Prologue: Can You Figure It Out?

Screams filled a small space before CRASH!, and it was all over. One was free, free to be with the person they loved more than anyone else in the world whilst the other was being placed in their own cage, to be trapped away from the one they loved. It had done before, and it was being done again. This was her plan from the beginning. She was the spider, and he was her prey. If only he knew that he was falling into her web of lies and deceit sooner.

My eyes looked towards the clock nailed to the wall in front of me before landing on the mass under the duvet, that laid on the ground. I made my way from the enterance of the room to the body, nudging it with my foot once I made my way over towrards it.
"Hey, wake up," I said nudging at it again.
Once the body started to stir, I took a step back. The duvet was lifted revealing the girl, that laid underneath it. Her brown eyes filled with fear when they connected with mine, which was an emotion I haven't seen her with in the last few days, or handful of times I had saw her in the past. She knew something was wrong, and as did I. It was a tension that even a blind person could see.
"Where's Venny?" she asked, but I ignored her, dropping the key, that opened the lock on her leg, chaining her to the wall.
"You can leave now." Before she could ask me anymore questions, I left out of the cabin into the cold outside, my hand digging into my pocket for my phone as my sneakers crunched through the snow to my car. I dialed in the number on the glass screen before putting the phone to my ear.
I stood outside of my car, letting the phone ring and ring even though I knew no one would ever answer. It was too late, and I should have known this would happen.
'How could I be so dumb?' That thought ran through my mind as the hand, that didn't have my phone in it, slammed against the hood of my car.
Maybe you can figure it out, and tell me what I missed. Maybe you will see the signs. I wouldn't blame you if you don't. Hell, I lived through those days, and I missed every single one of them until, of course, now.
