Small Bump

Small Bump 1/1

“Oh my god! She’s kicking again! Niall, come feel! She’s kicking again!” Harry said excitedly.
“I know Harry, I’ve felt her kick 10 times already.” Niall rolled his eyes.
“She’s so amazing.” Harry whispered, rubbing my belly.
It really warmed my heart to see how excited Harry was for the baby. I had no idea that he’d be so ecstatic about it.
“Wow! She’s still kicking. I love feeling her move.” Harry said.
I laughed.
“What?” He looked up at me.
“Nothing, babe.” I smiled. He was so adorable, I had never seen him so genuinely happy.
“Daddy’s so excited for you to come,” he said as he rubbed his hands along my stomach smoothly. “We’re counting down the days for you to be here.”
“You still want to name her Darcy, huh?” I laughed and rolled my eyes.
“I do.” He looked up at me. “You like that name, right, Darcy? Oh, she kicked. That means yes!”
“Shes always kicking, Harry.”
He grinned. “I’ve been writing a song for her. I want to sing it to her every night to bed after she’s born.”
He pulled out Niall’s acoustic guitar. “Shhh. Don’t tell him I’ve been using this.”
He began to strum slowly.
“You’re just a small bump unborn, in four months you’re brought to life,
You might be left with my hair, but you’ll have your mother’s eyes.”
As he continued, I couldn’t help but tear up. It was beautiful. He was beautiful. We were going to start a family, and I knew he was going to be so supportive. Our baby wasn’t even born yet, and he cared so much about her.
“Erm.. it’s not finished yet. I’m not really sure how to end it. But it will definitely be finished by the time she is here.” He smiled widely, but it faded quickly. “Wait, why are you crying?”
“It’s just… perfect.” That’s all I could say.
“You’re perfect. She’s perfect. Our family is going to be… perfect.”
4 Months Later
“Niall, could you get me my shoes? Liam, get my bag!”
I tried rushing down the stairs to the front door, but it’s not easy when you’re 9 months pregnant.
“I’ve already got everything!” Harry grinned at the bottom of the stairs.
It was 3am when I felt my water break. I was so tired I could barely think straight.
“Do you want us to go with you guys now?” Louis asked.
“No… it’ll be a little while. You guys should all get some rest, and meet us there in the morning.” I said, “I think we’re all very tired.”
Well, except Harry, who was practically bouncing off the walls.
“Cmon babe lets go!” He encouraged.
“Alright, alright.” I laughed.
While we were driving in the car, I could feel his excitement in the air. I was quite nervous actually, but I was so happy our baby was finally going to be here. Then we’d have our perfect little family.
“Are you ready?” I asked.
“I’m more than ready.” He smiled.
“So….Darcy?”
Yes!”
“Alright, Darcy.” I giggled. It really was a cute name.
When we got into our hospital room, Harry sat down with a notebook. He was so into it, I called his name a few times before he actually heard me.
“What is that?”
He smirked and held up his notebook. “I need to finish this song. For Darcy.”
“You don’t have to finish it right this second, silly!”
“Yes, I do! I want to sing it to her on her first night at home.”
“Well, we’ll be here a few days, you can work on it then. Now come here!”
He put the book down, sat next to me, and held my hand. “I love you. This is going to be amazing.”
12 Hours Later
The room was completely silent. I looked to the corner of the room where Harry sat, looking out the window. The door slowly opened, and Niall, Louis, Liam and Zayn came in. No one said a word. Liam walked straight to me and hugged me as tight as he could.
“We’re here for you babe. It’s okay.”
Once he let go, I looked over to see Lou reaching out to Harry, and pulling him into a hug. I finally saw Harry’s face. Tears were streaming down his face, and he tried to hold it in but he let out a sob.
I looked up at Zayn and Niall, only to see them shedding a few tears, too.
“Why did this happen to me, Lou? She was supposed to be my perfect little girl.” Harry cried into his shoulder.
The tears flooded my eyes until I couldn’t see anything anymore. I looked down, trying to blink them away.
“Babe, you can cry. You don’t have to hold it in. We’re all here for you.” Zayn whispered.
Once he said that, I couldn’t stop. The tears kept coming and coming uncontrollably. I didn’t know who was hugging me, but it was comforting. I finally looked up and five boys were all hugging me and crying, too.
Our perfect family. Gone.
The boys left me and Harry alone, although we couldn’t even speak. If either of us tried to say anything we broke out into a sob.
“Harry, why don’t you get out of here for a little bit? Get some fresh air. I think you need it, babe.”
His red eyes looked up at me. “I don’t want to leave you.”
“Trust me, I’ll be fine babe. Go find the guys, and come back later.”
He reluctantly got up, gave me a kiss on my forehead, and left.
I looked over to the side-table, where a notebook lay. I picked it up and opened it to the last page.
“You were just a small bump unborn just four months then torn from life.
Maybe you were needed up there but we’re still unaware as why.
We’ll miss you, Darcy. x”
