonna kill you," she drawled in her Southern accent. "No Subway!"
"Fine! But you can't stop me from eating at Subway when I'm in London," I said, stomping after her.
After eating a Big Mac and a large chocolate shake, Ash and I waited for Nikki and Mika to finish eating their food. I munched on fries, and Ash munched on fries she stole from me. When she reached for more, I slapped her hand away.
"You always eat McDonald's! Let me have my moment!" I said, shoving another fry in my mouth.
"But I already finished my fries!" she protested.
"And half of mine!" I retorted, shoving a handful in my mouth. "Om nom nom nom nom!" I said loudly.
Ashton just growled at me.
"Ready to go?" Nikki asked, bouncing in her seat.
"Yeah. I was supposed to pick up Carmen from Justice ages ago!" I said, hopping down from my seat.
"How is Carmen, by the way?" Mika asked.
"She's fine. You know, except how she keeps me up at night telling me what I need to do while I'm in London," I said. "I don't think her definition of 'exciting' is the same as mine."
We arrived at Justice and I walked inside to find Carmen talking to the other four of the seventh grade Fab Five.
"Can they come shopping with us? Please?" Carmen asked, batting her eyelashes.
"That worked with Dad, not me. No," I said, taking her arm and dragging her out of the store.
"Bye guys!" she shouted, knowing not to argue with me. "So where are we going now?"
I looked at Nikki.
"Forever 21!" she said excitedly, jumpin up and down. "Then to deLia*s we go!"
