Something In The Way You Move
Eyelids like a Butterfly
We kissed for what seemed like forever. His soft lips gently pressed against mine. I could feel the electricity pulsing through my body. It wasn't a lustful kiss. It was a simple kiss really. It lasted long enough for us to stop and catch our breath though. It was a kiss of pure passion.
Once we broke apart, Harry looked down at me with a smile on his face.
"You shouldn't think more often." He whispered.
I just chuckled at him. We rested our foreheads against one another's and enjoyed the quiet for a moment.
After a moment of staring at the stars in an embrace, we decided went inside. Harry didn't want to stay to late. He had an interview in the morning and we had spent about 3 hours just talking.
Harry had to leave soon after, leaving a sweet kiss on my lips. Just as he went to walk out of the door he turned to me.
"Wren?" He asked.
"What?"
"You don't regret it? The kiss?" He asked me and ran his hand through his curls.
"Not for one second." I smiled at him reassuringly.
"Good." He smiled."see you soon?"
"Yeah, tomorrow maybe?"
"Okay ill call you love."
"Night Harry."
"Night Wrenna." And with that he left.
-
Once I was dressed this morning, I decided to go out for some coffee. I was walking down the hall o my apartment building when I passed my neighbor.
"Hi Wrenna." She smiled.
"Hi Jenny." I smiled back.
Jenny is about 27and is of Asian decent. She is really sweet and we talk ever so often. She already is happily married and has a daughter named Lila. That's the difference between me and her. She is responsible an has it all going for her. I just hope all be able to be half as amazing as her at that age.
I stopped in the hall for a moment to talk.
"How are you, we haven't asked in a while." Jenny reminded me.
"I know. I feel bad. I'm good though, I don't have anything going on lately because y job hours got cut." I told her.
"Oh really. I'm sorry."
"It's okay, more time to myself I guess. How are you?"
"I'm good. It's my one year anniversary tomorrow." She beamed.
"Really?! Your so lucky to have such a great husband."
"I know, he is amazing. I just don't know when we are going to celebrate. I have so much going on and I can't find a babysitter." Jenny said disappointed.
"I'm sorry." I paused them thought I would just be nice just because."wait Jenny, when do you need one?"
"Um well I have a meeting tomorrow afternoon and then I leave for a business trip on my anniversary. I guess tonight." She frowned.
"I'll do it." I offered.
She just looked at me for a moment.
"That is, if you want my to." I added.
"Are you sure?" She smiled.
"Of course, it'll be fun. Go Enjoy yourself."
"Are you sure?" She asked again.
"Positive. What time do you wanna drop Lila off at my house?"
"What time works for you?"
"I seriously have nothing going on."
"5:45?
"sounds good!"
"Thank you so so much." Jenny smiled brightly.
We parted ways and I walked to get my coffee. I guess I now had plans.
-
I decided to clean my house up an move anything the toddler could get into. I blasted my music and dusted, straightened out the couch pillows, and vacuumed. The house was finally starting to look nice when I heard a knock on thee door.
"Hey!" I smiled at Jenny who held little Lila in he arms.
"Hey, thank you so much for doing this for me."
"No problem." I walked into the living room letting her fallow me.
"Here is her diaper bag." She said setting it on the couch."here is her toys and things to entertain her."
"Okay. No allergies? Anything special I need to do to get her to sleep?" I asked just to be carful.
"Um, no allergies. Her bottle is in the bag with formula. She sometimes has trouble getting to bed, so just sing a lullaby."
How hard could it be?
"Thanks again! You saved my life." Jenny smiled on her way out.
"Anytime!" I called after her.
I went back into the living room and sat on the floor by the baby. She was lying on her back on her blanket. Her little hands held a toy above her head and her tiny fat legs shook in the air as she squirmed.
The little Asian baby was probably the cutest thing I have ever seen. Her big brown eyes studied my face as she made gurgling baby sounds.
"What do you want? Are you hungry?" I said in a sing song voice at the child.
I didn't expect her to respond. And she didn't.
"Lets get you a bottle." I told her as I picked her up.
Her tiny fingers clung to my top as she her chubby legs on either side of my left hip. I made my way to the kitchen with her super bag over my shoulder when my phone rang.
Once I managed to get it out of my pocket, I answered it not knowing who the caller might be.
"Hello?" I asked as I set down Lila's bag.
"Wrenna, it's Harry."
"Oh hey Harold." I smiled to myself.
"What are you doing on this fine evening?"
The one time I'm busy he decides o ask me o do something with him. Damn it.
"I'm actually babysitting my neighbors baby. Why, what's up?"
"Oh. Just wanted to hang out maybe." He sounded a little disappointed.
"I'm sorry." I said quietly.
"No worries, maybe another time." He told me as if he was going to end the call.
"No wait Harry!" I said almost a little frantic.
"Yeah?"
"Do you wanna come over and help me babysit?" I asked. Then I realized how stupid that sounded. But before I could change my mind he was already excepting.
"Sure. Why not."
" you don't have to... It was just an idea. It's probably not going to be too exciting." I warned him.
"It's fine. I want to. It'll be fun." He said with happiness. "I'll be right over."
"Sounds good."
I lied Lila on a blanket on the carpeted area closest to my kitchen. I began fixing her a bottle when she started crying. I rushed to finish her bottle then ran to her side.
"What's the matter?" I said scooping the child into my arms.
Her long eyelashes had tears gathered on them. She looked up at me and stopped crying suddenly.
"You want your bottle?" I said popping it into her mouth.
I looked out the window and slowly rocked back and forth. It was a comfortable silence filled with the sounds of my humming and little sniffles coming from Lila. I realized she probably needed a new diaper so I went and changed her. I came back into the living room and resumed in comforting her. As I swayed the infant, I saw a reflection in the window.
I almost jumped but realized it was Harry.
"Hey sorry to startle you." He spoke softly.
"Your fine." I smiled.
"Aww how cute." He said coming to look at the child in my arms.
"I know isn't she." I looked down at Lila.
"What's her name?" He asked as the child gripped onto his finger with her own tiny ones.
"Lila." I smiled at him.
It was a peaceful moment. Harry and I standing close together with a tiny child holding to his hand.
We sat down on the floor with Lila and watched the child flop her toys around.
"How was your day?" Harry asked as he lay on his stomach shaking the toys in front of the child.
"Good, nothing to exciting. Yours?" I asked.
"Good. We had an interview and then went to lunch. Nothing to exciting." He mocked me.
I just chuckled at him.
"You know Louis was rather happy when he found out I was coming to see you tonight." Harry added.
"Was he?" I smirked.
"Yes. And I wonder why."
"Well just imagine how excited he would be if he new we exchanged spit." Thats what Louis always called it when Harry and I kissed. Harry just laughed at me for my reference.
"It's funny that he wants you and I together so bad after everything." Harry tickled the child and Lila made a few gurgles.
"I think he feels bad honestly."
"Bad for what?" Harry asked. I swear he is stupid. And adorable with children. But mostly stupid.
"Bad for- never mind. Lets talk about something else." I said. I didn't even want to talk about the past drama. I just wanted to focus on now.
"Lets watch a movie." Harry said as he searched through my DVDs.
"Sounds good to me." I smiled and bounced Lila on my leg.
"Monsters inc.?" He grinned.
"My favorite!" I smiled at the fact that he remembered my favorite pixar movie.
Once we started watching the movie
Harry scooted closer and rested his arm over my shoulder. I held little Lila as she rested. I knew it wasn't my child. And I know it sounds crazy. But I couldn't help but feel like we were playing a part as a family for a night. Almost like some movie and we were just acting. I looked over at Harry only to see him peering down at Lila with a smile as she held onto his pointer finger. It melted me heart at the fact that he was so good with her.
"Can I hold her?" He asked looking at me.
Of course I had to say yes. But on the inside I wanted to say,"no, I don't know if I can handle watching you hold a tiny baby girl and being all cute and shit." Just the fact that he even was willing to take time from his pop star life to hang out with me while I babysit, made him even more attractive. If thats even possible.
"Of course you can hold her." I smiled a I gently rested little Lila down in Harry's strong arms.
He held the child and smiled at her like she was his own. He gently brushed his fingers through the small amount of hair thy sat on her head.
Harry held Lila for most of the movie until she needed her diaper changed. He then decided that it was my turn to hold her. After I changed her again, the movie credits were rolling and it was about time for Lila's bed.
"Bedtime sweetheart." I cooed to her.
"Do you need help?" Harry asked.
"Nah I can do it." I said as I walked down the hall. I was going to put her to bed in my room so Harry and I could hang out without waking her. Jenny was going to be here to get her later on in the night.
"Good night sweetly." I smiled at the infant as I lay her down in her carrier.
She just looked at me with tired eyes. I assumed she would fall asleep once I closed the door and turned the lights off. I put her blanket over her and left the room.
"She is all good?" Harry asked once I joined him on the couch.
"Yep." I smiled.
"She is such a cute baby." He faced me now.
I wondered where this was heading.
"I know, she really is."
There was a pause and nobody talked until Harry spoke up.
"Do you plan on having kids when your older?" He asked me.
I didn't really need to think. It was an easy answer. I just didn't expect him to ask me.
"Yeah, I do. I want to have two boys and two girls." I told him.
"Really? So four."
"Yeah, maybe more maybe less, I guess I'll know when I have one of my own." I chuckled.
"I guess so."
Our conversation was interrupted by crying coming from the other room.
"I'll go check on her." I said standing up.
"I'll come too." He fallowed me into my room.
We entered my room to find Little Lila crying her eyes out.
"What's the matter honey?" I said picking her up. I held her close hoping It would comfort her.
She didn't stop though.
"Does she need to be changed?" Harry asked.
"No, I changed her 10 minutes ago. She smells fine." I said looking in her diaper.
"Does she need her bottle?"he asked.
"Lets see."
I tried giving her a bottle but it only made it worse.
"Did her mom say anything about what to do?" Harry asked frantically trying to help calm the baby.
Then I thought. Yes, yes she did.
"She said to sing a lullaby or a song." I told him.
"Okay, then sing." He told me.
"You do it your the singer here!" I urged him.
"Fine." He sighed.
I sat against the head bored of my bed and rested Lila down beside me. Harry then sat on the other side of the infant and began singing.
"Rest your sleepy head, close your tired eyes, let your eyelids flutter like tiny butterflies. Your smile is gentle but I can see it in your eyes that your hurting deep down, that your hiding all your cries. Let the moonlight guide you too a peaceful sleep, I'll hold you in my arms, spend forever with me. Close your tired eyes, rest your sleepy head, everything gets better, just rest upon your bed." Harry sung out softly. I didn't even know what to do with myself. The way Harry sung and gently stroked Lila's tiny cheek. Lila wasn't even crying now, she was sleeping. Harry amazed me. In that moment he was so selfless and perfect in my eyes. I didn't know how to react. My feelings were bursting inside me.
The way he make me feel is indescribable. I'm scared of the feelings Harry gives me when I'm around him.
But what scares me even more, are the feelings I get when I'm not around him.
I now know I need Harry more than I thought.
