20 Days 'Till Summer
Brave
Zayn’s POV
When I walk back to my house, it gets even more depressing. Back at Alecia’s house, I was looking through one of her old photo albums of her growing up. They’re all so beautiful just like her. She’s the reason I get out of bed every morning and smile. There’s this feeling inside of me that I get every time I see her, a bit of a bubbly feeling inside.
“Zayn, go pack up some things in your room.” My mom says to me. My eyes connected with her matching hazel eyes. There’s a look of seriousness in her eyes, seriousness that I can’t escape.
“Mum, can you help me pack? I don’t want to do anything wrong.” I lie. The only reason I need her help is because I don’t want to do it alone and by myself. I would invite Alecia, but she’s probably tired and freaked out about the news still.
“Invite Alecia over to help. I’m sure she’ll love to.” My mom says, before walking out of our gigantic living room. Our living room is basically packed. There’s boxes everywhere, decorations are down, and pictures of my family and I aren’t up. Hmmm… She did a pretty good job of packing today.
I’m going to be pretty embarrassed if I invite her over and she denies. Do I really want to call her over after what happened with us earlier? Chuckling to myself, I realize I’m not as brave as what I put out. Memories of a couple years ago start pouring into my head.
It was a cold dark day. I was walking home from school with my best friend. She was really pretty and I really liked her. Well, we were walking down the alleys, the ones we were told not to go down. It felt good, being able to do something without caring the consequences.
“Zayn, are you sure you want to do this? Do you remember what happened to other people who walked these alleys?” Alecia asked. I looked into her dark brown eyes, the ones that I loved looking at every morning, day, and night.
“Ale, those were rumours. Remember it was you saying we should walk down these alleys. It was never my suggestion.” I said, laughing. She hit my arm and walked off towards a different direction. I ran after her by instinct, nothing else. She stopped after hearing my footsteps.
“How can you blame that on me? You agreed to it.” Ale said. “I’m going home. Do whatever you want.” She turned on her heel and ran, ran far away from me. It was then that I realized a piece of my heart was ripped out and I had to find some way to get it back.
