Liam's POV
*1 week later*

I laid next to Katie on her small bed as she slept peacefully. I tucked her hair out of her face and watched as she scrunched up her nose and moved her face away from me.

Ever since I made the mistake of hurting her a week ago she hasn't said one word to me, I come in here every night for two reasons really.

One, because it means I can make sure that Louis isn't sneaking in here at night.

And two, because there is a small part of me that is hoping one night she will wake up and say at least one fucking word to me.

I understand that she's scared of me but she doesn't seem to understand that her silence just makes me more pissed off to the point when the other day I was just about ready to give Louis the key to her room and not protect her any more.

That same night I waited in the lounge room for Louis to get home, I was actually going to give him the key but when he showed up drunk off his face and trying to figure out how to take some sluts dress off as they walked into the lounge, I just lost all hope in believing that Louis actually cared about Katie.

*Flashback*

I stared at the flames of the fire like I noticed Katie did every time she was in the lounge room.

I can see why it fascinates her so much, it's quite interesting to watch.

At this point I am trying just about anything to keep me busy and out of Katie's room. That girl is starting to get on my last nerve but she's family and hurting her again won't make this go away any faster.

Louis had been showing me all week so far that he was serious about being with Katie, he held her hand and hugged her but never pushed her into more like I told him not too.
He always stayed in the lounge with her and even though he had to force Katie to do these things back it's the thought that counts right?

Louis got pissed off at me earlier today because I wouldn't let him take Katie up to his room to watch a movie, but the kid barely survives being around him with me in the room without crying so I can't imagine she would want to be alone with him.
He yelled at Katie then me and stormed out of the house causing Katie to cry, Niall tried to comfort her but she didn't have any of that, Lou has convinced her that all the other boys will hurt her if she gets to close to them so she ran into her room and hasn't come out since.

Maybe I should just give Louis the key I mean he is really trying with her and I'm sure Katie would tell me if he did something wrong.

Just as I was about to make up my mind, the front door open fast causing it to smack into the wall behind it.

I could hear muffled voices and giggling but made no effort to move since I didn't want to see which one of the boys brought some desperate skank home.

Ever since Katie got here I told them to stop bringing so many girls home, just to cut back to a small group or the same slut if it was possible and this doesn't sound like any of the girls that have been brought here before.

After a few minutes, Louis walked in with a girl I've never seen before. He was trying very difficultly to take her dress off and failing every time just making her giggle again.

"Louis what the fuck are you doing?" I spat at him and watched as he jumped and finally noticed my presence in the room.

"It's that obvious? I want to fuck this girl on the couch so could you please leave." He slurred his words and walked closer to me, I could smell the strong top shelf liquor on his breathe.

"Have you forgotten about something?" I scoffed and took a few steps away from him because he absolutely stunk of sex and alcohol.

"No, well kind of, I can't get her dress off. If you help me I will share her with you." A wicked grin came across his features but I frowned and pushed his chest so he stumbled back.

"Katie is asleep! If you really want to ruin any chance you have with her then at least do that in your room!"

His face changed to shock when he heard Katie's name, almost like he had forgotten about her all together.

The girl that was trying so hard to cling herself to Louis was forgotten as he turned his gaze to the door at the other end of the large lounge room.

"If you just gave me Katie properly then I wouldn't need to find myself such slutty girls." He mumbled as he walked closer to Katie's door and ripped his arm away from the other girl.

"Hey!" Her voice squeaked making me cringe as she crossed her arms and pouted like a snobby teenager.

"Just leave. I want Katie." Louis snapped at the un-named girl making her eyes widen.

"Then why the hell did you bring me here Louis?!"

"Because you reminded me of Katie! If I couldn't have her then I want someone that looked like her but you just aren't the same! So leave. Now." Louis pushed her back towards the front door, both of them disappearing from my view.

Screams were heard as the girl obviously didn't do as Louis asked and was now paying the price.

I took this chance to unlock Katie's door and close it behind me as I walked over to her bed. She groaned and shifted around as the painful sounding screams interrupted her sleep. As long as she didn't wake up and realize what was happening then it's okay, I want her innocent nature to stay as long as possible.

I pulled her close to me once I was laying down with her and hushed her.

Her small frame started to calm down again and it was this moment right now that I knew I couldn't trust Louis yet.

*End of Flashback*

I brushed her hair again and she mumbled while pushing my hands away from her.

Her eyes fluttered open and she met mine, I expected her to get angry at me or yell something at me but she didn't even move.

She just laid there looking at me.

"Are you mad I'm in here?" I asked while continuing to look into her eyes.

"Yes." She mumbled and I felt a small part of me spark up with just that one word.

"At least I'm not Louis, right?" I slightly smiled to her and she nodded back to me.

It went silent and I knew it would take me longer to get more then one word out of her.

"Come here sunshine." I pulled her closer to me and she didn't fight me as she placed her head carefully on my chest.

"Go back to sleep. I'll keep you safe."

Her eyes fluttered closed again and I closed my own taking a moment to be proud of myself even if it was just one word, it still counts as something.
