The Photograph

Chapter 26

I fell asleep quickly and with Harry next to me things felt more natural. I woke up hours later which really felt like minutes, to the smell of many different breakfast foods filling the air and Darcy’s little bed empty. I stumbled out of Harry’s bedroom to find him in the kitchen cooking it up and Darcy on the kitchen floor banging her toys against each other. Both of them looking rather happy and smiley for being this early.
“Good morning.” Harry smiled when he noticed my presence.
“Good morning.. How long have you two been awake?” I asked, a soft smile in return to his.
“Just an hour or two.” He shrugged and continued to focus on the eggs and sausage he had cooking on the stove.
“You could’ve woke me up.” I stated.
“You looked tired, I thought I’d let you sleep. I fed Darcy by the way, she ate like 45 minutes ago. I changed her diaper but I thought I would leave it up to you to pick what she wears. I know you packed a bunch of different stuff.” Harry replied.
“Morning baby girl.” I smiled and knelt down to Darcy, kissing her head softly before standing up again.
“Hopefully Chelsea is out… So there isn’t much awkwardness.” I climbed up and sat on the counter while eating a piece of bacon.
“Do you think she’ll be out?” Harry asked.
“I don’t know, I hope so. I would’ve loved for her to live with me, that’s the whole reason we were here. So I wouldn’t be living with Darcy alone but her constant coming in the flat in the middle of the night and waking up Darcy was annoying. Plus, she was always out drinking with her friends and everything. Just, I have a daughter now I can’t have that around her.” I explained and sighed deeply afterwards.
“I understand where you’re coming from… I think I’ll have to make some altercations too about who I hang around. I have a daughter now too.” Harry smiled down at Darcy.
“I love how the little bit of hair she has, is brown and curly. Just like yours.” I smiled.
“She has you’re eyes, and I love them.” Harry commented.
I smiled and looked around the kitchen. Wow, did it really feel like everything was perfect. The three of us there, all of us happy and it was amazing. If it would stay this way forever, I wouldn’t have a single problem. Harry and I ate breakfast together and chatted while doing so. Afterwards, I changed Darcy into a new outfit and began packing to head back to the flat. Harry insisted on taking us there so he held Darcy half the way there while I held the diaper bag and my purse. Finally, when we reached the flat everything of Chelsea’s was completely gone. Nothing left in the flat that belonged to her, her bedroom was empty.
“You know what else we should’ve invested in last night on Babies R Us?” Harry asked.
I looked at him and raised an eyebrow, awaiting his answer.
“Carseat… So I can put it in my car and we don’t have to walk everywhere with her. Walking is good, it’s good she’s outside so much but when the weather is bad like it was last night. I’d hate to have to walk outside with her for awhile out in the rain.” Harry said.
“I need a car too.. Once I get one, I’ll buy one. You can buy one for your car!” I exclaimed.
“I’ll wait until our next baby date to deal with that. I’ll need your approval on it.” He joked.
“You should head back and clean up. I believe you have a date tonight.” I smirked.
Honestly, I didn’t want Harry to leave. If he could’ve stayed at the flat with Darcy and I things would’ve been swell. I know for a fact though that he’s meeting with Erika tonight or at least some part of the day. Whenever I thought about it, a tint of jealousy stung into me.
“Eh, she’ll be okay. She can wait a few more hours. Maybe I’ll have a quick dinner with her. Nothing is better than spending time with my girls.” Harry smiled proudly before he realized he said girls instead of girl. Implying that I was the other girl besides Darcy.
I couldn’t help but smile at his words, hoping he wouldn’t notice but he did and he smiled at me. It was mid-afternoon. Almost time for Darcy’s nap, using Harry while he was there I had him stay a little bit longer so I could shower really fast. I changed into Yoga Pants and a tank top after my shower, left my hair in wet, loose curls and with no make up on I walked out of my room. I found Harry in Darcy’s room, rocking her in her chair and him staring out the window. I pushed her door open a little and leaned against the frame.
“Comfy?” I smiled softly.
“This is a nice view. I could see why you put the chair here.” Harry looked at me.
“Do you want to lay her down for a nap?” I changed the subject.
“I just lay her in there?” He asked.
“Yup… Kiss her goodnight or whatever it is you want to do then lay her in there and shut her door on the way out.” I instructed before walking away.
I walked down the hall and across the living room to the balcony doors, I opened the doors and felt the warm air welcome my skin. I stepped out on the balcony and sat in one of the tanning chairs. Weather last night might’ve been awful but it was definitely making up for it today. I was joined by Harry’s presence a few minutes later.
“Leaving?” I asked.
“Yeah, I guess I should get back and clean up so I can meet up with Erika tonight.” He sighed, almost sounding as if he didn’t want to leave or see her tonight.
“You’re welcome to come back afterwards if you want, you know we’ll be here.” I smiled at him softly.
“I will, I’ll call you before alright?” He asked.
“Yup! Have a fun time tonight, don’t get anyone pregnant.” I joked.
“Ha. Ha. Very funny.” He smiled.
“Bye.” I laughed as he left.

3rd Person P.O.V.
Harry sat in the restaurant waiting for over an hour now, becoming quite annoyed with sitting there looking like an idiot and checking his phone every 5 minutes he was almost ready to leave. Until a brunette with dark curls walked up to the table, dressed in a short, black skirt that was right below her butt and a green button up shirt that was tucked into the skirt. Jewelry finishing off the outfit perfectly.
“Hello.” She smiled and sat across from him.
“Are you kidding? Erika, I’ve been waiting for over an hour.” Harry snapped.
“Oh it has not been that long.” She rolled her eyes.
“I made reservations for 7, it’s almost 8:30.” He hissed.
“Whatever.” She blurted, “Now what is it you wanted to talk about?”
“This isn’t working for me… Whatever this is we have. Meaningless sex, all of it doesn’t matter. I have someone that I care about, and I now have a daughter. Who I am willing to do anything for, that includes excluding everyone from my life who doesn’t belong.” Harry explained, harshly.
“Who is this someone else?” Erika asked.
“No one that you need to worry about. It’s no one you know, but she is the mother of my daughter and she means the world to me.” He continued.
“How come you haven’t told me this before?” Erika questioned.
“I didn’t realize it until I woke up this morning.” He bit his lip, realizing that is when he noticed how much he cared for Emma.
“Are you sure you want to end this? What we had was so fun!” Erika pouted.
“Positive. I have a daughter now, I need to make better life choices.” He argued.
Erika scoffed as though she was offended. She stood up, dramatically pushing the chair back far behind her as she did. Walked two steps, smacked Harry across the face and left the restaurant to be what seemed like tears. Except Erika was all for the drama and acting, Harry knew it was nothing but a big scene to make him look awful.
As Harry left the restaurant, he felt a sense of relief. Finally he didn’t have to deal with the drama of Erika and handling a different life, which involved Emma and Darcy. He felt like things were really looking up for him in life. Sure he might’ve found out a few days ago that the girl he had a fling with, gave birth to their daughter. It was time to change, some might think it’s for the worst but he knew it was for the best. Harry was determined to be the best Dad he could be. While on his mission to do that, he realized what his second mission was. That was to make everything between him and Emma perfect again. Now, nothing can tear them apart, as Darcy is their bond together for at least the next 18 years. He made a promise to himself that he’s taking advantage of that time, and he’ll use it to get her back. No matter what it takes.
