It's Complicated

"Say you'll go tonight"said a very whining Naomi on the other side of the phone.

She was currently trying to convince me to go some party on the beach that everyone in school as invited to. The problem was I really wasn't in the mood. I just wanted to stay home and wait for Luke to call.

"I don't know... I really want to stay home tonight.."

"Come on Carrie!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeaaassee??? Don't make me go over to your house and drag you out because you know I will!!!"

"Aghh.. Fine!!! Jeesh!! But I'm not getting in the water!!"

"Yay!!! Pick you up at 7 bye!!!" Great. --- It's almost 7 and

Naomi is probably on her way over too late to back out now.

I didn't bother to do anything to my hair I just left it in it's wild waves no matter what I do to it, I can never tame it. I changed into some denim shorts and a plain white v-neck with my favorite pink hollister jacket. I put on my sandals and grabbed my sunglasses.

I checked my phones for any missed calls from Luke.

None.

I heard a car honk.

"Mom Naomi's here I'll be home later!!" I yelled running out the door.

"Hey boo" she greeted me.

"Hey" "Lets hit the beach"
I just hope tonight is worth not staying home.

There was music blasting, people dancing, swimming, and hanging around bonfires.

There were so many people here. I saw some familiar faces from school. There was one face in particular that I wanted to see. Harry.

"Look I'm sorry your going through a tough time with the whole long distance relationship thing with Luke but you need to still live a little and I'm sure he wouldn't want you to stay home and let the world past you by"

"Your probably right"

"I AM right, now lets have some fun tonight"

"Ok" I smile. From the corner of my eye I saw Liam and Zayn chatting it up with some girls. That must mean Harry should be here too. I looked around and sure enough he's walking down from the parking lot.....joined with a friend.... a Lady friend

"Earth to Carrie!!" Nao calls back. "What?" "What are you looking at?" She asks trying to figure who I was looking at.

"Nothing and your totally right I should have fun tonight"I stear her away from where Harry.

"Ok well I'm going to go find Kim and get us some drinks be right back"

As soon as she left I walked further down the shore to find signal to call Luke.

Nothing. Not even one bar. Damn it.

I just really want to hear his voice right now.

"What are you doing all the way over here?" I turned around to find Niall. He had a tank top on and some swim trunks with a baseball cap on backwards.

"Trying to get signal" I said pointed at my useless phone.

"I can lend you my phone if you'd like?"

"No it's ok" "You sure?"

"Yes, don't take this the wrong way but why are you here?"

"I...uh.. I kind of.... saw you walking by yourself and got curious... I wanted to walk with you... Is that ok?"

"Um... Yea, Listen about the other night, I'm sorry I was drunk and I didn't what was going on and-"

"You don't have to apologize, for anything I should be the one apologizing I shouldn't have been dancing that way with you"

"Lets just call it even?"I say sticking my hand out.

"Even" he says shaking it.

"I understand that you have a boyfriend and I hope I didn't ruin anything-"

"No we're good but he's not here anymore, he moved to New York for a training event for the NFL, something like that"

"Do you guys talk a lot?"

"He calls every once in a while when he has a chance, he called the day after the 'inncident' and I didn't tell him about it and I don't plan to"

"Was he the one you wanted to call"

"Yea" I say kind of bummed.

"The offer still stands"

"No it's ok, I'll wait until he calls"

"Do you miss him?"

"A lot"

"Has he come to visit you?"

"Not yet, he said when he had the chance he would"

"And he left just like that to New York?"

"Yea I was the one who pushed him to go, he's been talking about being in the NFL since we were kids and I didn't want to hold him back from pursuing his dream"

"If I was in his shoes I would've taken you with me"

"Yea... But... My life is here and if I were to go there, he would be busy all the time and the whole point of going with him is to be with him"

"True but you'd be a lot closer to him"

"True but I'd rather stay here there are somethings here that are holding me here "

"Like what?"

"Family, Friends..."

"I'm just waiting until graduation to think about what to do with my life"

"Well whatever it is dont forget I will always have my door open for you if you ever need anything whether its support, advice, or anything else just know that I'm here for you "

I like Niall unlike the rest of the guys he's really caring and understanding.

"Thanks"

"Race you to the end of the shore"

"Eat my dust Horan"I say getting a head start.

"Cheater you started early" he said catching up with me.

One minute I see him next to me the next he's on the floor wincing in pain.

"OMG Niall!! What happened? Are you ok?" I said holding back a laugh.

"Oh yea I'm fine I just decided to trip and let you win" he said sarcastically trying to play it off.

I helped him up and I couldn't help it I had to laugh.

"Dont laugh, it's not funny"

"Yes it is" I say in between laughs.

"No it's not, stop laughing or I will drop you in the water"

I couldn't stop laughing.

He carried me over his shoulder and started running towards the water.

"NO NIALL!!! PUT ME DOWN!!!! IM SORRY!!! NO PLEASE!! I DONT HAVE EXTRA CLOTHES PLEASE DON-"

A big wave came clashing down on us. Lucky for me I know how to swim.

"AHHHH!!! NIALL!!!! "

"AHHHHH!!!! CARRIE!!!"

I splashed water in his face and sank his head under water. He got me off guard and grabbed me by the waist and pulled me down.

"You son of a-" Was all I could say before he dragged me down.

When we came up for air we looked at each other and started laughing.

"I'm cold" I said with my teeth chattering.

"I brought extra clothes you can wear them"

"What about you?"

"I think I have an extra pair of shorts in my car"

We got out of the water and started to walk back to the party.

I changed into Nialls extra shirt, shorts and hoodie.

"Carrie where have you been and what are you wearing?" Kim and Naomi said with confused faces.

"I fell in the water and Niall-"

"HORAN??!" They said in sync.

"Yea, he lend me his extra clothes"

"You lucky bitch"

"Damn, Lucky ass"

"Hey ladies" said a very shirtless Niall.

"Hey" we all said in sync.

"Do you mind if I borrow Carrie for a while?"

"Sure"

"Not at all"

"Do you want to dance?"

He whispered in my ear.

"Sure"

I swayed my hips side to side to the beat of the music. I saw in the corner of my eye Harry and his lady friend seated on his lap. She was busy talking to some girls and Harry had his focus on me. For some reason it bothered me. Why should it bother me?I don't care.

I swayed closer to Niall and moved against him. He took it as an invite and grinded against me. Friends dance like this right. We continued until the song ended.

I went to get a drink from a cooler and when I turned around Harry and the girl were gone.

"Um... Niall I'm not feeling good"

"What's wrong?"

"My stomach hurts can you take me home?"

I really just want to go home.

"Yea let me get my car"

"Thanks for the ride, you know I was thinking of not coming tonight but I'm glad I did , you made it better"

I lent over to his seat and kissed his cheek.

"I hope we can have another day like this" he said with a cheeky smile.

"I hope so too" I smiled back.

I got out of the car and waved bye as he pulled out of the pavement. I looked over to Harry's house to find that Harry's car wasnt there. He's probably still out with her.

Tonight was fun. I lay in bed thinking back to what happened today with Niall. I laughed at the thought of him tripping and when we laughed in the water. This could be the start of a new friendship.
