Darcy 2

I woke up around 6:00 that morning. Today was the first day of senior year. Cheerfully, I got up and went to the bathroom to look into the mirror. My hair was still half straight from yesterday. I took out my straightener and plugged it in.
"Good morning Darcy"! I heard my stepmom say from the kitchen. I peeked my head out of the bathroom.
"Good morning Steph", I said with a huge smile on my face. My dad was drinking coffee next to her. I looked back to the bathroom and felt the outside of my straightener. Still not hot. I walked back into my room and looked for something to wear. Last week, Stephanie took me shopping and bought me a TON of new clothes. I grabbed black and white tribal print leggings and a plain black v-neck top. I started undressing out of my pj shorts and tank top. As I was taking off my tank top, I looked at my bare stomach. There sat a huge ugly scar that brought up a thousand memories. I remember the abuse, the pain, the feeling, and the hatred of my dad's ex girlfriend, Chloe. Even the name gives me shivers. I closed my eyes and snapped out of it. Chloe was far far away and I would never see her again. I didn't need to worry about her. I smiled at myself in my stand up mirror and finished getting dressed.
"You look great kid", Stephanie said as I walked out into the kitchen and sat next to my dad.
"I'm not a kid anymore, I'm 17", I said whining in a joking voice.
"Shut up! Don't remind me"! Dad said smiling through his cup of coffee.
"What do you want to eat"? Stephanie asked clapping her hands together, trying to change the subject.
"Eggs would be fabulous", I said. I was starving! Stephanie nodded and walked over to the stove.
"I need to get a picture of you before you head out", dad said setting his newspaper and his coffee down.
"Okay", I said. All of the sudden, tears started forming in his eyes.
"You alright"? I asked. He wiped a falling tear.
"My little girl is going to be an adult in less than 6 months! Next year, your going to be off to college and not stuck here with daddy holding your hand", he said. I started tearing up as well.
"Dad, we've been through so much together. It's not like I'll forget about you", I said putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I hope not. Now go finish getting ready before you end up bawling, too", he said. I kissed him on the cheek and went into the bathroom to straighten my hair.
"Smile"! Dad said when I was done with everything. I was standing in front of the huge tree in our front yard. I smiled brightly with my bag over my shoulder and my hair slightly blowing in the wind.
"Beautiful"! Stephanie said looking at the picture on dad's phone.
"Thanks but I have to go, Justin's waiting for me. Bye"! I said making my way toward the driveway. My boyfriend Justin and I walked to school everyday together. I missed him so much because he spent the whole summer in America with his distant cousins.
"Bye princess"! Dad yelled after me. I smiled and waved while walking. Woods surrounded our super long driveway so they didn't ever get to see Justin waiting for me.
"Looking good baby", Justin said putting his arm around my waist as we walked. Good thing my dad wasn't in sight. He would flip!
"Did you get shorter in these past three months"? He asked. I rolled my eyes and playfully punched his arm.
"Um no you got taller", I said looking up. Okay I was a 5'1" senior but he was also 5'10". Tall stuff...
"Wow I have missed you so much", he said stopping us on the sidewalk of the dead road. No cars had been in sight.
"I've missed you, too", I said wondering why he stopped me just to say that. He leaned down and kissed me softly. I smiled. He then started kissing more roughly. He laid soft kisses on my neck.
"Justin. Lets go before we're late for school", I said. Something was strange about him. Last year, he was always sweet and never liked that. Weird, but whatever. Senior year was going to be amazing.
