Cracked
Unfortunate Events
"Oh, your father would have been so proud!" My mother squealed, teary eyed, as I tried to fight back screaming and crying and thrashing around due to the fact that I agreed to go to ABB. Short for Academy of Bloody Battle, by the way.
"I'm sure he would have been," I replied with a tight smile.
We're speaking like this because my father died 10 years ago. But, he got shot by a woman he was cheating with. My brother Andrew reckons it was for the best but Mum denies it.
"Yeah. She got in for almost murdering me. Get in, Kalle!" Andrew yells. He already goes to ABB, but he came to the train station to pick me up.
"Be good. Send me a card," My mother reminds me and she kisses my forehead. "Have fun, Kalle."
"Bye, Mum." I fake a smile. Andrew pulls my hand, so we can get to his car. And then I see my mother fade away, ever so slowly, as the tears in my eyes gather and I wipe away tears.
"Wuss." Andrew snickers. I punch him in the stomach. "I'll give you a black eye, Andy."
"Try," He smiles as he opens the door to the front seat.
I throw my suitcase in first. Next, I throw myself in, as if I was throwing trash in a bin.
I might as well be. Think about it. Compared to all those ruthless barbarians in ABB, what am I? A piece of shit.
"Cheer up, sis." Andrew remarks jokingly as he starts up the engine and the car buzzes.
"Why? I won't fit in." I mumble as I sit up. He laughs as he looks both ways before starting to drive.
"Sure you will! Everyone says that. You'll get into a Gang once you get there."
I moan, covering my face with my hands. "Okay. Anyone I should look out for?"
His lips go pale. "Lots. But mostly, listen to me. I don't want you falling in love with anyone, understand? Everyone there has hearts of stone. They will break your's and you'll never love again, for the rest of your life."
"Got it, Love Doctor."
"Shut up." He scoffs.
For the rest of the car ride, we're silent, as I process what he said. How very fucking unfortunate those people are heartless. I bet they had their hearts broken.
Either that, or they were just born into heartless families.
Which reminds me, I wonder how the founder of ABB founded it. Did he just decide to start a buisiness to have children brutally murder each other? Not my current theory. Heck, I bet it was just a series of unfortunate events (just like the heartless teens) that caused a chain of kids to stream into ABB.
oh my god i love this story it's amazing
