Pure Luck
Chapter 7
Niall's P.O.V
I woke up the next morning to the sun shining through the curtains. I rose up of the couch and checked the time, 11.30 pm. As I went to the kitchen to make breakfast, something caught my eye. I picked it up, realising it was a note from Jess. I smiled, "I'll call her later" I thought to myself.
Suddenly my phone was buzzing, "speak of the devil" I muttered. I picked it up, but it wasn't Jess, it was Harry, "Niall, where the hell are you?!" I rubbed my eyes tiredly, "what do you mean?" You could practically hear him rolling his eyes over the phone. "I've called you 8 times, Simon needs us to come to the studio."
That got me up and awake, "sorry Harry, my phone was on silent. Why's Simon here? I thought he was on holiday in Las Angeles." "So did I" Harry said, "but apparently not." I groaned, he probably had to talk business. And business meant hours of really boring talking.
I arrived at the studio in 15 minutes, fans were already crowding around the car. I drove past the gate and into the grounds, as all the screaming teenage girls waited out the front
I came into the studio everyone was looking casual. Harry and Zayn where sitting on chairs, Liam was leaning against a wall and Louis was getting a coffee.
Simon started talking as I stood next to Liam, "Good to see you Niall, now I've pulled you all here to discuss the Grammy Awards. You all know they're coming up and your public image must be in good shape to win. I'd like you lads to keep an eye on how things go with the press. Be careful with what you say, and do."
That then launched a discussion about how we could improve, what we could do to get more publicity and other riveting subject. That was when my phone rang again. I picked it up and started to walk outside, without bothering to look at the caller, "Hello Niall speaking." Jess's voice came across the other end, "Hey Niall, it's Jess."
"Hey" I smiled, "I got your note." She laughed, "found a new hiding spot yet?"
"Unfortunately not"
"Bad luck, um Niall? I was wondering if you and boys, or even Danielle and Eleanor, would want to come down and to the pub tomorrow night. I'm singing again, and Kimi will be there."
I paused with surprise, "well I would, and I'm with others now, wait one second and I'll ask."
I held the phone to my chest and poked my head back inside. "Oi," I spoke loudly, "shall we go to the pub again tomorrow night?" Louis grinned, "is it because Jess will be there?" Liam elbowed him in the ribs, "yeah sure mate, I'm up for it." Everyone else agreed in unison.
I got back on the phone, "they're up for it." "Great!" Jess replied, "so I guess I'll see you tomorrow then." I grinned, "we'll be there."
Jess's P.O.V
I was sitting backstage before the performance. I was used to this, having sang so many times, but I still got nervous and this time, I was very nervous.
As I walked out onto stage, I searched the pub. Right over in the farthest table, I could see Niall, Harry, Liam, Zayn, Louis and two other gorgeous girls that must've been Eleanor and Danielle. I had to admit, Liam and Louis hadn't done to badly.
I stood, centre stage and picked up my guitar. I stroked the strings, changing my fingers to play the chords as I went along. Then I hit the first note, the song I'd chosen was Mountain Sound by Of Monsters And Men.
It was difficult, but it came out alright, in my opinion anyway. Once I finished the audience applauded loudly, I think mostly it was that farthest table, making the loudest noise.
I walked off the stage as Kimi Jane came running up. She was all dressed up, well for Kimi anyway. "Great performance as usual" Kimi poked her tongue out. I grinned, "come on let's go see the others." Kimi was freaking out, she hadn't met all of One Direction yet.
We headed to table as Niall and Zayn pulled up two chairs. Kimi's eyes almost popped out of her head when she saw Liam, Harry and Louis. She sat down but I could tell she was freaking out.
We were both introduced to Danielle and Eleanor. Danielle got up and kissed me on the cheek and Eleanor gave me a hug. I was surprised by how sweet they were. "Jess! Nice to finally meet you" Eleanor said smiling. They were both absolutely gorgeous!
I sat down between Niall and Kimi, who had already made herself comfortable talking to Zayn and Harry. I gave Niall a hug, "hey!" He smiled, "Hey, amazing performance." I turned bright red, "aw thanks."
