Subject. (51st Chapter)
Harry's POV:

“Sir, I’m so sorry. (She pats my shoulder kindly, as her worrying voice continues) I didn’t know this subject would annoy you. Is she not well? Did she do anything wrong?” I shake my head, wiping the tears that made me feel my manhood is slashed.“(I sniffle my nose, allowing her to sit beside me for the first time) She’s not walking anymore… (I close my eyes, forcing myself to regain my focus) She hurt me when she lied to me, and she hurt me when I saw her on the wheelchair. (I cover my face with both my hands, shaking my head in slow motion) I don’t know what to think of her anymore. She wanted my father’s money, but it doesn’t look like that at all; not after how I saw her yesterday.” Miss Higgins’s hand that is resting on my shoulder, gives me an attention pat; making me look at her.
“(She sighs) I know you may not like what you’re going to hear, but Sir I would never in my life doubt that Miss Evelyn loved you. (She smiles) Would you like to know, why am I so sure about this?” I only nod, sensing that Mrs. Higgins has a lot of information that is hidden away from my view of reality.
“Back when Mrs. Evelyn was staying with me, actually at the same night that she went to my house; I took the duty to pack her stuff with the rest of the household staff. You and Mr. Desmond where out, so I had to sneak her clothes and belongings in that period of time. (I nod in understanding, as Mrs. Higgins proceeds) I came across her drawer, as I emptied her stuff in a little box. (She pauses) There, I found a brown envelope, which was already opened from before. (She frowns at herself) I had the indecent feeling that I should read it, and well? (She sighs) That I did, and I found out a legal paper of transferring the ownership of your father’s inheritance.”
My eyes begin to blink rapidly, as my eyebrows crunch together. “So, you knew about that? Why haven’t you said anything to me or my father?!” She raises her palm, asking me politely that I allow her to speak; which made me nod even though my rage has began to build up.
“Patience is a virtue, Sir. (I bob my head again, as she goes on) When I went back to my apartment, I told Miss Evelyn that I took the envelope, without mentioning that I read it. She only asked me to bring her a matchbox or a lighter, which I did; and there was the most amazing part. She burned it, right in front of my eyes. (She smiles, remembering the scene) She didn’t seem to go with the legal paper, she didn’t want anything. She, herself, was grinning like she was free; even before she got the divorce. (She sighs) That’s why Sir, I’m telling you that I would never believe that Miss Evelyn is capable of harming anyone. She would rather harm herself, then anyone around her.”
I jolt up from my seat like a stiff board, pointing my index finger at her face in fear: “No! You’re just saying that to make me believe… (My body begins to shake entirely, as my voice turns from thundering to whispery) Please tell me you’re lying… Please?” Mrs. Higgins stands up, trying to hold my shivering body; but I dodge it wildly, as I yell: “TELL ME RIGHT NOW! IS THIS TRUE?!” Mrs. Higgins’s scared expression presents itself on her features, as her head begins to nod. Only then, is when I realize that I deserve to be burned for my mentality and vicious thoughts. It can’t be…

Well, who would have thought of that?! :O For those of you who don't remember this, please go back to Chapter Number 31, to recall all of this (Y). Well I will do some explaining on this right now: Mrs. Higgins knew what that envelope had, but she never said anything to Evelyn. Why? Because she wanted to test Evelyn's reaction, once she knew about the envelope being brought to her hands. If by any chance, Evelyn did not burn the envelope or threw it, Mrs. Higgins would have surely told Harry and Desmond about this. But somehow, Mrs. Higgins wanted to wait and make sure that her positive image of Evelyn is true; which it was and still is. Now, I know you're all wondering whats the huge wrapped gift that Evelyn received, don't worry you'll all find out by tomorrow I promise (Y)
