Over Again
Nightly Interrogations
I sat on my bed, thinking of what Gracie said just a few hours ago. She's a fighter in an underground society? Since when did her father gamble? Why doesn't her mother work?
And I know I'm not the boy I use to be. I mean, I'm part of the world's most famous boyband. I'm definitely not the same, but not all that different. And I did come back, I just never had time to visit her. I didn't think she'd want me to, anyway.
"Zayn," I hear a small voice call from the other side of my bedroom door, "Can I sleep in your room tonight?" My eleven year old sister, Safaa, is standing out there with a pillow clutched to her chest when I open the door.
"Saf, you're eleven, you're too old to be scared to sleep in your own room," I said as she climbed onto my bed. She giggled.
"I'm not scared, Zaynie. I just missed you, that's all," she said. I smiled at her, laying down next to her on the bed. For a moment, it was quiet.
"Zayn?" Of course. "Why was that girl running from the house? Did you scare her?" I shook my head.
"Do remember a girl named Gracie from when you were younger? You seven or six," I said. She nodded.
"She was your best friend, but after XFactor started, we never saw her anymore." She sounded sad. I nodded, reluctantly.
"That girl was her. She was mad at me for not telling her I was going till the day before I did, and then I saw her today, an she isn't want to see me." She shot up, jabbing her finger into my chest.
"Zayn Jawadd Malik! Why would you do that?!" I shrugged my shoulders, turning away from my sister. "You better go get her back! I know love when I see it! You guys got it!"
"You know I'm with Perrie, Saf," I mumble. She laughs bitterly, getting up from the bed, taking her pillow with her. "Hey hey hey, where are you going?" She reached the door, opening it, and turning to me.
"Win her back," she said and slammed the door behind her.
