Year six

We all throw our hats on the bench in the music room, before sitting in a circle, the typical set up, Kyle and his gang of misfits, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Niall( the popular boys ) and the rest of us.

Ms Worthingtons usual greeting of " are you all happy with where you are sitting " rings in our ears.

We all smile up at the music teacher, who gives a curt little nod.

Ok kids we are going to play a game. A collective groan, an order to be quiet and were playing ' Oats and Beans."

We say the rhyme till the bit were it says searching for a partner.

Daniel stops on me. Crap. I link hands with him and we skip around the circle.

I stare at the floor embarrassed.

Daniel takes a spot next to Imogen who looks down on him like he's filth.

Now it's my turn. I walk around the circle with the circle with my head down.

I hear a giggle as I pass by by Louis. What's he done this time, the boys are always are always showing off in our specialist lessons.

Typical.

I end up with my dude friend Lachlan Keith.

I smile at him shyly and take his hands.

When we sit down Ms W announces were going to play money and the key.

And whoop de do.

I'm in. I sit in the middle and hug my knees to my chest and cover my eyes.

Feeling twenty eight other eyes on me, I hate being the centre of attention.


The class starts singing behind me the simple rhyme about so and so hiding the money and the key before I have to guess who's hiding it behind they're back .

Well it's obviously not Will, the idiot has his hands fiddling with his book.

I guess the two correctly, now I have to pick someone to take my place.

My eyes scan the room, one face sticks out among others.

Louis. He's got this gigantic goofy smile on his face.

" Jesus, Louis." I say. And I sit down between Harry and Liam, where Louis was.

" nice way to say it Jade , 'Jesus, Louis'."

Harry whispers in my ear. I giggle and feel Imogen sending daggers in my direction, wow girl I don't like him.

We play our recorders and write something in our text books before where told to line up.

Peyton nudges me as we line up.

" Do you know what Louis was doing to you?"

" what during Oats and Beans? " I ask her.

" Yar, then " she rubs her arm arm and looks around awkwardly.

" what." She thrusts her hips forward moving her arms to match.

I blush crimson.
