The Wrong Woman

34

Maddie was thrilled when I met up with her in front of the office (she hadn’t gone far after barging out) and her eyes positively lit up when I told her I was taking her out to dinner.

We went to her favourite Spanish restaurant and shared a few dishes but I couldn’t help but stay quiet as Maddie rattled on about school and her friends. Things were getting complicated, but all I could do was down glass after glass of sangria and then I moved onto the harder stuff. I was staring into my glass of vodka when I felt Maddie’s hand close over mine.

“Are you okay?” She asked her eyes wide with concern.

“Yeah.” I said flatly.

She continued talking but my mind began to wander, until all I could think about was Maddie and Louis alone together in that classroom and then finally the image of Felicity appeared in my head until I just couldn’t shake it off.

“What are we doing?” I said out loud.

Maddie stopped talking and looked at me silently.

“What are we doing?” I repeated.

She didn’t answer. She simply picked up her fork and began to quietly eat and I downed another glass of vodka as I watched her finish her meal.

Needless to say, I was too drunk to drive home, so Maddie took my keys. When I sleepily opened my eyes, I realised we were making our way up her winding driveway.

“Why are we here?” I slurred.

“I couldn’t take you home in the state you’re in.” Maddie said flatly.

I didn’t think taking the risk of her Dad seeing me drunk off my ass was a better option, but I couldn’t be bothered opening my mouth to speak. She held onto my arm as I reluctantly ambled up to the front door.

We bumped into Felicity almost as soon as we walked in and she gave me a puzzled look, no doubt realising I was off my face. I gave her a crooked grin before glancing over to see Maddie glaring at Felicity. She placed a protective hand over my arm and led me to the living room. I raised my eyebrows but did not say a word. My head was swirling too much to even begin to figure out what was behind Maddie’s sudden mood change. We sat on the couch and watched TV in silence, until I noticed Felicity head to the back patio, a pack of cigarettes in her hand.

“I’m going for a smoke.” I muttered and shot off the couch before Maddie could protest.

Felicity turned to look at me once she heard the sound of the sliding door open and close.

“Are you okay?” She said looking at me concerned.

“I just need a smoke.” I said, gesturing to her cigarettes and she instantly handed me one.

“Have you been drinking?” She asked.

“Yeah.” I said shortly.

We smoked for a couple of minutes in silence, when I noticed Felicity watching me.

“You look stressed.” She told me.

“I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing anymore.” I said. “It’s like everything is getting into the way of what I really want.”

“Harry-" Felicity cut in.

“Don’t you feel the same?” I asked.

“Harry, not here.” She said, her eyes flickering to the house. “Not now…”

“Then when?” I said. “Your boyfriend is using me as a drug runner. His daughter is fucking her teacher and they’re expecting me to do what I’m told.”

Felicity looked at me confused as I took a desperate drag of my cigarette.

“Fuck it.” I said.

“Are you staying over?” Felicity asked.

“Probably.”

“Then meet me in the basement at midnight… make sure she’s asleep before you do.”

I nodded dumbly and Felicity told me to go back into the house. In the state I was in, I would have jumped into the pool if she had asked. Instead I trudged back into the house only to find Campbell and Maddie standing side by side eyeing me suspiciously.

“Maddie tells me you’re staying the night.” Campbell said. I shrugged my shoulders and nodded. “I guess it goes without saying that you’re staying in the spare room.”

Your sixteen year old daughter is probably screwing her twenty five year old teacher and you’re worried about me? I felt like yelling at him, but instead I nodded again. The sound of footsteps sounded and I looked over to see an older man emerge from the bathroom.

“Harry, let me introduce you.” Campbell said. “This is Officer Callum.”

I dumbly looked up at the policeman and then down at his outstretched hand before we briefly shook hands. He was not in uniform, but authority emanated from him. He was in his sixties with salt and pepper hair, a thick moustache and beady eyes. These eyes were now watching me closely. He looked me up and down before glancing at Maddie. I could tell what he was wondering what a nice, innocent girl was doing with a guy like me.

“The Officer and I have been friends for years.” Campbell said with an edge to his voice that I could not decipher.

“That’s nice.” I mumbled. Did this guy have any clue about Campbell’s drug racket? The Officer’s eyes seemed to bore into mine as I stood there awkwardly, shifting from one foot to the other.

“Are you okay?” The Officer asked.

“Harry just had a couple of drinks over dinner. The problem is he’s on antibiotics.” Maddie spoke up. “He didn’t know you’re not meant to mix antibiotics and alcohol… so I told him there was no way he was driving home.”

The excuse she gave sounded stupid, but she did it so smoothly that she could have told us the world was flat and we would have all agreed with her.

“Smart thinking.” The Officer nodded without a hint of a smile.

I smiled stupidly in response and felt a wave of relief when Maddie dragged me by the hand.

“Let’s go upstairs. I’ll show you that Math problem I was telling you about.”

Math problem? This choice of excuse pissed me off, as the image of Louis flashed in my mind, but I followed her up the stairs. Once we entered her room I shook her hand off me.

“Math problem?” I spat out. “I thought you had Mr. Tomlinson to help you figure out that shit.”

“Harry.” Maddie said helplessly. “Don’t be like that.”

“I never know what to expect from you Maddie.” I said.

“What are you talking about?” She shot back.

“I didn’t know I couldn’t mix alcohol with antibiotics?”

“I had to say something.” She said. “You looked like you were going to faint. Why was he making you so nervous?”

“Have you known this guy for long?” I ignored her to ask. She flopped onto her bed and scrolled through her phone.

“Since I was a baby.” She replied.

We hung out in her room for a while and when she went to the bathroom I quickly went through her phone. There were more messages from Louis and I couldn’t help but frown as I quickly scrolled through them.

Louis: Tuition time tomorrow :) ;)

Maddie: Yep :)

Louis: Are you learning?

Maddie: Yep :)… lots.

Louis: You sure are ;) Even I’m impressed.

Another conversation from a couple of days ago, went like this:

Louis: You should drop him.

Maddie: Now why would I do that?

Louis: Because he’s no good for you. He’s dodgy as fuck, or haven’t you figured that out yet?

Maddie: Harry wouldn’t do anything to hurt me.

I didn’t have time to read his response, but I was burning to know what ideas he had been putting into her head.

“I forgot to tell you.” Maddie said she walked back into the room. “We’re having a party.”

“Another one?” I asked.

“Yeah… on Saturday. Are you free?”

“I guess so.”

By 11.00pm I was almost asleep and so Maddie dutifully showed me to the spare room.

“I don’t want to risk it.” She said to me, as if I would have agreed to sleeping in her bed with her Dad lurking around. I lay down and went through the events of the night. The way that Officer Callum had looked at me, it was as if he could see right through me. My thoughts then drifted to Felicity. I had not seen her again that night, but as I checked the time, I was excited about meeting up with her. Only forty five minutes to go. Just the thought of it made me hard. I thought about her red lips and her long legs and the way that they both wrapped around me. The minutes dragged on and I was aching to see her. By the time midnight hit I was quickly making my way downstairs. I checked on Maddie first and she was fast asleep. I knew I could rely on Felicity to make sure Campbell was also sleeping, so I didn’t worry about him. I descended the steps to find Felicity bent over to retrieve a wine bottle from the fridge. I remembered how Maddie once told me that Felicity liked to raid the wine fridge in the basement and I couldn’t help but smile to myself. She didn’t have a chance to pour the wine, as I grabbed her from behind, gently placing my hands around her.

“Harry.” She breathed. “You scared me.”

“Sorry.” I said before tightening my grip. “So… why did you call me down here again?”

I made her turn to face me as I backed her against the wall. She opened her mouth to reply, but my lips muffled her response. She sighed softly as we kissed, my hands roaming over her body, unable to get enough of her.

“Harry.” She finally said, pushing me away.

“What?” I mumbled.

“We need to talk.”

“About what?” I said, my hand reaching under her silky top to gently squeeze her breast.

“You.” She answered with a final push. “I’m worried about you. You haven’t been yourself lately.”

“What do you want me to say?” I said.

“Tell me how you feel.” She said her eyes wide with concern.

“Felicity, you know how I feel. I’m just pissed off about… well about everything. I want to quit my job but I can’t because I need the money…. I want to quit Maddie because I don’t trust her for shit but I can’t because she’s my boss’ daughter. I want to have you but…. well you already know why.”

She lowered her eyes as I placed my hands on her shoulders.

“What about you?” I asked. “How do you feel?”

“Harry it doesn’t matter how I feel. We need to be careful. Do you understand?” She asked.

“You think we’re being careful now?” I laughed with no humour.

“No… but I couldn’t help myself. Knowing you’re here… but we can’t be together.” Felicity opened her mouth to continue, but then stopped.

“Well then do you want to make me feel better?” I asked and she nodded sadly. “I wanna make you feel better too.”

My hands caressed her silky pyjama bottoms before I pushed them down. She watched and waited wordlessly as I slowly pulled down the straps of her silky top to reveal her firm breasts. I felt her hold her breath with anticipation as my lips trailed down her neck, my tongue swirling around her hard nipple. It did not take long for me to lead her to the nearest counter and I took her by surprise when I spun her around. She leant onto the counter and I took her from behind, sinking into her so deep that I could not help but breathe out a moan of satisfaction.

Twenty minutes later I was back in bed wide awake. An hour passed and I was still tossing and turning, when I heard my door click open. I squinted in the dark and reached for the lamp next to me, wondering why Felicity was here and about to call her name, when the person spoke.

“Harry? Are you awake?”

I switched on the lamp to see Maddie standing at the foot of my bed, dressed in her pale pink pyjamas, her long hair swept up into a ponytail.

“Maddie what are you doing here?” I asked.

She crawled onto top of me and it did not take a genius to figure out what she had on her mind.

“Don’t you think it’s time?” She whispered in my ear.

“Huh?” I said as her lips travelled over my face and onto my mouth, kissing me deeply.

“Everyone’s asleep.” She murmured. “Nobody will ever know.”

“Maddie-"

“What? This is what you’ve always wanted, isn’t it?” She asked. “I really want to do this Harry… I want to show you…”

“Show me what?” I said. She paused for a moment, before I felt her hand close over my cock. She slowly began to rub it, before reaching into my boxers to take the entire length into her hand.

“I can show you lots of things.” She whispered.

I love what you have been showing me lately.

The words from the letter she wrote to Louis echoed in my head as she began to stroke me. She had done it once before and I remembered how shy and hesitant she had been, always asking if she was doing it right. In the glow of the lamp light I could see her lips curl into a knowing smile as she confidently pumped my cock, no longer looking to me for validation.

“Where did you learn to do that?” I asked lowly as she bowed her head and began to lower her lips onto my tip. I did not give her an opportunity to answer as I placed my hands on her cheeks and moved her to the side.

“We can’t do this.” I said firmly.

“Why not?” Maddie said looking up at me in confusion.“Isn’t this what boyfriends and girlfriends do?”

“Your Dad is down the fucking hall.” I hissed.

“He’s asleep.” She hissed back.

“No Maddie.” I shook my head. I had already taken one risk tonight and I was not going to make another one. I was already playing with fire enough as it was.

“Go back to your room.” I told her.

Maddie stood up and straightened her pyjamas and hair, the disappointment evident on her face.

“Is it Louis?” I asked quietly. “Is he the one showing you things?”

“Louis is the only person who understands me.” She said defiantly before walking out of the room.

I silently fumed. It was this kind of shit that made me want to make Louis pay for all of this.
