"What's the score?"

"10-8"

"Am I, Faith Thomas, finally going to beat Spencer Peterson in basketball?"

"Stop talking and check the ball."

I passed the ball to Spencer before he quickly checked it back.

"Shoot it." He said, looking me in the eyes.

I grinned. "If you say so."

I took one dribble to the right before shooting the ball. Finally, to end our long 1 on 1 match, the ball swished into the basket.

"YES!" I yelled throwing my hands up.

Spencer laughed and took a seat on the concrete.

"I let you win."

"Whatever, Peterson."

"You are moving tomorrow, I thought I should let you win once before you moved."

I let out a long sigh before taking a seat next to my best friend since birth on the driveway. Since as far back as I can remember, Spencer was the only person I could count on for anything and everything. He lived right next door to me. I would call him every night, just to hear his voice before i went to bed.

"Hey, Faith,"

I looked up at him.

"Let's not worry about that right now. We still have plenty of time together."

I let a small tear go. Spencer was the closest thing to a brother I had, and I don't think I can imagine life without him. Just tomorrow I would be hundreds of miles from him.

"Hey, don't cry. You'll be fine Faith. You'll have so many friends, you won't even remember me." He let out a light laugh. "You're an amazing person, Faith Thomas, you'll have no trouble at all."

"Thank you, Spencer." I let more and more tears fall. "That's just what I needed to hear."

I leaned into his shoulder and let my heavy eyelids close.

"Faith, honey, wake up!"

I groaned before rolling to the opposite side of my bed. My mom scurried quickly around the room, making sure everything was packed.

I love Grandma Sue, but I really didn't want to spend the entire summer at her house. Just as everything in my life finally started coming together, my parents made me move, once again.

"Faith, don't make me tell you again."

"Fine, fine. I'm awake." I mumbled, barely audible.

"Today's the day, Faith, aren't you excited?!"

"No."

"Oh, sweetheart," My mom sat down next to me in the bed, putting her arm around me. "You'll meet so many new friends! Start a whole new life, you'll be fine." She kissed the top of my head and walked out of the room.

"Be ready to leave in 10!"

I got up slowly and walked around my room for the last couple minutes I had. It felt like I was in a daze, reliving old memories with Spencer. All the memories, good or bad, mad me even more upset. The more I walked through my old room, the sadder I got.

My wooden door creeked open.

"Hey, honey, it's time."

I nodded and said one last goodbye to my old room, closing the door slowly behind me. As we pulled out of the driveway in silence, I watched as we slowly drove away from my house, as we drove away from my life.
