Breaking Point

Chapter one

Louis POV:
I carefully lifted the last box out of the now empty moving truck. Mother had definitely chosen the perfect time to move. It was warm, sunny, and 78 degrees. The best kind of weather!
Of course we did not just randomly decide to move overnight. In fact it took us about a total of four months. We first had to make sure that this was what we really wanted to do. To move away and leave everything that had ever happened here in this town in the past. I didn’t really have a say in any of this, but my mother said moving here would be a better opportunity for us because she was getting a promotion. This promotion she was getting was apparently huge and required her to be transferred to another area which is how we ended up here.
Then we had to go through the ordeal of driving over here and going through the long process of finding the perfect house that would work just right for us. In the end this place is what my mother had chosen and I was far from complaining. This was the nicest place we had ever lived in!
Finally we had to sell the house which actually didn’t take too long. Only about a month give or take a few days. The worst part in all of this is packing everything up into boxes, loading it up inside a huge moving truck, and then having to take it out and unpack all of it all over again. This will probably take weeks knowing I will not be getting any help unpacking any of my things. On top of that I will surely be forced to help my mom unpack loads of crap that goes in the kitchen, living room, and dining room.
In the four months it took us to complete all of this not including all the unpacking were actually my last four months of school as a Junior believe it or not. However it surprisingly did not feel like four excruciatingly long months, but only a few weeks that seemed to fly by. It seemed as if it was only yesterday that I was beginning my first year of high school as a Freshman, or as my mother would say with tears in her eyes that it only seemed like I was born yesterday. I was now a Senior!
Today was actually the first day of summer. No not June 21st the official first day of summer. The first day of summer as in yesterday was the last day of school. Seniors were lucky though! Their last day was a week ago on Friday also known as Senior prank day. Let me just say that I had been squirted with a water gun in my lower region making it look as if I had wet my pants. It was my least favorite day of the school year!
This upcoming year should definitely be different though because I am, or will soon be attending a new school, with new students, and as a Senior. Sure I would miss my friends back home, but this opened up an opportunity to make even more.
This was all taking place in the small town of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, England. This was where we had ended up relocating to. As far as I know from what I’ve seen this is a nice small town where everybody knows everybody. I hope my mom will be able to make some new friends herself not just at work, but with the neighbors surrounding us. I hope I will to.
I am extremely glad we moved when we did because now I have the entire three months of summer we receive to get settled in. Not only to get used to the house, but to also get used to the new town that I now call my home.
I walked up the steps on the front porch and up in through the front door which had been left wide open to make it easier to transfer the boxes and other miscellaneous items into the house. “Mom” I called out. This box had been labeled with a permanent marker on top of some masking tape telling me this box belonged in the living room. Even though I had already been in this house twice before not including today, I still could not remember where everything was.
“In here” she quickly replied back shuffling some items around in the distance. I let out a semi frustrated sigh because how was I supposed to know where here was.
“Where exactly is here and how do I get there? I still do not know my way around the house” I exclaimed. I heard some more shuffling and an empty box being thrown to the floor. She let out a sigh and stepped out into the doorway directly down the hall from me. “I’m right here what do you need?” I advanced down the hall closer to where she was standing and spoke up. “I just need to know where the living room is. This is the last box and that is where it is labeled for.”
She pointed to her left. “Right in there just set it down in the corner with all of the other boxes.” I just nodded walking into what I now knew as the living room. I then sat the box on top of the pyramid of other boxes in the room.
I turned around to exit and noticed that she had already gone back to whatever she was unpacking before I interrupted her. I called out that I was going upstairs to call it a day not even bothering to go inside whatever room she was in. I was already starting to head upstairs to find my new room with all my boxes inside when I heard her reply with a quick “Okay night. Love you!”
“Love you too” I shouted over the railing. I walked down the long corridor of halls trying to remember which one my mom had showed me as my room. I think it was the third door on the right. I opened the door. Nope I had found the bathroom. It must be the fourth on the right. I slowly opened the door. Yeah, it was my room.
I walked in and collapsed on my bed. It was nice to finally take a break from all the unpacking we had already done today. I took a glance over at the clock. It was already past nine o’clock. Time must have really flown by. I guess I just hadn’t noticed because the nights were getting longer. I decided I might as well just go to bed early because I will certainly have yet another long day of work tomorrow.
I rolled off my bed and opened the box labeled bathroom items. I picked it up and walked out of my room into the bathroom I had just found in the room over. I opened the box after pulling back the tape and pulled out all the items I needed for my nightly routine. That was basically just my toothbrush so I brushed my teeth quickly and walked back into my room. I then stripped down to my boxers chucking my clothes in some random direction onto the floor. I could care less where they ended up. I’ll just pick them up tomorrow before I go to the bakery we passed on the way here.
I climbed in and snuggled into my soft covers pulling them up to my shoulders. I let out a satisfied sigh and slowly drifted off into my own little dream world. I was excited about moving here. We needed a change in our lives, and I could tell this was going to be a good one.
