It Started With A Phone Call

Alice's POV

I woke up in a hospital room and notice I have a cast on my right arm. Then I see my Aunt Lori.

"Hey sweetie, how are you feeling." she asks in a calming tone.

"I'm okay I guess. How long have I been here?" I ask

"A week and a half."She says. "Do you remember what happened." She asked looking me straight in the eyes. I nod as I remember exactly what happened.


FLASHBACK

It was around midnight. I would have usually been in my room but i got hungry and went downstairs for a late night snack.My father came home drunk,as usual. When he saw me he started calling me hurtful names,which I was use too. Then I realize he thought I was my mother.

"You fucking slut! I knew you'd be back. Why did you leave me and your daughter alone?! I never wanted her ! I told you to get an abortion but instead you have the kid and stick me with it!" he yells.

"Dad I think you-" he slaps me and pushes me to the ground. I try to get away but he is too strong. He beats me until my vision starts to get blurry. I remember running up the stairs,locking myself in my room and calling the police.

END FLASHBACK

"Why didn't you tell me?" she asks.

"I just..I was scared." I answer honestly, then I broke down in the middle of the hospital room. My aunt just stared at me with an emotionless face.

To be honest, my aunt has hated me ever since I was younger. She has always blamed me for her sister,my mother, leaving.

Since I was still a minor and because she was my closest living relative,my aunt had full custody of me.She was not too happy about it and she sure as hell let me know it.She told me the only reason I was not shipped off to foster care is because she wanted me to help out with bills since i had a part time job.

Luckily, I saved money for as long as i could remember so I could escape from my father when I turned 18(Which will be soon). Only now, I'd be leaving my aunt.

A few days later I was released from the hospital. My father was in jail so we quickly went back to my house and I gathered everything I had in four bags.

I went back to school the next week,with my cast still on.

"Where the hell have you been? And what the fuck happened to your arm?" Mitch yells at me.

"I was in the hospital." I say quietly.

"Well I should have been the one who put you there." he yells.

God how I hate Mitch. He's always drunk or high always abusing me. I try to get away, but that only makes him angrier.He use to bully me all the time in grade school.Then as freshmen, he threatened to hurt me if I wasn't his girlfriend and with everything going on at home I couldn't take anymore hurt so I agreed. He was always with other girls and used me as his punching bag.Everyone at school bullied me and I had no friends. Not even my so called loser boyfriend liked me. wow i'm pathetic.

I went home that night and my aunt wasn't home. I was exactly how i felt....alone. I was lost confused and scared all at the same time. I just wanted to end it all. I went to my room and locked the door. There had to be at least one person who cared about me,right?

I got my phone and tried hard to remember Logan's number. Logan was the only friend I had until he moved. I dial what I thought to be Logan's number and after a few rings he answers.

"I just want to kill myself Logan." I whimper.

"Love,this isn't Logan, but whatever you do do not kill yourself.I can see you really need someone to talk to and i'm here for you." A voice says. I can't help it, I break down and tell this stranger everything.
