Dark Side (Harry Styles) HOLD

The past few weeks have been a dream, or so it seems.
Lux Gallagher never imagined anything great would happen to her even though all her life, she's been told otherwise. Now, it's happening. She auditioned for The X Factor, and got through, all the way to the live shows, which start in a few days. Her stomach has been a bundle of nerves for the past few weeks, but it's been the most amazing time of her life. She's never been so happy, overwhelmed, and excited in her life.
“We've got some news for you. We're gonna do the live shows a bit differently..” Mike, a producer, was saying with a sly smile. Lux snapped out of her trance and looked around at the other contestants.
Besides her, there are 14 other acts: 4 others in the under 30 category, 3 groups, and 7 over 30. She's only 20, so she's one of the 2 girls in the under 30 category, with 3 guys rounding them out. Her eyes glided over to Josh, who was one of the guys in the groups category. He caught her eye and they both smiled, looking away. She's had a little crush on him from the beginning, and she's sure he feels the same way.
“We're going to have guest celebrity mentors for each of you!” Mike announced, smiling bright as the contestants all sat up straighter and began to freak out. Names flew around the room, everyone guessing who would get what celebrity, and Lux laughed when she heard big names, secretly hoping she got someone big.
“Do we get to pick, or did you pick for us?”
“Yeah, who do we get?!”
“C'mon, Mike!”
“We've picked for you, based on age and convenience and with the advice of the judges.” Mike explained, gesturing them to stand and follow him. “We're gonna do a segment of you all meeting your individual mentors in 30 minutes, so if you have anything to do, like change out of your pajamas..” Mike shot Lux a look, and she stuck her tongue out.
“These are Victoria's Secret sweats, not pajamas!” She giggled, shaking her head.
“Either way, you'll want to impress them, not scare them off with the word PINK written across your butt.” He joked, ushering them all back into the main area of our shared house, which was more like a mansion.
Everyone ran off to their separate rooms, but Lux took my time up the stairs, thinking up possibilities for her mentor. Lady GaGa? No, too busy. Katy Perry? Nah, on tour. BRITNEY SPEARS?! She gasped, her eyes widening as she thought of Godney Spears being her mentor. Her feet suddenly moved faster as she bolted up the stairs to change.
Mike was right, she does want to impress her mentor.
“Hey, Lux!” Someone called from behind, and she turned to see an under 30s girl named Sara, who also happened to be her roomate.
“Can I borrow your mascara? I'm all out.” She said and Lux nodded, running to grab it for her.
“How exciting is this?” She smiled as she handed it off to Sara, watching her swipe it over her eyelashes with perfection. She used to work for MAC, and everyone went to her for make up tips.
“Sooooo exciting, I hope I get someone I like. Like PINK. Ohmygod.” She shook her crazy brown curls out and Lux reached out to touch them, wishing her own hair looked like hers.
“Well, I'm ready. Thank god for my disgusting habit of waking up early. Want me to do you?” She grinned, swirling around. Lux admired her boho chic look and nodded with a smile.
“Yes, please! Just let me change out of my 'pajamas' quick.” Sara laughed with her as she walked back to the room she shared with her. She doesn't understand why they shared rooms, when the house has like 200 bedrooms. Okay, maybe like.. 20, but still.
Lux stopped in front of the full length mirror on the wall, eying herself with a sigh. Her hair is light blond, nearly white blond, and her eyebrows are dark, as are her eyes. She's a bit taller than all the girls here, standing at 5'6 while the others are all 5'4 and under, and she appreciated her long legs. She wasn't happy with herself though, but what young girls are these days? Sighing, Lux pulled on a pair of skinny jeans, black uggs, and a dark sweater that hung off her shoulders. Not very impressive, but it looked decent. Better than sweats!
When she went to see Sara, she tamed her stick straight hair into soft, beachy waves and applied dark kohl around her eyes, leaving her naturally red lips untouched. Lux thanked her with a kiss to the cheek and wandered off to gather with the others who were ready. Josh came and stood next to her immediately, and she smiled over at him, bumping his hip with her own. He grinned and bumped her back.
“Okay everyone! Follow me!” Mike yelled out, leading the way down the hall.
“We're gonna take everyone in one by one, starting with the over 30s! Derek, come with me.” He led him away, one camera following them and one staying with the rest of the group.
“I'm gonna lose my mind.” Lux said softly, biting on her red nails, looking around as one by one, her co-contestants all slowly began to disappear and not return.
“Sara, you're next.” Mike came out and yelled, and she squeezed Lux's hand before disappearing.
“Good luck.” She said to her softly, realizing she was the last one standing there.
Lux heard screaming coming from Sara and laughed, wondering who she got.
“How nervous are you?” Asked a producer that stood with the camera man.
“I'm gonna throw up all over a celebrity in two minutes.” Lux replied with a straight face.
“Do you think it's gonna be a man or a woman?” He asked, and she adjusted the mic that was on her sweater.
“Ummm, I hope its a woman. I hope its a young woman, someone I can be friends with, someone I can click with. Someone who won't care too much if I get puke on their Louboutins.” She laughed, tugging on a strand of her hair nervously. “Oh god, I'm freaking out.”
“Last but not least, Lux Gallagher, come on down!” Mike called out, as if she were on a game show.
“What if she doesn't like me? What if we don't get along? What if I don't like her?” She gasped, turning to Mike, “What if I don't even know who it is?!”
“You'll know who it is.” He smiled and pushed her toward a set of double doors that led to the ballroom. She swallowed harshly and pressed her palm to the handle, slowly opening the door to her fate.
Her footsteps were soft as she walked into the room, admiring the large design on the floor and the paintings of cherubs on the walls. It was like heaven in the ballroom, and next to the studio, this was Lux's favorite place in the X Factor house.
“Oi! Are you Lux?” A very loud, very British, very male voice pulled her out of her trance. She turned around and watched a guy walk out of the shadows, feeling her heart drop a little bit. Here she was, expecting Britney Spears and she gets... Oh, god.
