The Wrong Woman

1

She has been watching me since the beginning of my set. Her eyes have not wavered for even a moment, and I find myself looking back. It’s not the first time it’s happened… and it probably won’t be the last. I guess you could say it comes with the job.

I’d been hassling my friend for a job for ages. He owned a small bar in the right side of town, and I had tried to convince him that what the bar needed was a bit of live music. He had ummed and ahhed about it for weeks until he agreed to let me sing. Sure, I was in a corner on the far side of the room, well away from the bustling bar, but I had still managed to attract a little core group of people who would turn up on Friday nights to hear me sing.

I strummed my guitar before glancing up again. Her eyes were now burning a hole in me, and I found myself staring back and not even trying to hide it. The whole room could be burning down around me and I probably wouldn’t even have noticed.

She was gorgeous. Wavy honey blonde hair that tumbled past her shoulders, shapely legs
that she now primly crossed, fire red lips that were begging to be kissed.

I briefly thought of Madeline my girlfriend of three months. Eighteen years old and still in high school… the youngest girl I had ever dated. She was beautiful, long dark hair and pale blue eyes. A sweet and innocent little girl, still a virgin who wasn’t ready to take the next step with me.

“I just need time…” She would say innocently looking at me from under her eyelashes.

It had been hard, but I didn’t want to be one of those asshole boyfriends who forced their girlfriends into sex. It just wasn’t my style. But it was hard… I’d never had to wait this long before, and it was slowly driving me crazy.

It also didn’t help that her father didn’t know we were dating. I was twenty years old, and until a few weeks ago unemployed. Maddie would slip me fifty dollar bills every now and then to help me out, and although it killed for me to accept the cash, I did it anyway. So the only place we would meet up was in my dingy little flat. She would tell me about her house, but the way she went on about it, it sounded more like a mansion. It was obvious her Dad was loaded, but that didn’t really interest me. I never got to see that side of her life, and I couldn’t picture her inviting me back to her house any time soon either.

I approached the woman’s table and she turned to look at me with interest.

“Can I get you a drink?” I asked, and I realise how stupid I might sound as she’s sitting there with a full glass of wine in her hand. Up close I can tell she’s older than me. Probably in her thirties, but I can’t figure out which end of the spectrum. Judging from the twitch of her mouth, I can tell she’s trying not to smile at the kid who’s trying to pick her up. She’s older, but I don’t care, she’s fucking stunning.

“I’m fine, thank you.” She said primly, and I find that primness so at odds with the way she looks. Her black dress is short, and I can’t help but let my eyes roam down to her legs which are in full view.

“You’re very good. I’ve been enjoying your performance.”

So posh, she almost sounds like a bloody school teacher. I find myself shifting my feet and smiling nervously.

“Aw shucks.” I said, trying to cover up the nervousness but failing. I’m not usually like this.

Before Madeline there had been many women, it wasn’t exactly my first pick up attempt, but for some reason she was having a strange effect on me. She looks at me expectantly as though she’s waiting for me to surprise her with a funny one liner or knock her over with my charm, but I’m coming up empty. I turn to walk away, my shoulders slightly slumped, only to feel a hand on my shoulder.

“Have you got a light?” She asks gesturing to the cigarette I have tucked behind my ear. A slow smile spreads across my face as we head out into the back alley. Before I know it she has me backed against the wall. Her red lips are full and inviting and I don’t hesitate as my lips hungrily crash into hers. Thoughts of Maddie swirl around my head for a moment but they eventually fade away. It’s been three months since I’ve fucked a girl, and I can hardly think straight.

“Who are you?” She asks breathlessly.

“Harry.” I grind out as my hands rest on her hips and I step even closer, her back now flush against the brick wall behind her.

“Felicity.” She replied without me asking.

The sound of the door crashing near us prompted me to back off.

“Wait for me?” I murmured. “I knock off in an hour.”

She nodded breathlessly, straightening her skirt as my hands let her go. I glanced around nervously before I led her back inside. I didn’t know how I was going to finish my set in the state I was in, but the thought of seeing her naked and beneath me in over an hour gave me the strength to pick up my guitar. I looked out to see her sitting in her seat, her lipstick smudged and her eyes locked with mine, a knowing smile playing on her lips.

Yay! I'm glad you found it :) It's also posted on the other fanfic site, but that's been down for ages.

Omg I've been looking everywhere for this story and I finally found it again and I'm so happy

@Court529

I was hoping the ending would be a little surprise... I kind of played around with the idea of doing a second story (follow up on Maddie & Louis' relationship) Maybe... we'll see :)
