You Make Me Strong

After lunch more and more people started talking to me. One girl came up to me and randomly hugged me in History class.

"Oh. Hi?" I said lightly hugging her. She has bleach blonde hair and was a little taller than me. Her eyes were brown and she had her dimples pierced.

"I'm sorry. I just had to hug you for what you said to Zayn in lunch today. That was awesome!" Her voice was high pitched. She pulled away. "My name is Natalie." She smiled.

"I'm-"

"Emi. I heard you say your name in the cafeteria. Everybody has been talking about what happened." She giggled and I smirked.

"He needed to be put in his place." I said as I took my seat. She sat down beside me.

"I've been wanting to do that but I don't have the guts to." She looked down at the floor. "You were right when you said that when a girl isn't interested in him, he calls them a bitch or a slut. He did it to me last year." I shifted my gaze to the door as it opened. I inwardly groaned.

"Oh great." I whispered to myself.

Niall walked in by himself and started walking back towards where I was sitting.

Here we go.

He sat down right in front of me. Before I could turn to talk to Natalie again, he turned around. My eyes connected with his and my heart fluttered. He smiled at me.

"Hey." That was the only thing he said. He looked nervous as he ran his hand through his hair.

"Hello." I smiled and stared at him.

"Umm... I'm Niall." He stuck his hand out for me to shake it.

Well at least he's not being a dick head and actually has manners.

I shook his hand and I swear, my heart stopped at his touch.

"I'm Emi, but you should already know that." That came out a little too harsh but oh well. He still had a hold of my hand. My cheeks flushed red and I pulled my hand away.

"Oh I know." He laughed nervously. "That was pretty brave what you did at lunch today." I looked away from his eyes and grinned.

"I'm known to be pretty brave. Plus, Zayn doesn't scare me at all." Niall laughed softly as I spoke.

His laugh is so fucking cute.

"Nobody has ever had the guts to come up to our table like that and rip one of apart. Especially not a girl as beautiful as you." I started blushing again. He smiled at the sight of my cheeks changing colors.

"I guess I just wanted to make a name for myself so nobody fucks with me." I looked him in the eyes again and he rubbed his neck nervously. "Oh come on Mr. Horan, don't be so nervous. I'm not going to tear your ego apart like I did Zayn's."

Another nervous laugh escaped his lips. "I really hope I don't get on your bad side." I laughed this time. A little louder then I intended to.

"Don't worry. I'm not always a bitch. I have my sweet side to me." I leaned forward and my desk. "I don't show that side very much though."

"Well I guess I'll have to bring it out of you sometime." He grinned and turned around as the teacher started to talk.

I was left a little speechless and couldn't focus on what the teacher was talking about. I just kept looking at the back of Niall's head, thinking about what he just said.

"Alright, since it's the first day, we are going to split up into pairs and fill out this paper getting to know each other." The teacher's voice boomed bringing me out of my thoughts. He walked around handing out a sheet of paper with twenty questions on it. "Pair up with someone you don't really know."

I was expecting Natalie to ask me to be my partner but she paired up with Louis.

When did he get in here?

"Wanna be my partner?" That was the first time I actually heard a hint of an Irish accent. I looked up from the paper to be met with mesmerizing blue-green eyes.

"Sure?" I replied, a little confused. He stood up and we walked to the back of the class and sat on the floor.

"Okay, first question." He started talking and I forced myself to look at the paper. My stomach dropped as I read the first question. "What are your parents names?" Tears brimmed my eyes at the thought of my mom and dad.

"Ummm...." My voice was shaky. "My mom name was Katrina." I took a deep breath and looked up at Niall. He had sorrow in his eyes. "My dad's name was Tony." A single tear fell from my eye. He reached up and wiped it away gently with his thumb.

"Don't cry, darlin." He scooted closer to me and wiped away more tears as the fell from my eyes. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked softly. I shook my head a little and looked away. "Okay. Please don't cry anymore." He tilted my chin up with his hand and stared into my eyes.

"Okay." I whispered and a small smile came across my lips. His smile was reassuring and sweet.

"Let's forget about this paper." He folded the papers up and threw them in the trash. "Look, I'm having a party tonight since it's the first day of school and my parents are out of town..." He trailed off.

"I heard about the party." My voice still a little shaky but I tried to pull it together.

"I would love it, if you would come." My head snapped up to stare at him.

"You actually want me to come to your party? What will your friends think if I show up?" He chuckled.

"Don't worry about them. They respect you, well not Zayn, but the rest of them do." A big grin spread across his face. I could see 'invisible' braces line his teeth. I couldn't help but smile.

"I'll be there." I responded quietly. More like shyly. The bell rang just in time. Niall stood up and held out his hand to help me up. I took ahold of it and he pulled me up, into a hug.

What is with this school and hugging me?

"I'll see you there, Emi." His voice was sweet as he pulled away. I nodded and he walked out of the classroom. I turned around to see Natalie and Louis staring at me, with looks of shock on their faces.

"What?" I stared down at the floor. Louis chuckled.

"Looks like Niall finally found something else to focus on, other than soccer."
