Fanfiction 101

Fanfiction 101

ok class today i would like to teach you something from movies but it Can also be complied to fanfics.
Set up and pay off.
A set up is where you put in a small sentence, prop, anything. In the start of the story or Movie. That is a set up. Then at the end of the Movie/ story/ chapter. You mention it again but in a usefull Way. Like so.

set up:
harry's P.O.V
i Got up and put on some Elvis While getting dressed. I casually sang along to the song playing.

pay off:
after we had sex we cuddled. I kissed the top of her head she smiled and asked me to put on some Music. I obeyed and left her side for a minute. I put on the first and Best record i could find and returned to me.
she smiled and realised her eyebrows.
"really?" She asked.
"what? I can't help falling in love with you is one of my favorite songs." i Said.
she shrugged "i Can dig Elvis"

so you give away a detail and use it later to explain something or anything.
that is all we have time for today class dismissed.

A/N: twist and shout reference.

Okay, knowing that English is your second language makes it a bit better, I promise I won't be quite so harsh on you :).
I do agree with you though, I have read waaaay worse in some other stories (or, rather, I have looked at way worse and immediately stopped reading :P).

Sorry i am terrible at punctuation and english is my second lauguage but i try my Best and for me it is more what it says. And i Think my writing is ok i know there is mistakes but i try and i have read Way Worse. Im not perfect but it try. And i really just wanted to give some advice on what fanfics are lacking story vise. Also if you notice not on the other story nor here have i complained about the gramma of people nor Will i ever do. And it is because i know my Own is not that good. But it try my Best maybe i fail but it is readable...i Think.

If you are going to rant and give other people constructive criticism on their writing, I suggest that you invest in some appropriate capitalisation and better punctuation.
I have no problem with the fact that not everyone on fan fiction websites are professional authors with lots of experience, but if your plan is to give other people advice then it should seem like you know what you're talking about first.

Also, your first line of chapter 1 should read "... it can also be applied to fanfics"
not complied.
