Katie's POV

My eyes were wide as I stared at the older version of Liam in front of me.

Liam said he passed away.

I feel like I'm standing in front of a ghost right now.

"Well?" The man snapped as both Liam and I stood there frozen and with no idea what to do.

When we still didn't say anything he took a step forward and Liam instantly pushed me behind his back, I clung to his shirt with both hands not knowing what else to do.

"That's not very nice Liam. I'm only trying to wish my child a merry Christmas, so move out of my way because I disowned you years ago."

After those words were heard, Liam growled and reached behind him to take one of my hands in his as a way of making sure I was still there.

"She's not your child." Liam spat as he gripped onto my wrist tighter.

Geoff, as Liam had called him, bitterly laughed and must of stepped closer to us as Liam back us both further away.

"Right because technically she's your child since you adopted her. Isn't that a little weird knowing she's both your sister and daughter, I'm sure it would be easier on everyone in that overly packed house of yours if you just gave me my daughter back and forget you ever had her."

Liam didn't like what the man had said and in a matter of seconds, he had let go of me and pulled out a knife from his waist belt making me gasp in fright.

I hated seeing Liam like this.

It was just a constant reminder that deep down he was a bad person.

I felt like I needed to move away from him but my hand wouldn't let go of his shirt.

"Really Liam? You bring your little sister to my side of town and the only weapon you have on you is a blade? Stupid move."

Just as I choose to peak around the side of Liam's back, the man pulled out a gun and I gasped again while trying my hardest to cling to Liam.

"Move out of my way and let me met my daughter properly or this won't end well." He growled and for once Liam was smart enough to slowly move away from me but I tried to instantly cling to him again but he kept pushing my hands away from him.

"Sunshine calm down, I'm still here." He whispered as he gently jerked me in the direction of my so called father.

Geoff kept his gun aiming at Liam who was standing to the side but kept his eyes on me.

"You're a very small little girl aren't you baby?" He asked and I cringed as he took a small step closer to me.

When I didn't say anything he glared and pulled the hammer of his gun so it was loaded and still pointing at Liam.

My eyes widened and my bottom lip quivered.

"Come here." Geoff snapped and my head whipped to look at Liam, he nodded softly and I whimpered before taking a few steps forward.

He placed his hand that wasn't holding his gun on my cheek and I whimpered.

"How old is my little baby girl?" He asked with his eyes boring into mine.

"I-I turn seventeen in two days."

I was shaking like a leaf as he kept his hand on my cheek and rubbed his thumb over my bottom lip.

"You're so pretty. You look just like your mother did." His eyes darkened and mine widened as he removed his hand from my face and snaked it around my waist.

I stared panicked at Liam and he growled at Geoff.

"Geoff cut the crap. That's your fucking biological daughter!" He spoke and Geoff didn't let me go but rather raised his gun higher so it was pointing at Liam's head.

"Shut up!" He snapped before turning back to me.

I grew even more scared when he leaned down and placed his cracked lips onto my cheek.

"I have a Christmas present for you." He whispered against my cheek and I jerked away from him to frown.

He moved away from me slightly and fished out his wallet before pulling a small sliver ring out.

"W-what's that?" I asked as I grew curious and Liam glared at me.

"It's a ring. It's for you baby." He held it out for me and I shakily took it from him as he tried to brush his fingers against mine.

The ring said Payne on it and I couldn't help but put it on my right hand, I could see Liam get angry out of the corner of my eye.

He wasn't happy with me.

"You've met her, you've traumatized her, now leave us alone." Liam spat and Geoff glared for just a second too long as Liam charged at him and some how managed to grab the gun from him without anyone getting hurt.

"Honestly Liam? You're going to shot your own father in front of little scared Katie? That's not nice." He teased and I moved away from both of them as I didn't know what was about to happen.

"Just walk away Geoff. And don't you ever give Katie anything again, she doesn't need you."

He spat and Geoff raised his hands in surrender.

He turned to me and pointed to the spot in front of him and I stumbled my way towards him as I wasn't sure what he would do if I disobeyed him.

"I hope to see you again baby." He whispered before pulling me into him and kissing my forehead.

Something tells me he wasn't looking at me as a daughter.

Liam's POV

I watched in disgust as Geoff let go of my Katie before walking out of the old burnt house.

She was shaking so much as she tried to calm down her breathing but it wasn't working for her.

I felt so horrible for just standing there and letting that happen but Geoff was a crazy ass who I wouldn't put it past him to actually shot me, I couldn't let that happen and leave Katie on her own.

"I'm sorry." She whispered as she looked down at the floor.

Katie knew I was angry and I had to do my best not to take it out on her.

"Why the hell did you let him do that?" I tried to speak calmly but it wasn't really working.

"H-he was scary."

I rolled my eyes before putting the safety on the gun I snatched from Geoff then placing it in my pocket, I opened my arms for her but she just backed away from me.

"I'm not mad at you sunshine." I stated and she just laughed.

"Whatever you say, I just want to go home."

She doesn't usually call our house a home so instead of arguing with her I just nodded and tried to grab her hand so we could walk back to the car, she jerked her hand out of my grip and ran ahead of me making me groan in frustration.

I couldn't start the car, I was too stressed and angry and any other emotion that shows how pissed off I am.

I knew I needed to calm down so I reached over to Katie's side of the car and opened the glove compartment and grabbed the only rolled joint I could find.

Katie didn't try to stop me or talk me out of it like usual so I rolled down my window and did my best to make sure none of the smoke would go near her, I may be a criminal but I'm still not going to smoke with a child in the car. No matter what Katie says she was technically a child.

Rather than sitting on our fathers side of town, I started the car deciding that I wasn't high enough to actually crash so it should be safe enough for me to drive us home.

She didn't say anything so when I stopped at a red light, I took a drag of my joint before turning to her. She sighed before looking at me, her eyes were tear filled and she pouted up at me.

I couldn't take it and went to talk to her about what had happened but forgot I was still holding in the clouds of smoke in my lungs so as soon as I opened my mouth the clouds flew into her face and she gasped.

"Liam!" She coughed as she glared at me.

My eyes widened as I knew that would be all it took to get her high.

Shit Louis won't be happy, but Katie is my responsibility and I will do whatever the hell I please.

But I won't be smoking around her again.

"Shit." I whispered as Katie started to swat her hair out of her face and blink repeatedly.

"My hair smells good." She giggled and wrapped her small hands around my bicep making me laugh too.

When we finally got home, Katie had spent the whole ride talking about completely stupid things from global warming not actually making it warmer to elephants being the ugliest animal.

The girl could talk when she was high.

"C'mon! Lets go inside, I want to open presents!" She chirped happily and we both got out of the car before she ran straight inside and I followed suit.

When we got into the lounge, mostly everyone was sitting in the lounge talking and laughing as they waited for us to get home.

I asked everyone to wait for us so we could all open our gifts together but that little stunt Geoff did meant we took longer then I had planned.

Katie ran from my side and squealed as she fell onto Michael's lap.

Good thing Louis isn't in the room.

"Hey cutie." Michael spoke before Katie placed a kiss right on his lips making everyone's eyes widen. She scrambled off his lap after that and looked around for a few minutes then giggled and sat down on Luke's lap.

"Hi Louis!" She said happily and we all laughed at her.

"Babes I'm not Louis, I'm Luke." She gasped and jumped as she started to yell Louis' name.

"Is that Katie I hear?" Louis happily spoke as he walked into the room.

Katie's eyes lit up as she ran over to him and he picked her up so her legs were wrapped around his waist.

"How was your trip baby?" Louis asked her as he was the only one who knew where we had been today.

Katie just ignored what he had said and wrapped her arms tighter around his neck so she could hide her face in his chest.

"What's up with Katie?" Louis asked as he chuckled and smoothed down her messy hair.

I scratched the back of my neck as everyone in the room, which was the whole house now, turned to look at me as they waited for me to answer Louis' question.

"Uh she may be just the slightest bit high."

Louis' eyes instantly narrowed at me as he placed Katie down on Harry's lap since he was one of the only people who hadn't taken an interest in her so he was trusted.

He opened his mouth like he was about to yell at me when Katie spoke up first.

"Hey! How come spongebob doesn't float in water when other sponges do?"

I breathed a sigh of relief as she had lightened the mood and made everyone laugh.

Louis rolled his eyes at me before shaking his head and turning back to Katie who was now playing with Harry's curls.

"Do you want to open a present baby?" He asked and she immediately nodded.

He handed her a small box while I grabbed a large box from under the tree and gave it to her too. Granted most of the presents under the tree were for her.

She choose to open mine first and found a pair of shoes with a matching handbag.

"H-how did you know?" She stuttered as her eyes widened.

She was looking at the exact same pair of shoes when I first laid eyes on her in New Zealand, she didn't buy them that day as her friend couldn't afford them and she was nice enough not to get them in front of her.

I knew she wouldn't get the chance to buy them as I would be taking her to London before she could so I bought them and they had just arrived a few days ago.

"I'm magic." I shrugged and she jumped up from the floor to hug me.

"Open mine now." Louis spoke and she unwrapped the small box to find a small key on a chain, I could just see that it had Louis' name on it.

"What is it for?" She asked and Louis carefully placed the necklace around her neck.

"To my bedroom, Liam has said it's okay for us to spend more time alone together. Think of it like a key to my heart."

And judging by the look on her face right now, operation get Katie to choose Louis was complete.
