Chapter 1
PAGE'S POV
“Page!” I hear my mum shout from downstairs.
“I’m coming!” I shout back, struggling to get out of bed. So I’m lazy, oh sue me.
Once I manage to get out of bed, I saunter into the bathroom.
I take an extra-long shower, letting the scorching water burn my pale skin.
I don’t realize how much time has passed until my mum shouts for me again.
“I’m coming! I hear you! You can stop calling me, mum!” I scream back, clearly annoyed.
I clutch a towel to my body as I step out of the shower, the rush of cold air causing me to shiver.
“I look like crap.” I chuckle quietly to myself as I stare at my reflection in the mirror.
I change into something cute, yet sophisticated.
“The story of my life, I take her home, I drive all night to keep her warm
and time... is frozen” I sing along to the radio my mum had playing as I begin my retreat down the stairs.
My mum is sitting by herself at the kitchen table, her back to me, scrolling through her black iPhone.
“Morning, mum.” I say before sliding into a seat across from her.
“Well, it’s about time.” She smiles, her eyes meeting mine. “Morning, love.”
“What’s for breakfast?” I ask, my eyes scanning the kitchen.
“It is your house, doll.” She laughs. “I thought that you would be kind enough to treat me to breakfast.”
“Mum” I whine. “I was hoping that you could make some of your famous blueberry pancakes, considering that fact that you are only going to be here for three days.”
“Fine.” She narrows her eyes at me. “But tomorrow, you’re treating me. I am your guest after all.”
“I can live with that.” I laugh, staring into my mother’s blue eyes with amusement.
