Ordinary Girl

She ran out of the booth, hiding underneath the couch as two guys came in.

“Did you hear that?” one asked

“Hear what?”

“That voice. It was so beautiful but so full of pain. It was, wow, I can’t even describe it.”

Juliet widened her eyes in shock. They were talking about her. Her voice. They must have heard her singing.

“Harry, get a grip.”

Harry sighed “I can’t, there’s just something about it.”

“Can we just get to singing? We have to record some pieces for our fourth album.”

“Alright, alright. But can we just sing some other stuff first? To warm up?”

There was a pause. Then the other voice replied “Sure Harry.”

She heard the booth door open then close. This was her chance. As she crawled across the floor towards the door, she heard singing behind her in the booth

“Something’s gotta give now
Cause I’m dying just to know your name
And I need you here with me now
Cause you’ve got that one thing.”

Wait a second. That sound sounded familiar, why did it sound familiar? She was happy the booth had a one sided mirror so they couldn’t see her. She turned around and saw them. It was Harry and Louis from One Direction.

She snuck out of the room, trying to catch her breath. “Holy crap, holy crap. This keeps happening to me.”

“Hey! What are you doing here?”

She turned to see a guard coming towards her. She tried to look innocent “Well, I was with the tour but I had to use the restroom and got lost.” She blushed.

The man brightened up instantly. “Oh, I’m dreadfully sorry miss. Here.” He offered her his hand “How about I help you find our tour group.”

She shook her head. “Actually, I’ll just go. Thanks anyway.” She ran past him without saying another word

Once outside, she started to feel light headed again. She wasn’t sure if it was due to hitting her head, seeing four members of a famous boy band, almost getting caught or a strange combination of all three.

She called for a cab and slipped inside. The driver smiled brightly at her

“Where would you like me to take you miss?” he asked

“Anywhere I can go clothes shopping.”

“Ah” he smiled “I know just the place.”

He started the cab and drove away from the building and onto the highway.

“So, how long have you lived in LA?”

“Just got in yesterday.”

“Oh goodness. Well, how are you liking it so far?”

She paused for a moment, not quite sure how to respond “Um, well, it’s a lot more adventure than I had expected.”

He nodded as he pulled up to the shop “Ah here we are miss. I hope you enjoy Los Angeles.”

Juliet nodded “Thanks” She handed him a $20 and stepped out of the cab shutting the door.

As she walked in, she widened her eyes, trying to adjust. She wasn’t used to shops being so big. It was covered in clothing. She didn’t even know where to start.

A saleswoman came over to her smiling “Need help finding anything?”

Juliet bit her lip. Every instinct told her to just blow the girl off, but she actually did need help.

“I do actually, I just moved here and I have no clothes, so I kind of need everything.” She admitted blushing.

The salesgirl held out her hand “I’m Zoey.”

Juliet smiled. Should she tell her a real name? “I’m Juliet.”

Zoey smiled “Well, nice to meet you Juliet. Let’s find you some clothes girl.”

The girls proceeded to spend 3 hours shopping. But they had a good time, and Juliet made a new friend.

Zoey walked her out of the store. “Well, that was fun.”

Juliet simply nodded

“Hey, we should hand out later. Where are you staying?”

“Starwood Hotel, I’m under the name Charlotte Kane though.”

Zoey nodded and hugged her “I’ll stop by.” She smiled “Here, I’ll help.” She opened the cab door to help Juliet.

Once inside, Juliet smiled and waved softly. Maybe she was starting to let her guard down.

After a few trips to get everything up, she finally made it back into her hotel room. She started to unpack her shopping bags, putting things tidily away when she heard a knock at the door. She glanced at the clock. It was only 4pm.

“Well, that’s odd.” She walked over to the door and opened it. She stared in shock “Who are you and what are you doing here?”
