Se7en Sins

The news came as something more of a vivid shock rather than taking it’s time to sink in slowly; whilst momentarily, the world froze, paused on a single scene as I fought with angst and heartache after receiving that call; letting me know the fate of my best friend. Sitting alone in my apartment; blood dripping from my hands and knuckles bruised and battered from fights the night before — tears swept across my eyes, glazing them over. I never thought I’d be hearing that I was; television stations, newspapers and internet pages publishing news like madhouses ~ I guess every dog so to speak, finally has their day.

Sitting in the lounge room was cold; resting back in that damn comfortable recliner seat as law enforcement hunted around the apartment was something I was getting use to. When you work enough erasing the lines between right and wrong, you learn to deal with consequences rather than successes.

“Mr Tomlinson, do you mind coming with us to the station to answer a few questions?”

The detectives voice went in through one ear and out the other. My eyes had permanently parked themselves on the channel 91 news - images of his apartment being searched; that damn pent house atop the MGM. Somewhere along the line of agreement, my wrists were cuffed together - the cold metal creating a million new ideas and fantasies up inside my head as I was slipped into the backseat of a car. Eyes out the window, now fixated on the world around me, I wondered who’d want him dead. Why anyone would even have bothered with the trouble they’d be causing themselves. The question on everyone’s lips for a flavour of the month conversation would be, “Who killed Harry Styles?”
