Life As It Was

Four

Louis

"I'm getting it, I'm getting it!" Daisy, one of my numerous sisters, chirped happily running toward the door. I immediately jumped back from my spot, allowing her to pass by. Phoebe chased after her from not far behind, most likely probably happy to see mum and Daniel had come back.

"Daisy, Phoebe, calm down!" I yelled after them, remembering they'd taken Doris and Ernest out for a stroll in the first place. I don't even know how so many kids could be such a hassle only around the holidays.

I rolled my eyes as they pulled the door open, already bombarding mum with questions on if she'd went window shopping for Christmas for them. I grabbed my camera off the couch and pulled it up to my face, starting to record again. "So you guys, Thanksgiving is so.." I trailed off as Daisy ran by me again, filming her the entire time before turning the camera back to me, "so exciting."

"Louis has a crush!" Fizzy and Lottie yelled from behind me. I rolled my eyes, not able to fight the light blush that crept on my cheeks as I immediately stopped recording.

"I do not!" I yelled at the both of them as they took off running from the room, laughing with each other. I rolled my eyes and turned to my mum, who had apparently sent Daniel to set Doris and Ernest down for their nap while she was setting the table.

"So you have a crush, Lou?" She asked after pushing Daisy and Phoebe away with their questions. They started to sulk while whispering to each other, moving into the next room. I sighed and grabbed the plates from my mum, setting them around the table.

I shrugged while looking at my mum. Thanksgiving had come around sooner than I expected it to. But I guess with how busy I was making vlogs and challenge videos I hadn't really been paying attention. Not to mention, yes, I had been talking to Eleanor a lot. And we had went out for coffee three times, I had bought her a rose once and she had let me walk her home, technically that meant come into her pent house for a few moments.

I did want to invite her for a real dinner or something, I just didn't know how. I mean, she was huge and had so much going for her. It's not like she wanted or actually needed a relationship at the moment. Plus, it had only been a month since we met. And a month since she and Nathan had broken up. So obviously now was not the right time for a relationship.

She had postponed her first fashion line again though. Stating she needed more time to clear her mind and check on some last minute changes that might need done. She'd told me once how unhappy her aunt was to hear that, considering she was basically Eleanor's manager and everything. But since it was her first line, she was excited to release it, but also nervous to make sure everything was perfect. So now she was set to debut it in the Madrid fashion week February eighth. Which wasn't too far away.

It seems weird that I know her schedule. I'll just say her aunt said she isn't changing the date anymore so she is nervous about it even more. Which means she talks about it a lot more. Even though I don't really mind..

"I did see that one newspaper that had a picture of yourself and a designer on the cover about two weeks ago, dear," my mum said quietly, thinking hard it seemed.

I sighed. "They took everything out of context. We just went out for coffee. We've only known each other a month. And she met me while I was wearing the most hideous shorts," I commented the last part as quiet as my mom was before, scrunching my nose as I did.

With a chuckle my mum set out the silverware and napkins. "Well, the girls seem to think you're very keen of her." I'll admit this, I am. I do like her. But I don't want to take things too fast or ruin any friendship I could potentially have with her.

I replied with another shrug, to which my mum sighed. "Lou, I really hope you find someone. You're twenty two, my boy. You haven't had a relationship since Hannah and yourself broke up."

"What's your point, mum?" I raised an eyebrow while looking at her.

"You broke up in twenty ten." She sighed and stood up straighter. "I just want you to be happy, Louis."

I walked over to my mum and hugged her tightly, "I will be happy." I whispered quietly and kissed her head before pulling away. She smiled at me kindly before walking back into the kitchen. I sighed. It hurt to make my mum think I wasn't happy with my life. In all honesty, I was. Sure, I wasn't in a relationship. But you don't need a relationship to be a happy person.

Or that's what I'm assuming anyway.

Notes

Not sure if I like this chapter or not. Then again I am dealing with my monthly visitor right now so I've kind of just thrown things in all over the place.

And yes, I took out his and Eleanor Calder's relationship for this fanfiction. Just remember it doesn't have anything to do with his One Direction life besides having the boys in it at points. If you won't respect that, please just stop reading here.
