Tearing Me Apart *On Hold*

Kaitlynn's POV

I was walking down the street, listening to "Story of My Life." It was my favorite song because it described almost every moment with Zayn and me. He's been my best friend ever since we were little kids. I loved the boys and all of their girlfriends. All except Zayn's fiancee.

Perrie doesn't like me because I'm so close to Zayn. Yeah, I might have feelings for him, but I'm not going to do anything rational that I'm going to regret. She just needs to get over herself. I might laugh at all of Zayn's jokes, but that's only because we're so close. I walk towards the mall so I can get me some new clothes.

As I walk into the mall, a couple of girls recognized me because I'm always with the boys. They comment on my outfit and how much they love following my fashion trends. I thank them and walk off. I hate being the center of attention and sometimes wished people didn't give it to me. I walk into Forever 21 and pick out a couple outfits before checking out. I don't want to stay long or I'll get noticed again.

"Aren't you Kaitlynn Lindberg? The girl who hangs out with One Direction?" The salesperson asked. I nod my head and smile. "I don't like you. You should stay away from Zayn. He looks better with Perrie."

"Excuse me?" I asked. "Did you just suggest I'm trying to get with Zayn even though me and him are childhood friends? Don't butt into anybody's life unless you know the real story."

She hurries up and rings up my things. I pay for my stuff, then head out to the food court. I absolutely love food. I don't know what I'd do if food was never created. I decide to get Panda Express. I walk up to the cashier. He smiles and asked me what I wanted. I tell him I just wanted some orange chicken. He yells that out and then my food is out in a jiffy. He smiles when he hands me my food.

"Have a nice day!" He yelled after me.

"Alright. You too." I said. I walked over to a table and looked at my phone. I had a lot of Instagram and Twitter notifications.

Liam tweeted, "Had a nice day with the lads. Wish @kaitlynn_lindberg would've came." I smiled and retweeted it. I tweeted back, "@real_liam_payne you have to invite me first."

I put my phone down and eat my orange chicken. I watch as parents go by with their kids hanging off their legs. Why can't people learn to control their kids? It's not that hard to avoid a spectacle in public.

"Perrie, why do you want to come to the food court?" I hear a familiar voice say. I turn towards that voice and see Zayn. He doesn't see me.

"Because I'm hungry." Perrie snapped. I rolled my eyes. Sometimes she was just too irritating with all her bitchiness and controlling. I turn my head back to my food. I feel somebody tap my shoulder. I looked up and saw Zayn.

"Hey." He said, smiling.

"Hey." I said. "What brings you here?"

Zayn sighed. "What do you think brought me here?" He said, motioning to Perrie, who was getting her some food. Zayn stood there awkwardly.

"You can sit if you want." I said. He sits with pleasure. "Why didn't you say no?"

"Because I just hung out with the boys and needed a little bit of space." Zayn explained, leaning back on his chair.

"You could have hung out with me." I noted.

"I know, but the evil one wouldn't allow it. She has this crazy theory that you like me." Zayn joked. I smiled and laughed along with it, not really wanting to.

I like him, but he only sees me as his best friend. I want to be more than friends with him. I just wish he wasn't getting married to Perrie. I looked down at my receipt and finally figured out why that boy was laughing. He left his number on the receipt.
