Close As Strangers- Part 1
Luke's P.O.V.
*The night before*
I stumbled the streets coming upon a familiar house. I knocked on the door... No response. I went around back and found some pebbles. I aimed for Kat's window and hoped it hit. After quite some time she met me in the back yard.
"What the hell Luke?" she screeched.
"I-- I--"
"You're drunk."
"No........ Maybe a little. Can I come in?"
"I don't think it's a good idea..." she hesitated... I don't blame her. This is the first time I've seen Kat since everything fell apart. I had to see her though. I had been drowning my thoughts of her out with the likes of alcohol. Tonight, there was nothing strong enough, hence why I'm here.
"Kat... Please. I won't try anything, I just want to sit with you." I pleaded, and after a few moments...
"Fine. Let's go. I'm cold."
I followed close behind her. As we walked in the house she flipped a light on and walked for the kitchen.
"Coffee or water?"
"Ick." I replied.
"Seriously Lucas, don't make me choose for you and shove it down your throat." she threatened.
"You're cute when you're angry..."
"Stop." she spoke sternly, turning to give me a glass of water. "Drink." she demanded as she set the water down and went for the fridge. "Sandwich?"
"Please." I smiled.
I watched her every move, admiring her gorgeous curves move to the beat of the music she had playing quietly on the radio. I wished I could go up behind her and grab her waist like old time, right now she'd probably think I'm just a drunk asshole.
"Eat." she commanded, sitting down next to me. "So tell me... Why are you drunk at my doorstep... Or back window I should say."
Oh you know... Just love sick over you...
"Bad night." I replied, hoping she wouldn't ask more.
She nodded and sipped her water.
"When you're finished let's get you to bed.
I nodded. Soon enough I was done with the food and water.
"Let's go." She smiled leading me to the couch.
"Kat..."
"Yeah Luke?"
"This is going to sound really weird, but can I please stay in the bed with you. I'll keep my hands to myself, and won't try anything, I'm just sick of sleeping alone."
Her eyes softened, and I could've almost sworn I has seen a slight smile.
"Sure, Luke."
As I laid down I felt my eyes get heavy, and the nausea was finally setting in.
"Kat..." I whined.
"I already know." she spoke, bringing me a cold wash cloth and running her nails through my hair. "Lay flat on your back, it'll make the nausea stop. And keep the cloth on your forehead, it'll keep a fever from occurring."
"Kat..." she looked over to me, "Thank you... For everything."
"It's no problem, Luke. Get some sleep."
Of course I didn't sleep right away... I had a lot going through my mind and I felt so sick. The bed felt cold. I felt the distance between Kat and I, it may have only been a few inches, but it felt like an entire world away. As the song goes, now I feel we're as close as strangers.
All the nights of calling Kat, hearing her tears telling me she couldn't do this and she needed to move on. I wish we hadn't done this to her... To us.

I woke up to rocks hitting the window and Kat leaving the bed. I got up with a wicked headache shaking my head, walking towards the window... Liam... Great... As if I hadn't lost her already.
