TONI'S POV

---

"Melissa!" I yelled to my bff. Last week we got a call that we won tickets to the Music Awards in California. We live over in Ohio, so it will be a short plane trip over, but we still have to take a plane. God, I'm afraid of planes.

"Yea?!" Melissa hollered back as she dragged her bags out to the living room.

"Check list!" I said in a duh tone. We do this thing where we make lists for EVERYTHING. We go shopping, we make a list. Leave the house, we have a list to go over. Cleaning, we have a list.

"Clothes?"

"Check."

"Books?"

"Check."

"Passports and stuff?"

I looked over to the kitchen counter. "Check."

"Alright! Let's go!" She yelled. We run outside. Well, i limped. Last month, I got in a car accident and broke my ankle, but it's almost healed, I just limp now.

We put our things into the cab trunk and climbed into the backseat. I looked out the window at the house I've lived in my whole life.



My mother died when i turned 19, so it's mine now. My father left us when I was 3, so it's mine only. Then Melissa moved in with me. We met in 10th grade.

I turned my attention to something else as the cab driver started the taxi. I thought about my ex boyfriend, Zayn. I thought back to the day we broke up. He is unforgivable.

FLASHBACK

I walked into the house with groceries on my arms. "Melissa! Help me with the food!" She didn't answer. I shrugged and put the groceries away then walked to her room quietly.

I opened the door and gasped at the sight in front of me. I ran to my favorite place to be when i was upset. The creek.




I sat down at weeped. I cried, bawled, whatever you wanna call it. I cried until i felt someones presence. I looked up and saw Melissa. Behind her stood Zayn.

"Get away from me! Zayn we're done! Don't ever talk to me again!" I screeched at them. Zayn had tears in his eyes and he ran off without objection. Melissa stayed.

"Are you mad at me? You shouldn't be. Zayn walked in a minute after you left and walked in my room, jumped on me and started to kiss me. i kept pushing him off of me. Eventually, i jumped on top of him and I went to yell at him, but he leaned up and kissed me. i swear, you walked in at the wrong time." she defended.

"I believe you. Come on, lets go. I'm hungry." I whispered and we walked back into the house.

FLASHBACK OVER

I wiped my eyes, realizing i was crying. I looked out the window and saw we were pulling into the airport. I looked over at Melissa and saw she was gazing out her window like i was. I brought my thoughts back to the breakup. That was last year. I havent seen Zayn since. Thank GOD! I haven't seen any of our friends either. Harry, Liam, Niall, Louis. After we broke up, none of them talked to me. At first they did. Trying to get me to take Zayn back. But Zayn never tried. After many attempts, they gave up.

We pulled up to the airport and got out. I tipped the cab driver and we got our bags.

"Toni?" Melissa asked me.

"Yea?" I responded.

"Why were you crying in the taxi?" She questioned with worry in her voice.

"Oh, i hurt my ankle when i walked out." I lied to her. I never lie to her. She never lied to me. I know that.


We walked up to the airport line and gave our tickets to the lady and walked into the plane. Melissa and i had seats in the same row. We were in first class, and both of us had seats on the outside closest to the aisle. I sat down as she did also. Turning my head to the right, i looked at the people i shared seats with. Two men around my age. They looked familiar. We probably went to a few parties that we saw each other. One of them glanced at me, then turned back to the other and talked. The second guy turned at me then and turned back to the first guy. How rude! Then the second guy, the one next to me, turned forward and the first one, closest to the window, turned to me. The second guy then looked at me too.

The second guy then sayed, "Toni?"
