Naomi p.o.v.

It was another normal day in Doncaster, me playing Minecraft on my Xbox, Dad watching the news, Mom reading the newspaper, Cody on his IPod, Granddad cooking cake for my birthday, and Grandmother Knitting. Then I hear something unusual on the news.

"There is some kind of sickness spreading across the United Kingdom. It's a very unusual sickness that hasn't been figured out yet. Here is a picture of a human with the sickness," Mitch the news man said before showing a picture of a sick person. I gasp at the sight.

"She looks exactly like a zombie!" I shout.

"What?" Dad asks.

"Zombie! Like, a flesh eating monster!" I explain. The phone rings.

"Hello?" Granddad says. "Naomi sweetie, it's for you,"

I run to the phone.

"Zombies!" Me and my best friend Mona say at the same time.

"Let me go first," I say. "I was playing Minecraft, while my father was watching the news, and I heard Mitch talking about a sickness, and he showed a picture of a woman that looked like a zombie! It was really creepy. Do you think I was a zombie?"

"Well first of all, I was gonna say the same thing. Second of all, totally! That's what I called about!" She answers.

"Get off the phone! needa use it," Cody says.

"Shove it up your ass," I say.

"What am I supposed to shove up my ass!?" He yells.

"Your fucking girlfriend," I say.

"I don't have one," he says.

"Exactly," I point out.

"Shut up!" He shouts.

"Ok, that's all I need to call about. Let Takoda use the phone now," Mona says. She hangs up so I give the phone to Cody, and sit down to continue my game.

Theres a knock on the door, and Dad answers it. But instead if a friendly person I hear growling. I just think it's a dog. But it doesn't sound like one, but Dad answers the question by screaming. I get up and see a person chewing on him. But I know it's not a human. Its a flesh eating monster. A zombie.

"CODY! GET OUT HERE WITH YOUR BAT!" I cry running to Dad. I struggle to get the greenish thing off of Dad but fail, but as Granddad says, 'Fail till you succeed'. So that's exactly what I do. There's purple ooze all over me and Dad, but I keep trying. The Dad starts growling. I quickly run to Granddad and Grandmother while two zombies are about to eat us. Mom holds me tight.

"Save yourself," she whispers in my ear before she pushes me right before the two green monsters chew them to monsters themselves. I run to Cody's room, and barge in. He's just petting Carmel, our dog, and staring at the wall.

"Cody!" I whisper, which startles him. "I told you to come out there with your bat!"

"You-You did?" He asks.

"Yes! Now let's get outa here before they find us," I say.

"Who?" He questions.

"Lets just go!" I say.

"What about our stuff?"

"We'll get new things! Just grab Carmel and let's go!" I say. He does what I say, and hand her to me. I grab her. Cody opens the window, and helps me out. He got out just in time. The walkers were already in the door after he got out.
I set Carmel down, because she was heaving, and she was about three so she could walk on her own. She was a German Shepard. That's it. A normal, over protective, big, beautiful German Shepard.

"So, what happened in there?" Cody asks, taking me out of my thoughts.

"Um, someone uh, knocked on the door and uh, m-my dad answered it, and uh, a thing, was at the door, and uh, bite my dad and Dad and the thing ate my mom, granddad, and grandmother," I stutter.

"A thing?" He asks.

"Well, no. It was, a um, zombie?" It came out as a question.

"If it ate people-"

"It actually was a zombie, because it ate human flesh. And it had rotten flesh. I got it from Minecraft," I cut him off.

"Oh, ok then…" he says.

A couple hours later, I hear whimpering. I look back, and see Carmel laying on the ugly grey concrete.

"Carmel! Get up silly girl!" I say. She stays. I walk over to her, and bend down.

"Whats wrong baby?" I coo. She whispers again. I just pick her up and run back to Cody who was still walking and didn't know I was gone. He looks over to me with a confused look on his face.

"Where'd she come from?" He asks.

"Oh, she got hurt or something, so I just picked her up-"

"No. Her," he says, pointing past Carmel and I. I look at where he's pointing, and see a girl about 6 years old following us.

"Uh, hi. May I ask who you are?" I ask her.

"Oh, hello! I'm sorry for my manners! My name is Masey, what's yours?" She asks politely.

"My name's Naomi, and that's Cody," I smile.

"Ok! So, what's your story?" She asks.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"How you got here, walking on the street? And you don't have to tell me," she explains.

"I-I'd rather not," I say.

"Ok. But I'd like you to tell me when you have the time," she smiles. "And who's this big doggie?"

"This is Carmel. I'm holding her because I think she's hurt or hungry or something," I explain.

"She has a broken paw," she says.

"How did you know that?" I ask.

"I could tell," she answers. After that there just a silence. Not awkward or peaceful. Just pure silence.

But then I hear footsteps from the alley front of us.

"Get ready to run…" I whisper, and hand Cody Carmel.


No weapons, no life…

How'd you like the first chapter? And just telling ya, this is my book, but I changed it a little. It was on my other account that I got locked out of. The book was called I survived, so yea. And next chapter will come later, and it will be Narrators p.o.v.. The chapters will be: ________ p.o.v., Narrator's p.o.v., _________ p.o.v.. And so on. :)
