Dark Side (Harry Styles) HOLD

Lux wanted to be selfish and worry about tonight's elimination and her issues with Harry, but she cared about Sara and Niall more than those things.

Their relationship had quickly become pure, beautiful, and real. Niall treats her with such respect, and he's so sweet to her, Lux has never seen Sara happier. And now, she's crying on Lux's shoulder, a sobbing mess.

“Why would they do this? I've been doing fine in the competition, even better than I probably would have if I didn't have Niall's support. Now they're taking him away from me, like that's going to make me work harder?" She paused to sniffle and wipe her cheeks.

"All I want to do is sing sad songs and eat cake and die! The biggest result they'll get from this ban is my ass when it gets fat from all the chocolate I'm going to eat while watching Sandra Bullock movies!” Sara wailed out, and Lux chewed back a laugh at her dramatics.

“Do you think you'll still see him?” Lux whispered, raising her eyebrows.

“I can't! It's against the...oh.” Sara looked up at her, “What if we get caught?”

Lux smirked, “You won't. I'll make sure of it.”

“You'd really do that? You could get into trouble..” Sara began to shake her head again.

“I know, and this competition means the world to me... but I've never seen a guy look at anybody the way Niall looks at you, Sara. What you two have - it's so good. How can anyone try to deny you of that? I won't stand back and watch you guys get destroyed too. If anyone in this house deserves to be with one another, its you two.” Lux pulled her in tighter, rubbing her shoulder as Sara wrapped her arms around Lux's waist tightly.

“I love you.” She said quietly, sniffling.

“I love you, too.” Lux laughed as Sara moved in for a full hug, squeezing her tightly.

“I don't think Niall will go for it. He cares about my placement here too much to try and jeopardize it. Maybe I should leave the sneaking around to you and Harry, eh?” Sara smirked, nudging her lightly.

Lux tried to smile and nod, but her face fell enough for Sara to notice it immediately.

“Oh no, don't tell me you two aren't gonna be throwing each other into closets and devouring one another! That is so you and Harry.” She gasped, sitting up fully and turning to face Lux.

“Nah.. I don't think that's gonna happen. Harry actually.. he told me he cares about me more than himself, so he's trying to not be selfish and let me be so I can focus on the competition.”

“That sounds like Niall. Not Harry. Maybe they like... switched personalities. Ohmygod, like Freaky Friday!” Sara took her two palms and clashed them together, her eyes widening. “Have you talked to any weird Chinese ladies lately? Had any fortune cookies?!”

Lux couldn't help herself this time and laughed loudly, throwing her head back and clasping her hand over her mouth to try and stop herself. Sara was one of those girls who couldn't help but laugh when someone else did, so her laugh mixed with Lux's, so loud that they didn't hear the knock on the door.

“You two seem awfully chipper.” Irish accent, sniffle at the end. They both stopped laughing immediately and looked up at Niall with his red cheeks and pouty mouth.

“Baby.” Sara whimpered, standing up and running to him instantly.

She wrapped her arms around his waist tightly and Lux smiled as his arms engulfed her tiny upper body. Lux forgets how short Sara is because she's always wearing the biggest heels, but now she's barefoot and comes up below Niall's shoulders. She looks like a child compared to him, but in the most adorable way possible.

“It will be okay, right?” He whispered to her, “Tell me it will be okay.”

“It's gonna be fine.” Sara cooed back, reaching up to cup his face. Lux's heart melted at her comforting him even though she was just crying her eyes out to Lux.

"I know I should stay away from ya and all, but I don't think I can.” Niall whispered, shaking his head. Lux suddenly felt like this was way too intimate of a moment for her to be witnessing, so she stood up and tiptoed to the door that they stood by.

“I'm gonna give you guys some time alone. I'll be right outside. I'll um, I'll knock three times if anyone's coming, okay?” Lux smiled when Niall chuckled, nodding at her before she left.

She slid down against the wall next to the door, looking down both ends of the hallway to make sure nobody was around or coming her way. The last thing she wanted was for Niall and Sara to feel safe and then have it all ruined because of something stupid she does.

She could briefly hear them talking to one another, but soon it quieted down and Lux smiled knowingly as she tried to block out all the other noises that escaped from the bedroom.

Lux turned her head to the left, feeling her heart jump in her chest when she saw someone coming. She got ready to knock until she realized that she recognized those shoes, those jeans, that stupid ugly sweater and that fucking beautiful face. It was only Harry.

He slid down against the wall next to her, sighing heavily and training his big eyes on her.
“I'm sorry.” He whispered, “And that's not something I'm good at saying, soo..”

“Okay.” She whispered, turning her head away to stay on the look out.

“Have you ever met someone and immediately knew that you never wanted them to not be a part of your life?” His voice was still a mere whisper, his eyes vague as they stared away.

Lux looked down at her jeans, picking at an imaginary piece of lint. “Yes.”

“That's how I feel when it comes to you. It's weird, because you're like this little annoying blond American twat, and you drive me absolutely crazy...” He paused to chuckle lightly.

“Wow, thanks so much. I'm so glad we're having this conversation.” Lux grumbled, keeping her face turned away from his. He reached out and touched her hair lightly, picking up a piece of it and twirling it in-between his fingers.

“I wasn't finished.” He whispered, waiting for her to finally look over at him before he continued. “You drive me absolutely crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I literally don't know what my life will be like if I don't speak to or see you every day after this competition. You're like.. one of my best mates now, Lux. I want you with me, always. Always.”

She swallowed harshly, forcing herself to look away from him, continuing her patrol for Niall and Sara. Lux didn't know how to reply to that, to the guy she loves calling her his “best mate.” How is anyone supposed to reply to that?

“I'm covering for Niall and Sara.” She stated, explaining herself even though he didn't ask.

She just wanted to get past what he just said to her, she just didn't want to reply to it at all.

“Are they shagging in there?!” Harry's eyes widened and she laughed lightly at his expression.

“Oh, they're in love. It's so sweet.” Lux sighed, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her face against them lightly. “They make it seem so easy, but I've never known a love that didn't come with pain and despair.” She looked over at him for a long moment.

“Yeah. Me either.” He whispered back, his eyes locking with hers. “I don't think it's love unless it's crazy, it has to consume your entire life and hurt and drive you wild.”

“I agree.” She murmured, unable to unlock her eyes from his.

“That's how it was with Caroline.” He whispered, “It was like a roller coaster ride.”

Lux's entire body froze, hearing that name leave his lips for one of the first times. She never thought this day would come. She didn't think he would actually want to talk to her about this.
“We don't have to do this right now, if you're not ready..” Lux started and he turned to look at her. The pain in his chest dulled when he looked into her eyes, so dark that they looked like pools of ink. It still shocked him that simply looking at her put him at ease.

“No. I want to.” Harry whispered, “It's time.”
