You & I

Chapter 3

Becka waited frantically around Louis’s house for Harry to come back from his walk. It’s been over two hours; Harry has not called or left her a message, Becka was going to call the police until she saw Harry at the park. She felt relieved at first then she saw Louis talking to the boy. She watched he two boys from afar, “How can they do that? Hurt each other then act like everything is fine the next.”

“Because they know no matter what happens, they will always have each other.”

Becka turned around to see Jay also looking through the window, “Becka you seem like a sweet girl, tell me what you see out there?”

Becka looked out the window, “I see two boys talking, smiling, and laughing at each other.”

“Look a little bit closer.”

“I don’t know what you want me to see Jay.”

“I’ll tell you what I see. I see two boys who show people that they’re fine, everything is okay. The saddest people smile the brightest, the loneliest are usually the kindest, and the most damaged are the wisest,” Jay continued. “They both have gone through some stuff in life and they need each other to live. You see Becka, those boys are each other’s soul mates. They went through hell just to help the other.”

Becka looked back at the window with a smile, “I can see that now Jay.”

As Jay and Becka watched the boys, Jay’s phone rang not giving any caller ID. She picked up the phone then after a few minutes she dropped the phone grabbing Becka’s hand pulling her into Louis’s room.

“What’s going on Jay?” Becka asked. Jay didn’t give a respond. “Jay, what’s going on?”

“Becka I need you to stay here for me, okay?” Jay asked as she waited for Becka’s response.

Becka nodded her head. Jay shut the door then locked it preventing Becka to leave.

Jay ran down the stairs, unplugging every phone cord and device in the house. Jay forgot that the boys were still outside. Taking a risk, Jay ran outside to the boys, “Louis, Harry, you have to go back to the house. Louis, your father called. He said he’s coming for you and also said that whoever is with you will die. Becka’s safe in the house you boys have to come home, now.”

The boys ran towards the house not looking back. Bang! The town went slient, Louis stopped in his tracks as he watched Harry ran into the house then he stops looking back at Louis telling his to run. Louis turns around to see his mother lying on the black pavement.

“Mom?” Louis ran towards the still figured. “Mom!”

Harry ran after Louis to Jay. Louis picked up his mother and carried her to the house trying to be the strong boy he once was. Jay had beads of sweat rolling down her face, Louis knew she wasn’t going to make it but he wanted a chance to save is mother. Harry tried to help Louis but Louis told Harry to go upstairs with Becka. Harry did what he was told. Louis held his mother close to his chest, “Mom, mommy don’t leave me, not just yet.”

Jay struggled her breathe, “I’m not going to leave you Louis, not ever.”

Louis held his tears for too long. He let the tears roll down like rain.

Jay took a deep breath. “Louis, I want you to take of Harry. Don’t leave him, he needs you as much as you do. Promise me Louis that you would take care of Becka as well. I love you Louis.”

“Mom, don’t say that, please?” Louis held his head up high then back down to Jay. “I’m going to find you a doctor, Mom. Everything will be fine. You’re going to watch me walk and get my diploma for graduation. I will have a family and you will have grandkids to play with, Mom.”

“Baby, I will still be here but only in your heart,” Jay smiled. “You and Harry will be fine growing up, trust me.”

Harry placed his hand on Louis’s shoulder, “Take care of my boy Harry.”

“I promise Jay,” Harry gave a smile.

“That will be Mom to you later,” Jay laughed but soon turned into a cough.

Harry ran over to Jay as Louis wept holding his mother. They both tried their best to save Jay but death got to her. Louis tried to carry his mother but was to weak until Harry carefully picked up Jay from Louis and placed her in the house. Louis watched the boy carry his own mother, the person who gave him life, taught him the joy in everything, the one person who believed in him when no one else did. Now Louis was alone. Every time Louis tries to do something right, it seemed as if God wanted to ruin it. Louis ran. Ran to the place where no one would go, the place where to people it was the answer, the place he use to called home, Louis ran for his old church.

Tears left trails on the sidewalk and in the grass but faded in with the drops of rain as they fell from the sky. Louis came to a stop to a empty, abandoned road way blocked by trees in the path. Louis struggled, and climbed through the woods to find the church. The church had white paint chipped off, the brown door now faded to a rusty color with some holes in it. The glass windows were broken into.Louis looked at the church, The church is broken just like me, useless, nothing.

Louis walked up to the door and opened it to his own surprise. Although the church seemed broken, everything inside it looked new. There was some wooden benches that were broken or torn down but still walk in and know where everything was at. Louis sat down in the wooden benches thinking on a way to pray.

“God, why did this have to happen?” Louis rubbed his palms together chuckling at himself. “First you took my sister away, almost let death take over Harry, then let my own mother die in my arms. The only person who has been there for me and you just let her go. Why did you have to take her? Don’t you think I’ve been through enough hell in my life! Answer my question, why did this happen?”

Louis got up from the bench with a laugh, “I know church people say that you make us go through shit to help us become better people, well I don’t think so. I think you just love watching people like me suffer then favor the ones who fucking have the perfect life. I know that it’s bad to say bad words but fuck it, I can’t take this shit!”

While Louis was at the church, Harry left Jay’s body on her bed. Jay looked happy, at peace when she died but at least she was in a better place than what this world can give. Becka was still locked in Louis room so Harry unlocked the door then ran out to find Louis. Louis could be anywhere, Harry looked around the house for any type of clue then he found a nice picture of Jay and younger Louis standing in front a church building.

“That’s it!” Harry ran out of the house, got in Louis truck and drove to the church.

Harry didn’t know exactly where the church was so he asked people around the neighborhood, not speaking of course, until an older gentleman told him where to the church was. Harry thank the gent then drove to the church.

Louis paced himself around the church yelling at God about his life and Harry’s that he doesn’t notice Harry standing by the doorway.

“I may complain about how my life was shit, but look at Harry’s! Harry had a wonderful life; a mom and father that loved him, a brother who protected him and a voice. You may think that when you did this, you would have made him stronger. Well fuck you! His mother left him with an abusive father who raped and beat him, his brother left for the military but later on died and because of the fucking abuse Harry lost his voice and courage. Look I’m sorry okay for every wrong I’ve done and still do but at least help Harry, he needs it the most, more than me,” Louis sobbed falling on his knees. “Give him something to hold on to and keep. He needs it, God. I’m sorry I lost my anger and stuff but this kid is my everything and I want him to have the best because I care that much, no I love him. I know religious people are against the gay thing but I don’t care, and I’m sorry. Love is love right? Now I also know it was Adam and Eve but I think you meant to put us through so much that we would one day find that one person that can help out, even themselves.”

Harry sat down in the back bench and listened to Louis ramble on. Louis cares this much for me and yet I have done nothing for him?

“You have done a lot for me Harry, don’t ever think that.”

Harry shot his eyes back towards Louis who was standing a couple feet away from him with is arms down at his side.

“I guess I thought that out loud,” Harry shrugged. Louis walked closer to Harry as he stood up from the bench.

“Harry you have been there for me when I wasn’t strong or was about to give up,” Louis replied.

“But you have saved me so many times from James and them, what I’ve done means nothing compared to what you have,” Harry stated.

“Harry, you mean the world to me. Can’t you see that?” Louis asked stilled upset from him is outbreak. “Before we met, I was upset. I was with Skyelar, yeah, but she wasn’t the person I wanted, the person who I imagined being with for the rest of my life. All she wanted was a title that was it. But when you came something clicked in my head. I had to be close to you, you had some kind of energy that pulled me in. After a while, I felt some kind of feeling that I didn’t know when you were around me but I felt good, you know? But soon Jay told me that I was in love with you, and later I agreed. I’m in love with you. Your my immortal, my everything, and I need you, Harry. I’m broken beyond repair but do you still want to be with me. Child of the troubles?”

Harry stood tall with a smile, “Louis you maybe one pain in the ass, but your mine pain in the ass. I will try to fix you.”
