Twisted Wish

Chapter Nine

---

Cassiorius

---

I watched Louis and Bailee sleep with my heighten vision. The frozen window created an active connection between our two realms. I heard their every thought through “magic,” but one of the hidden truths is frequency. Humans can only detect 20,000 Hz to 20 Hz. My kind can hear 40,000 Hz additional compared to the human ear. I hear their words and thoughts by their frequency, wavelengths of their thoughts and dreams. The rest of the explanation, I won’t tell you. If I do, I would have to kill you.

Louis was laying on Bailee’s bed, snoring with drool dripping down Bailee’s body’s chin. Meanwhile, Bailee slept with a phone in her hand. She was back at Harry and Louis’s flat. London time was five hours ahead of the United States eastern hemisphere.

This was the perfect opportunity.

I closed my notebook, which Aunt Bellatrix tried to confiscate. She wasn’t pleased with my immediate action towards the two “victims” as she put it. My aunt accused me of being a young immature adult whom has no right to grant anyone’s wishes. This happened after Orion came into my room, he escorted me into the throne room and she became my guardian for the fifteen miliminutes (fifteen minutes on earth but in our realm, time is slower).

She persecuted me.

“Cassiorius! What is the meaning of this?!”

Her voice was rumbling in my head. She accused me of taking away her rightful rule.

The wish.

Aunt Bellatrix was scouting out a candidate, hoping to find a wish to fulfill. It’s quite hard to hear over each other’s wishes. She discovered over time that she could pinpoint the life form by their actions. Cancelling out the ridiculous wishes as she puts it.

I had granted a preposterous wish. Apparently.

I argued with her, defending myself that I didn’t grant the wish. Instead, the magic I used was repositioning a soul. With my magic, I swapped Bailee’s soul into Louis’s body and then vise versa with Louis. It was basic material.

Yes, I technically granted two people’s wishes. However I did it my own way. Not in the way of the law.

“The law states only one person receives the gift. Not two!” she shrieked, “You must fix this-”

“I can’t undo my work.”

She leaned forward on her throne. Two guards stood on each side of her. In their hands, there was a thin sword almost like the icicles in the Antarctica. I’ve seen a few through the eyes of humans whom live there. Her hair was braided around a clear glittery crown. Her dark violet eyes and her complexion glimmered in the light.

“If you don’t fix this before the planet completes its full cycle,” she finished her sentence, “You’ll be exalted.”

Before I replied, she finished, “To your deepest nightmare.”

Space. I feared floating in space until my life formed died from hunger.

“Better hurry, time is slipping away,” she declared.

I was carried back into my chambers. Quite literally, I’m afraid. My feet were fine, I could’ve walked but my Aunt wanted to humiliated me. She accomplished it. The guards slammed my doors, locking it from the outside. A prisoner in my own kingdom.

Our vessel leaved in three months and never came back until ten centuries later. Louis and Bailee will still be in each other’s bodies. They didn’t hear my riddle.

They need to hear the riddles.

I slouched back into my seat, pushing my notebook aside. Closing my eyes, I dove into Louis and Bailee’s souls. With the snap of my fingers, I transported their wavelengths into a mind. My mind. Here, Bailee and Louis were there. Bailee was standing in a blank white room. There were four corners, barely detectable. She blinked her eyes, looking around the room.

“Where am I?” she questioned herself. My presence was invisible, I could think up anything I want and the event will occur. I made Louis invisible to Bailee, waiting for the observations to occur. I’ve witnessed curiously at the girl. I’ve felt a connection with her and Louis. There were misguided souls. Oblivious on what the source of their dilemma is.

Bailee glanced down at the floor, but not without taking notice of her arms.

“Oh my God.”

She touched her arm and then crawled up to her face. A gentle smile appeared on her lips.

“I’m back in my body!” she exclaimed, “But how?”

Nothing goes past Bailee Nash. I chuckled.

My vibrant eyes glowed causing Louis to appear in Bailee’s eyes. He was lying on the ground, looking at the ceiling. Nothingness, he felt like he was swallowed in oblivion. His lips were unmoved as he laid on his backbone.

“This is a nightmare,” he replied.

“Louis?”

He rubbed his eyelids, before glancing over towards the voice. His face was frozen not believing his eyes.

“Bailee.”

Bailee walked over towards him. She was glancing at him, taking in his expression. Bailee never knew how much personality Louis displaces in his facial expressions. For a moment, the scene looked a heartwarming moment. Both Louis and Bailee finally meet together, not person to person, but soul to soul. Things escalated quickly though.

“Ow! What the hell was that for?”

“For not answering my phone call!”

“You didn’t have to slap me!”

“Of course, I did. You deserved it! Why didn’t you answer?”

“I was a little busy-”

“Busy?” Bailee exasperated, “With what?”

“I’ll tell you what. I was helping your mom bake cookies!” Louis exclaimed, throwing his arms up.

“Cookies?” Bailee questioned, raising her eyebrow.

“She was craving chocolate.”

Bailee became silent not looking at Louis. Her nose was scrunched up, silently thinking to herself.

“Bailee,” Louis broke the torturing silence. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” she replied, “It’s not important. Where are we?”

“Beats me. I thought I was by myself having a nightmare.”

“Almost. Could it be a dream?”

“If that’s possible, why are we in the same dream?” Louis questioned, his arms were acrossed his chest.

This is my time to shine.

My violet eyes glowed once again. The invisibility clocked away. I was standing behind them. My hands were fidgeting under the nerves.

“Hello, Bailee and Louis.”

My voice echoed in the room.

“The voice,” Bailee started.

“It’s a girl,” Louis sounded unsure.

Their eyes observed my body. I could hear their thoughts. Bailee was astounded, even impressed by my life form. Louis was confused, he blinked his eyes to reassure himself. What he was seeing was true. My life form is what humans would call an eight-year-old girl’s body. My hair was stripped of colour, Louis and Bailee would see that I’ve got bleached blonde hair. To my kind, we see the see-through cells. Our hair grows to no end, a slow process.

We’re grateful because if we cut our hair. We feel pain for our cells are alive.

“This is a dream. Isn’t it?”

I nodded my head.

“You did this to us,” Bailee declared.

I could see through her mind that she connected the “dots”.

“Yes.”

“Why?” she hissed.

“I heard your cries,” I answered.

“What cries?” Louis spoke up, breaking his frozen state.

“You’re wishes, of course.”

“I didn’t wish for this,” Bailee shrieked.

Gently smiling at the girl, I replied, “You did.”

“No, I didn’t! I didn’t want to be a superstar!”

Going back to my memories, I opened my mouth and her voice came out. “I just … I just wished I would be loved by them.”

“What the hell?!” Bailee yelled.

“I replayed what you said that night of the shooting stars. I’ve granted your wish.”

“No, you didn’t-”

“And I’ve granted your wish too Louis. Do you want me to remind you as well?” I asked him, ignoring Bailee’s glares.

He didn’t reply to me. I already knew the answer.

“I wish I could relax and not be busy.”

“I’ve given the gift. My kind we’re not allowed to answer two wishes. But this was an exception, I answered both by simply switching your souls.”

“Our souls?!” Louis and Bailee cried out.

“Yes.”

“How do we get back?” Bailee asked, running her hands through her hair.
I didn’t answer her. I was staring blank faced at her, taking in her emotions and thoughts. It was overwhelming. The watery substance was clouding my vision. I was going to cry. My kind can’t cry, but joining their souls. My body was doing what humans can do.

“Pardon.”

Bailee’s face was red with anger and frustration.

“You heard her, how do we get back to our lives?” Louis replied, confidently.

“Magic can’t be undone.”

A hiss escaped Bailee’s lips and a sigh rumbled through Louis’s throat.

“Not by the hands of the wielder,” I said, “You’ve got three months to-”

A hand touched my arm, the touch broke the connection of Louis and Bailee. Their souls wandered back to their destinations, Louis’s in Bailee’s body and Bailee’s in Louis’s body. Anger pounded in my body. My eyes faded as I gripped the hand.

“Ouch, Cassiorius!”

I let his hand loose.

“What do you want Orion? Can’t you see I’m busy?!”

My mind was searching for the souls again.

“I’m sorry, your highness,” he said, “I wanted to check on you.”

“I’m peachy.”

“Cass.”

The nickname stopped my search for my beloved humans. Orion leaned over, placing his hand on my arm. “Please tell me what’s going on, Queen Bellatrix has accused you of treason.”

“She’s correct-”

His thumb rubbed against my arm.

“I know that already Cass. I know you. You wouldn’t do this unless there was something important.”

“Go away, Orion. Time is slim.”

“Why did you switch their souls?”

No one knew of this, only Aunt Bellatrix. Even she doesn’t believe me. Orion must have connected with my mind.

“Come on, Cass. We both know you know the spell to grant a true wish,” he declared.

“I need to focus.”

There was a respectable silence between us. His golden eyes shined with a hint of hopefulness.

“All right, but I won’t let you do this on your own. Whatever plan or reason you’ve got behind this. You’ll need my help.”

The corner of my lips curved up. “Thank you, Orion.”

“My pleasure, your highness.”

I closed my eyes connected with their minds, their souls were weak from the connection. I’ll have to wait another time to meet them in my mind. Orion laid his hand on my hand, draining his energy therefore I would gain. My mind repeated each riddle to Louis and Bailee, hoping and praying they would hear and remember them.

Notes

Hello everyone!

How are you doing?

It's early in the morning, I'm about to fall asleep but I had to finish this chapter. This was one of my favorite chapters to write because I got to show you guys more of Cassiorius. The voice inside Louis and Bailee's mind. She's an interesting character.

What do you think of the chapter? It's shorter than the other ones, but it's longer than I imaged before I started writing it. I'm pretty happy it was longer than I expected.

I really hoped you enjoyed it! Please don't be a silent reader, I would love your feedback. Thank you so much for waiting for me to update. And to vote, subscribe, and read it! I really appreciate it.

Thank you again. :)
